Just thinking of issues that are somewhat controversial. There is rarely an argument when everyone agrees on the "facts" of the case; the presence of a controversy often indicates that the argument is not so one-sided. Besides, arguments are more fun when there are "facts" supporting both sides of an issue. Papers are more challenging when you argue for the side with which you personally disagree.

Go ahead and do the smoking ban.

edit: there was some article or something about unschooling. Apparently somewhat controversial; some people think "unschooled" kids are at risk of developing holes in their basic education. I'm not particularly knowledgeable about this, but it did appear in an article somewhere.

Perhaps, but it's not the quantity of facts that matters, but whether you can use them to make a compelling case. You seemed ambivalent about doing the paper. I thought you'd like some suggestions for other topics, in case you found one that got your juices flowing more readily. I won't make that mistake again; I'll shut up now.
