In the beginning, there was the ball. Then came the kick. Or maybe the carry. Or, in some cases, the throw. Then maybe the ball turned oval, or somebody put lines on the field. In some places, the pants got shorter. In others, helmets entered the picture. The eight sports below all share the same ancient ancestors. But they've evolved separately to the point where "football" means something completely different depending on where you're saying it. Can you name these eight branches on the football family tree?
I love football. I love video games. So it should come as no surprise that I buy Madden NFL Football, the annual sports sim EASports releases so that dorks like me can live out their gridiron fantasies. Not, like, "Oooh, kiss me down THERE, Tom Landry," fantasies. More like, "I just won the Super Bowl for my hometown team!" kind of fantasies. But I don't judge if you go for the former.
Can I make a confession? I kind of hate Super Bowl commercials. They're a lot like the Super Bowl itself: bloated with hype and usually a letdown. Even the best of them are still, you know, commercials. But there's no denying that Super Bowl commercials are responsible for some of the most enduring (or enduringly awful) artifacts of their time. Can you name the 8 advertisers responsible for the famous and infamous Super Bowl ads seen below? And for the 2-point conversion, can you name the year each aired?
