Yeah, this portable GPS will get you where you need to go, but at what cost?
Sorry, little mom-and-pop ice cream stand I'll never know exists. I meant to get turned around and stop in for directions on a recent road trip, I really did. I was even going to grab one of your possibly delicious cherry pie milkshakes and then rave to my friends about finding you guys. But now that I don't get lost anymore, I'll never know you're there.
I'd also like to say "sorry" to you, small family-owned motor lodge in the middle of nowhere. You would've been the place I'd have been so relieved to find after getting turned around late at night thanks to misreading a paper map. I probably would've been a little worried by its "Bates Motel" looks or some unidentifiable odor in the room, but the story of staying there would've been worth the night's stay. Sadly, with this Magellan RoadMate Portable GPS of mine, I probably won't come anywhere near your welcome mat.
And to you, attractive stranger I may have met if my car broke down in your little town while trying to find my way back to the main highway, I can not apologize enough. Had it not been for the allure of the Free Lifetime Map updates, built-in AAA TourBook® guides, and extra-large 4.7" screen on my GPS device, we might have started up a conversation as your mechanic father tried to assess the problem. Perhaps we would've grown close in the two weeks it may have taken to get the part I needed delivered. Maybe in that time, you might have opened up my eyes to the joys of small town living. And as we kissed under a night sky impossibly crowded by stars, I might have decided I was better off never having made it to my original destination.
Maybe I'd have stayed after the car was fixed. Maybe we could have made each other happy for a long, long time. I guess we'll never know.
But hey, I shaved a whole half an hour off a fourteen hour trip with this thing! That's gotta be worth something, right?
