I have a very similar one. The touchpad buttons are a little loud, very clicky, but a decent laptop for the office. (mine doesn't have as good of a graphics card.)

I've been looking for a new laptop with blu ray. This seems like a great deal. Someone tell me what's wrong with it?

All my posts are Quality Posts. Even when they're not.

I just bought my son an HP with which we're very happy.

Had I seen this, I'd have been in for one in a flash. Nice deal.

It might be, but the first time i did a transfer via USB 3.0, it brought tears to my eyes.

Nuthin' ... if you're not a serious gamer or something ... there's not a damn thing wrong with it, and there's definitely nothing wrong with the price.

I say, "jump."

This particular model comes with a cobra in the box. But if you own a mongoose, it's a really great deal.

This actually looks quite nice, I bought a new laptop about 8 months ago - makes me sad to see what I could have had. I'll wait another 8 months and see what I can get then!

Keep in mind that this only plays Blu-rays. It cannot write to them as it can with DVDs and CDs. I can't tell you how many people mistakenly believe that they'll easily back up their laptop using a built-in Blu-ray drive. While some notebooks may offer a Blu-ray writer as an upgrade option, I don't believe any stock models have that feature. Certainly none under $500.

It's "made by" HP. That's what's wrong with it.

HP has terrible quality control and worse customer service. I have had nothing but bad luck with HP computers, repeatedly. No more though.

Edit: just wanted to add that I know what I'm doing with computers, and I can tell you their "tech support" is a nightmare of incompetence at best, a nightmare of disrespect toward customers as a matter of regular course.

I have used hundreds of HPs. I haven't noticed any more problems with them than any other. This is a pretty good deal.

If this laptop was made by a no-name brand I'd never heard of, I might be in for 1. Since it is HP, not a chance.

What better way to run a computer tech support than incompetently these days? :D That asus COre i5 laptop they sold on here a year ago is still the best thing I've ever had the pleasure of getting my hands on. Does what I want and more. HP's arrow key layouts make me sad.

Strike one: too big for me.
Strike two: integrated graphics.
Strike three: HP. (This strike also struck out the next two pitchers automatically.)

Yes, I'm awfully demanding for a deals site, but I probably would have jumped if it only had one strike against it. Still waiting. Bring me an ASUS, and I will be off that bridge before you can say "boo."

I purchased this exact model here a few months ago for my nephew for graduation this coming weekend. The only two things I did not like about it is the screen and sound. It has a decent resolution, but the viewing angles from top to bottom are not great. The whole screen is ultra glossy as well. If the screen had a matte finish it would be so much better. The sound is also very "thin". The multi-gesture touchpad has a textured feel to it that made movements precise. The system memory installed in the one I received was a 4GB stick of Kingston DDR3 1333 RAM paired with a 2GB stick of Hyundai DDR3 1333 RAM. The integrated graphics is pretty decent for something like League of Legends or similar, and very adequate for watching movies in HD. I like that it has a large screen, full-sized keyboard, HDMI output and Blu-ray player. There is a system backup on one of the three partitions on the hard drive, and there were no software discs included. What you see in the pics is exactly what you get. The box it came packaged in was very plain with no HP branding like in the unboxing videos online. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the purchase and will still recommend it!

Isn't it the batters that get struck out?

Must be frustrating buying a computer here with so many HPs and people either loving or hating them. Maybe people who haven't needed support like them better?

I don't see anything wrong with it, I'd say jump as well...

My only beef, would be the processor, I think it should be beefier but it's a small thing to consider unless this computer is going to be used for any heavy duty processing (like video editing might be a tad slow).

I will say I am surprised to see a blu-ray disc drive AND a number pad.

P.S. to the HP haters, I have owned 4-5 HPs over my lifetime, never had any hardware problems. (Except their printers, though... we always seem to buy really bad ones)

Will say I have never needed to use customer support so I cannot say anything good or bad about that.

I was looking for customer reviews of this laptop, and found a few at Staples.

I checked the Q&A section under the reviews and found this notebook does not have Bluetooth.

actually, is not intergrated graphic like you see on intel, this one is actually a discrete graphics, is like SoC, but AMD made it more like GPU on a die with the CPU, you dont get as powerful as the graphic card you place on the PCI-Express, but it can run pretty well for a light game or watch HD movie or a HDPC

Which is called APU
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_processing_unit

AMD is gaining mobile market because of it, it can out perform intel HD graphic by ten fold

Whats wrong with it, is that it has blue ray or a CD drive in general. Like the floppy disk, it seems really old fashion to run a motor and spin a disk the entire time to watch a movie. I keep my external cd player in a drawer where it has collected dust for 3 years. I would rather watch the movie online or download it.

Well, last week at 1saleaday they had a Toshiba with the same specs except that the processor was better and a bigger hard drive for $10 more at $459.99. The Toshiba had an A6 quad procesor and a 640 GB HD and like this HP it was also new. However, with that said, 1saleaday can be super slow to ship and they are horrible, just absolutely horrible in shipping products with adequate protection. Most items are shipped in plastic bags or boxes with minimal or no added protection at all. Bottom line...a better deal will probably come along in a few months...hopefully here at Woot. Currently it is an average deal at best. It would be a good deal at $400.00 and it would be an awesome deal at $350.00...just my humble opinion.

What's wrong with it is that it is an acceptable deal at best. For $10 more last week at 1saleady you could get an A6 quad core processor and a bigger HD. Please see my other post for more details. This would be a good deal at $400 or better yet an awesome deal at $350.

No this is a great choice for Diablo II but not a good choice for Diablo III. You just meet the minimum specs which really is never enough to actually make the game playable. If you are buy this specifically for Diablo you will be less than fulfilled.

I am on the fence about this. I've been waiting patiently to buy a laptop once I saw a good one pop up on here. The "NEW" is a big seller for me. I'm just gonna have to wait most of the day to decide.

I've used HP laptops, desktops and printers with very few problems and great tech support. Recently I was given a used HP Elitebook laptop and no backup up disks. I called HP, gone to support quickly, gave them the serial # and they sent me a Windows 7 disk set for $10.

This reminds me of the old "Iomega Zip Drive Click of Death" fiasco. Something like 1/4 of one percent of those Zip drives were defective, but because they sold SO MANY drives and because those few who got bad ones complained so loudly, it seemed as if all Zip drives were bad.

If Joe Blow building PCs in his garage sells 100 a year and has a 10% fail rate, he won't be noticed. If HP sells a million units and has a one percent failure rate, then it seems the sky is falling.

Anyone know if you can do screen captures of Blu Ray discs with the software?

Really considering picking this up, but that's pretty much the only reason I would have for the Blu Ray.
