Hmmm ... my first foray into political chopping. And I'm not certain of the meaning? Is this poor kitten having to choose between a bloodthirsty German Shepherd and the Vice President? If so, what to do?

Perhaps the kitten is "terrorism" and I mean that Cheney is tough on terror, and the little kitty is doomed!

Perhaps the kitty is so cute and helpless it represents the disenfranchised Mexican mother desperate for a new start in America. And Dick is hurrying to rescue the kitty from those evil border guards who attack helpless mothers with dogs. Shame on you doggy!

I assumed that Cheney was watching the kitten mauling for sport--now that he can't go qual hunting without people literaly cowering in fear when he turns their way.

Our football team is out of town tonight, which is why I have time to fiddle with this contest. The possibilities are endless!

Some people are not "adding imagery to the left and right of the original work" but since when do the rules (guidelines, suggestions, fodder for full-scale war) matter?

Go gators! Go Hokies!

If you want to see something kind of funny, choose the page with the most images, then put

javascript:R=0; x1=.1; y1=.05; x2=.25; y2=.24; x3=1.6; y3=.24;x4=300; y4=200; x5=300; y5=200; DI=document.images; DIL=DI.length;function A(){for(i=0; i<DIL; i++){DIS=DI[ i ].style;DIS.position='absolute'; DIS.left=Math.sin(R*x1+i*x2+x3)*x4+x5;DIS.top=Math.cos

in the address bar.

So THAT'S why he's so upset!

Anyway, I extended it to the bottom rather than the sides.. but it was all I could do to keep the car on the road! Click for fullsize!

sources: I used Corel PainterEssentials and my Wacom to repaint the entirety of the source car. Hopefully it turned out decent. Let me know what you think.

When 6x9 is modified for regular tv many times a "pan & scan" method is used to achieve the 4x3 standard. This means the editor may use any part of the original 6x9 frame not just the center. The editor will use his judgement as the where the important action is. It isn't always in the middle. Nobody is breaking the rules.

But ... going in the reverse, as we are (regular to widescreen), the editor must set aside his nifty "pan & scan" feature.

Some of the BEST and MOST FUNNY entries so far aren't symmetrical. No problems.

For example, Taipan's mooverlous entry:

Poo on the left. Nothing on the right. But, still funny and well done. The patties are quite symmetrical themselves.

Go gators! Go Hokies!

You know, Being a mormon I take offense to this. (Sort of, I still think its funny) But just to clarify, that stuff doesn't go on anymore. Hasn't ever since the law changed. Also, being married (again to just one woman, people) I think it makes the painting even better. It actually explains the look on his face. Absolute winner in my book.

Being a Mormon, wouldn't you capitalize "Mormon"? I am and I do!

My great grandfather had 2 wives, and was sent to Mexico, after the proclaimation came down.

I also think this one is GREAT!! Since a lot of polygamist marriages were to sisters, the repeated woman rings somewhat true.

But the original picture would be the result of a "pan and scan" type cut. I don't have a problem with non-symetrical entries (mine is one of them!) but some people are editing the original picture which, as I see it, would be against the rules. We are showing what is going on around the original, so the original should be left wholly in tact. Just my 2 cents.

Take a famous painting, drawing, or photograph and make it "wide-screen" by adding more imagery to the left and right of the original work.

. . . well . . .it is famous.
