Android Honeycomb doesn't seem to have a screen capture function? Tried "screenshot er lite" (free) but seems to require rooting (not sure that I want to do that or understand what to do?)!
Also notice the settings (device administration view or actions) doesn't seem any way to setup, change, add administrator? I suppose that is not a problem in android?
Also, seems that micro sd slot is mostly read only from the xoom in honeycomb (but can write when attached to pc via usb)?

Some of the web references I found indicate that the xoom has gorilla glass (not true?)?

My main issue is how the heck do you get the SDHC card slot to work , transfer files, etc???
The Xoom forums are somewhat helpful ... perhaps this is why the iPad is so popular???
See my post above " seems that micro sd slot is mostly read only from the xoom in honeycomb (but can write when attached to pc via usb)?" and my questions there too!

All my wife wants to do is fill the card with movies to watch ... and now she's beginning to wonder if she'll be able to do that at all.
What's amazing to me is that Honeycomb 3.2 has SD support (a big selling feature) but there is little/no documentation as to how to get it to work.
How are you able to document that? It is easy to do a screen capture/print in the usb attached windows pc; however, how to do a screen capture/print at the xoom honeycomb?

The horror of three of these being delivered today by my local post office (really woot? I begged you to let me pay for FedEx security). is like tying chum to your body in a shark pool.
Besides the brown box saying Motorola Zoom on it (5 pcs), it was tossed on my front porch with the same love and affection the mailman from Funny Farm had.
They survived the shipping I believe as I tested each one for 10 minutes deleting all the store photos and personal emails and apps that the refurb center did not by doing a master reset. I also updated the firmware (all needed two updates each to get to 3.2.1).
I reset them again so the recipients for Xmas would get the nice Welcome start up and setup messages and powered them down and put them on a charger.
Disappointed that they came in a plain white box, but I'm not about to profess they weren't refurbs anyway.
Looking them over I can see that they are in great cosmetic condition. Won't really know until Xmas how well they work. No Warranty Card in the box? (Did anyone get one?) The SD and SIM holder has a clear plastic card in each spot so I will remove with the family present.
Motorola accessories beat these home by two days so I am good to go for the 25th.

Dud wrote:Good luck finding ANY useful information on the Xoom ... even from Motorola. You can join the Motorola support forum and ask the community for help but other than that ... good luck.
I finally figured out how to use the SD card with the unit ... all by myself. If I had to depend on Motorola or their lack of documentation I'd be in real trouble.
Other than the lack of documentation this is a quality piece of hardware. The wife is happy and therefore so am I.
I suppose they expect everyone to install http://www.motorola.com/hc/apps/xoom/en-us/go.aspx?
Also, I suppose this could be useful http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Support-Homepage/Software_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers?
Anyone get motocast to work on our xoom? http://www.mymotocast.com/download

Could you:
"Hardware method
1. Start with the Xoom off, then press Power to turn it on.
2. When the Motorola logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down button until you see text appear in the upper-left corner of the screen.
3. Press Volume Up. The Android logo should appear with a yellow triangle.
4. Press and hold the Power button, then press Volume Up.
5. Press the Volume down key to highlight wipe data/factory reset.
6. Press Power to make the selection.
7. Press the Volume Down key to highlight Yes — delete all user data.
8. Press Power.
9. Select reboot system now then press the Power button."

knitjean wrote:I sent mine back to finish the refurbishing just catching the last pick up at my FedEx store at 7pm Wednesday evening. I received my tablet back today just before noon. That was less than 48 hours and it could be tracked thru the whole process at the FedEx site and the Motorola site. And yes, there was a $100 AmEx card packed in with my Xoom. I was rather impressed!
I had to contact Motorola several times as they seem to have lost/misplaced my original rma - but they finally agreed that mine was eligible. It is really a professional and express experience returning my xoom and providing the gift card!
(In the process I am without a minimal sdhc micro card that I could never retrieve from that storage slot in the top - when messing with the sdhc slot in the future I will always insert that plastic cover thing in reverse to eliminate the possibility of anything going into that ersatz storage slot! Super glad that the refurbishers were able to get that sdhc card out)!
