We bought this TV about 9 months ago from Secondipity, where it was listed as in "excellent condition" through a deals.woot sale.
The TV is GREAT. Maybe we just lucked out, but seriously, this thing is remarkable. We haven't done any gaming on it, but for sports, movies (streamed or DVD) all of our Roku stuff, regular digital broadcasts ... it's been great.
Are Vizio's "hit or miss" - yeah, probably. Like most or maybe ALL TV's. For that reason, we would not dream of spending, say, $1800 on a mere TV. If the TV has a one-year warranty, that comes to $150 a month just to own a TV that is very likely to simply die.
Buy it at, say, Costco and get an extended warranty, or get one via American Express and it gets a little better.
But we'd much rather buy a TV for $200 - 500 and then consider every day after the warranty is up to be gravy than be grinding our teeth over the death of a television.
