Is there a particular model of Roku that will ALSO let me stream music/vids from my NAS?

Thanks,

Woot! On

I do stream from a NAS using the roku, however you also need a home server to be running: "Plex Media Server" then there its a plex player in the chanel store.

I used to love woot & I still love Amazon, however the combo ain't as attractive ...

I bought this new from Woot's parent before it started showing up here every other day. My bedroom TV is a 720p Woot special so I didn't care that it wasn't 1080. It works great for watching NetFlix, Amazon VOD and many other channels. It's not our main entertainment system but it does the job well for streaming in the bedroom. As I said in an earlier Roku forum, the Roku app is just as eay to use as the remote and it can also be added to a Logitech Harmony setup. My particular Harmony didn't have buttons that intuitively matched Roku's button names, so it's usually easier for me to use the iOS app provided I remember it's installed. With XBMC, Roku, Denon, Apple Remote, Sonos, etc, I've got a lot of remote apps on the iPhone.

Most Recent woots:
Boogie Board 8.5" LCD Writing Tablet
Byrd's Famous 8" Tall Glass Cookie Jar
Rawlings Long Sleeve Fleece Pullover

jdubau55 wrote:Personally I would pass on this. The higher end models have features that you want to have. One of the best is the what-did-they-say function. Basically a button on the remote that you press that backs the stream up 7 seconds without having to re-buffer the content.

Just adding a note that by higher-end, you're not necessarily meaning newer models. That function is available on the XD model that may show up in this Woot-off at some time.

I wasnt saying anything bad about the roku itself i bought the xds on the last woot off and i love it!!

Those bashing Roku have obviously never used one. I adore mine. Especially since FIOS discontinued Funimation, I can now get my ANIME fix on Crackle. It supplements the netflix well. Plus it can stream my Amazon prime.

I bought a refurb months ago. Not a single issue with it. Waiting to find the XD2 on here for a good price.

Alright, how about a game of Woot! Clue!

I happen to have been in touch with the DJ behind the Woot-Off and I now know the next item that will come up for sale.

You may ask yes/no questions ONLY to try to guess what it is. One question per post. Wait until I answer your question before asking another, please.

Do not give me links to product as the answer. Give me the words.

I want the brand and item, for example: Dyson Vacuum. For this item, I will not require the model number but extra points if you get it.

Now, GO. I will answer inside your posts.

For TVs under about 35", 720p is fine.

Exactly. I think the HD model has always been like the entry level/base model.

Wait... how does it interface with a computer and *not* store data? That rules out USB memory sticks, cameras, hard drives, MP3 players, etc.
