OK, I can actually sincerely endorse this one, as I use mine quite often. It works with all of my video editing programs, and I use it to capture from a multitude of media devices. This has worked out far better than the internal capture cards I've bought in the past.

And if I'm reading your comments correctly, you must have the Pinnacle software to use this?
The Flip recorder is already digital. If I'm reading the specs right, it does come with software, but maybe I'm not reading it correctly.
You can edit your Flip video with a variety of free editors. Each has it's quirks. I've got Pinnacle 12 pro and am very happy with it.

I'm in for one. It DOES come with the software, as in "Studio HD Software CD (latest version)."
I used this software to produce a 7 minute farewell video for the director of the place where I work. It was shown on a big screen in front of people that have a say in my remaining hired. It worked great, allowing me to mix in stills, audio and effects. I could also export it to any format. And, as I mentioned earlier, my version allowed me to generate royalty free music that was quite good.
Regard the HD thing: Think about it. Any device that shoots HD probably is already digital. This thing is for VHS tapes, which are not HD and so it doesn't matter.

No more than when the oxide flakes off the tape and they become useless! ;)
