Another IR helicopter. How many people actually buy these in full knowledge that they will only work indoors?

Some mall vendor knuckled me into buying one of these a couple of years ago, my kid was practically slobbering over it. Turned out to be worst decision of my life time. Wife getting frisky while watching a romantic comedy? Doesn't matter, this thing comes hovering the stair rails. This thing has ruined the past 6 romantic moments of my life, ABC; here I come. Atleast my kid has to be asleep for ONE of them.

Ooh.. new-fangled IR technology!

If Joss Whedon and Steven Moffat wrote a story together, nobody would live to the end.

This is actually a rebranded version of the Syma S107G -- You can get them on Amazon for $20 and they're awesome. They will fly outdoors if you're in the shade or at night.

Fun and easy to fly but don't let the blades get you.. they'll draw blood.

Battery dies after about a month.

Got one of these for Christmas last year. I fly it around the house and try to land it on various boxes and tables. Lots of fun!

As long as you don't run them into the walls too many times, they fly great! I got one for my brother, he loves it. Then my boyfriend played with it, and he got one. Then my boyfriends' roommates tried it, and the three of them bought one. They are pretty fun!

I have one of these (Syma 107g) and it's an AWESOME RC helicopter. 6 minutes of flight time seems like a very short period of time, but I actually find it more than enough to have some fun.

ALSO, I have crashed this thing dozens of time, even in to the 15 foot ceiling in my office. My coworker even godzilla smashes it out of the air with regularity, and the only thing that has broken is a tiny plastic piece of the tail fin (which makes it drift slightly forward due to weight imbalance). The rotors and body have stood up perfectly.

However, these are available on Amazon for $18.95 with Prime shipping:

My husband LOVES his. I bought two a couple woot-offs ago, one as spare parts. But we haven't needed any spare parts. He has crashed it HARD quite a bit and they still run great - he has had to tinker with one of them a bit though. Great for "playing" with cats

forever fighting the urge to buy something just because it is cheap and cool...wait, it's cheap and cool, let me click that big yellow button!

I've had mine since February. I charge and fly it at least once or twice a week. So far, no signs of the battery beginning to dwindle. However, I make sure not to charge it for at least 10 minutes after flight, and not flying it at least 10 minutes after charging. I hear that helps these LiPo batteries

This Phantom appears to be a cheap knock-off of the Syma S-107 which is very reliable and available on Amazon for about the same price (cheaper if you have prime):

They would be better if they upgraded to 1960's RF technology..

You will pretty much never notice the fact that it's IR unless you fly it completely behind a large object. The triple fat IR LEDs in the controller BLAST that signal out and it bounces off all of your walls. You don't have to worry about pointing it at the helicopter.

The only time I've had issue with the IR is that direct sunlight sometimes seems to interfere with the signal. But since you're only meant to fly this indoors, it's fine.

As someone noted thi is similar if nmot the same as the Syma SW107. If it's anything like the Syma in Quality, it is awesome. I actually have 4 of the Syma's well three and a four rotor jammie as well. Honestly this isn't the greatest deal. You can get the Syma's on sale on Amazon for about this price and normally only a dollar or two more when not on sale. They fly great. I'd go with the name brand Syma. You can easily find cheap replacement parts for them [also on amazon] or any hobby shop and they have great support.

I've seen other deal sites with two combat copters (same quality) for less than the price of two of these.. if you hit the other person, their copter drops out of the sky. Now THAT'S fun!

I've owned a Syma, then I upgraded to this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00762BMOI

Highly recommended after you've got some practice with a Syma. This one is probably a cheap knockoff from who knows where, the engrish in the manual is comical.

It's also "the one that flies in the wind"...

Now that's more like it! What's the battery life on that one (fly time)?

How hard is it to learn to fly with a single rotor? Or does the gyro make it feel mostly the same?

Montana just ain't buying today.. could be because there are more cows than people there.. and I don't think cows fly copters..

How many times has the elusive Bundles of Clones surfaced so for? Do you think it will make another appearance? I haven't been able to snag one yet (3 YEARS!)

Personally never flown a single blade but the gyro should take care of the hard part. You can take one of these, hover it and go over and push on it and it will just move a couple of inches and stop. The gyro is what makes these so easy to fly and the folding blades make it durable.
