I currently have a Kodak Z990, and before that had a P712. Neither this specific model, but here are my quick thoughts in general on Kodak's cameras…
Pros:
- Fantastic lenses. Seriously, they take great pics.
- Amazing optical zoom. I often bring a tripod with me. (The Z990 has a 30x zoom, one the biggest reasons I chose it.)
- The zoom has a bit of a auto-stabilizer once you semi-press the shutter.
- A pretty intuitive interface (although they took a step back from the P712 to the Z990, IMO).
- Panoramas. Auto-stitching is nice.
- Very good low-light exposures with the Z990 (obviously I have no idea about this model).
Cons:
- Shutter lag. Updating to the latest firmware helped me IMMENSELY, but it is still frustrating too often.
- Flash tends to chew battery life more than it should (but I am generally pretty anti-flash, so take that FWIW.)
- Some of those interface steps back they took still bug me. (Although that may be more because I was used to how good it was with the P712.)
Neutral:
- Kodak software. Tried it a few months many, many years ago. Now I use Lightroom and iPhoto exclusively.
- The HDR on the P712 was very nice, but on the Z990 became almost useless for me.
All in all, I honestly love Kodak's cameras, and bummed they are now defunct. I consider the two that I own(ed) to straddle the consumer and the professional space… pro-sumer, if you will. If you want much better quality pics than almost all other Point 'n' Shoots, but don't feel like lugging around heavy/bulky DSLRs, then I suggest you seriously consider a Kodak.

Got my mom the 14MP version of this camera a few years ago from Sellout. She likes it. Really shaky at full zoom, but with a tripod, MAN these take nice pictures.

Forgot to add… my z990 takes movies at 1080p @ 30fps, and they are THE best movies I've ever seen from a consumer camera. Again, not sure how good they are with this camera, but it speaks volumes for the quality of Kodak's lenses.

Here's a page that compares this camera to a bunch of others:
