Android Honeycomb doesn't seem to have a screen capture function? Tried "screenshot er lite" (free) but seems to require rooting (not sure that I want to do that or understand what to do?)!
Also notice the settings (device administration view or actions) doesn't seem any way to setup, change, add administrator? I suppose that is not a problem in android?
Also, seems that micro sd slot is mostly read only from the xoom in honeycomb (but can write when attached to pc via usb)?

Received product in good condition. Only problem is near total lack of documentation related to how the thing works, The downloads provided by a previous poster were a little helpful but it seems like Motorola assumes that you already know how to operate the thing when you buy it.

My main issue is how the heck do you get the SDHC card slot to work , transfer files, etc???

The Xoom forums are somewhat helpful ... perhaps this is why the iPad is so popular???

Mine has two issues and trying to decide what to do. First I noticed the AC power adapter seems a bit too loose for comfort... then a day later I noticed there is a dead pixel when I started up my Netflix.

I am guessing I will call Motorola first and see how to handle this... then Woot?

Any help is appreciated.

I LOVE THE XOOM THOUGH. I also own a streak 7 but this is way more fluid and a better experience in general.

We've installed a 32GB sdhc card and installed the "best" file management app from the Market but it's not working all that well. What the app is showin (on the card) differs from what Windows is saying is there.

All my wife wants to do is fill the card with movies to watch ... and now she's beginning to wonder if she'll be able to do that at all.

What's amazing to me is that Honeycomb 3.2 has SD support (a big selling feature) but there is little/no documentation as to how to get it to work.

How are you able to document that? It is easy to do a screen capture/print in the usb attached windows pc; however, how to do a screen capture/print at the xoom honeycomb?

Got mine. I guess when they refurb these - it's a physical only refurb. Looks mint - not a single sign of use on the screen or casing. Likely these were replaced.

Start her up however - found a bunch of apps (hey thanks) - someone's email (delete that) and a bunch of pictures (also delete) some of which i'm pretty sure the owner wouldn't have appreciated falling into another person's hands.

going through the apps to see if there's anything i want to keep.. will backup those which i want, and then system wipe.

OH - FYI, for anyone wondering - these are manufacturer refurbished.. ie: motorola, not the best buy geek squad repair special.

The horror of three of these being delivered today by my local post office (really woot? I begged you to let me pay for FedEx security). is like tying chum to your body in a shark pool.

Besides the brown box saying Motorola Zoom on it (5 pcs), it was tossed on my front porch with the same love and affection the mailman from Funny Farm had.

They survived the shipping I believe as I tested each one for 10 minutes deleting all the store photos and personal emails and apps that the refurb center did not by doing a master reset. I also updated the firmware (all needed two updates each to get to 3.2.1).

I reset them again so the recipients for Xmas would get the nice Welcome start up and setup messages and powered them down and put them on a charger.

Disappointed that they came in a plain white box, but I'm not about to profess they weren't refurbs anyway.

Looking them over I can see that they are in great cosmetic condition. Won't really know until Xmas how well they work. No Warranty Card in the box? (Did anyone get one?) The SD and SIM holder has a clear plastic card in each spot so I will remove with the family present.

Motorola accessories beat these home by two days so I am good to go for the 25th.

Also received mine on Saturday and required two updates to get to 3.2.1. Noticed that there were not a large number of apps already installed compared to my other two 7" tablets, UPAD from China. Does anyone have the list of apps supplied on the new Xoom? I checked the Motorola site but found little to answer the question.

Good luck finding ANY useful information on the Xoom ... even from Motorola. You can join the Motorola support forum and ask the community for help but other than that ... good luck.

I finally figured out how to use the SD card with the unit ... all by myself. If I had to depend on Motorola or their lack of documentation I'd be in real trouble.

Other than the lack of documentation this is a quality piece of hardware. The wife is happy and therefore so am I.

Still have not received mine...

Looks like Woot sent it to my Mom's house in Indiana, which I surely did not ask them to. It's floating around somewhere in PA now. I hope it gets here soon so I can set it up for the family for X-mas.

I had the exact same experience, it was still synced to the previous owners gmail account with pics and apps installed. I did a factory reset, shouldn't that be the norm when they "test" these refurbs?

I sent mine back for a refund because the screen was cracked (under the glass, you could only tell when it was turned on) - they didn't have any extras so I couldn't exchange it. I realize it is not Woot's fault entirely, but I have over 300 dollars tied up for 3 weeks before Christmas... what a bummer.

Could you:
"Hardware method

1. Start with the Xoom off, then press Power to turn it on.

2. When the Motorola logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down button until you see text appear in the upper-left corner of the screen.

3. Press Volume Up. The Android logo should appear with a yellow triangle.

4. Press and hold the Power button, then press Volume Up.

5. Press the Volume down key to highlight wipe data/factory reset.

6. Press Power to make the selection.

7. Press the Volume Down key to highlight Yes — delete all user data.

8. Press Power.

9. Select reboot system now then press the Power button."

Received the Xoom and broke it open just today (hubby's birthday). I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND THAT SOMEONE'S INFORMATION, PHOTOS, APPS AND OTHER LOGIN INFO WAS STILL ON THE TABLET. It appeared to be a teenage girl! As a mom, I immediately did a factory reset even though it meant erasing all the cool apps she had downloaded. Scary! How hard is it to erase the private info before shipping to someone?

I ordered this and still have yet to recieve. FedEx last update was from Dec 8th and said it was on it's way (I hate, hate, HATE FedEx smartpost). I contacted FedEx and they tell me that the item has been considered lost and that Woot needs to contact them on this to get it taken care of. I sent an e-mail request to get this looked into yesterday and recieved the auto-reply with a ticket number but still no responce today. If anyone has any suggestions on a better way to get in contact with Woot support on this I am all ears.

thanks!!

I'm in the same boat....my original package is floating around in PA somewhere. Woot sent a replacement order on the 17th, but there has been no tracking update for several days again. I hope it gets here by Friday so I can give it to the family for Xmas.

I got a response from a rep yesterday. Seems they got in touch with FedEx and did the whole lost item process. I was advised that they would ship a replacement and that they would try and get it here as fast as possible. I was also advised I would get a new tracking number for the replacement but have yet to see anything. Starting to think that a month from order date to arrival is not far fetched at this point....We shall see, curse you FedEx employee who likely took this home to their family for the holidays

A very sorrowful reminder to all - get a tracking number from the USPS if you refuse delivery or return an item to Woot.
Back on July 13, 2011 I purchased a Xoom in Woot's first sale of these. Due to many problems with Motorola, Woot provided RMA (return authorization) to its customers, and Woot's directions were to 'refuse delivery'. Refund would be issued when Woot received the package back.
Most regrettably, the USPS does not issue tracking numbers for a Woot item is refused and returned delivery.
The package was 'lost' or at least Woot denies receving it.
So I am still out the $405, no Xoom, and Woot says no refund without package. USPS and I complied with Woot's return instructions, but tough luck, the loss is mine.
No thanks Woot. Now I understand how they make their money on bad promises.

Correction to this statement:

USPS does not issue tracking numbers for a FedEx Smartpost item that is refused delivery and and USPS then returns, unopended, to the sender.

Woot said nothing in their return authorization or instructions that they would deny the return, if it were lost. Nor did Woot ask for a return shipping / tracking number.

Bad deal, and no one has covered this loss, except my empty wallet.

Already received my replacement XOOM. Guys, this is a very good tablet. If you got one that works well, this is an awesome deal. I have done a side by side test with the ACER I bought recently and the ACER will be going on Ebay.

The overall smoothness of the XOOM is unbeatable, it fluidly moves from screen to screen and has had no errors on video playback like the ACER has during NETFLIX.

I received a quality empty tablet both times, just had the bad pixel to make me send it back... no home pictures, accounts or videos of strangers for me. LOL STALKERS!

Mine was clean and devoid of anyone else's data when I received it. One would think that wiping the data is part of the refurb process. My guess, based on no factual data, is that slackers in Motorola's refurb department passed items through without completing all the steps (if they indeed completed any of the steps on those particular models.) That said, mine works great and so far, I'm very happy with it.

Mine also arrived with someone else's email account and apps. I've been playing with it for a while and noticed that the electronic compass is always off about 90 degrees. It shows East where North should be. I did the calibrate figure-8 thing multiple times but it is always off 90. Has anyone else tried out the compass?

I have had to send my device to Motorola twice. I have not been able to enjoy my Zoom. It keeps freezing up and going back to the main lock screen.
Hopefully these problems will be fixed soon so I can enjoy my christmas gift.

I sent mine back to finish the refurbishing just catching the last pick up at my FedEx store at 7pm Wednesday evening. I received my tablet back today just before noon. That was less than 48 hours and it could be tracked thru the whole process at the FedEx site and the Motorola site. And yes, there was a $100 AmEx card packed in with my Xoom. I was rather impressed!

My Xoom was one that Motorola wanted back for clearing previous data. I'm nervous about sending it. I waited a little to make sure it wasn't a scam but I sent it today. I have my fingers crossed that the Xoom will come back fine with the $100 card as promised.

I had to contact Motorola several times as they seem to have lost/misplaced my original rma - but they finally agreed that mine was eligible. It is really a professional and express experience returning my xoom and providing the gift card!
(In the process I am without a minimal sdhc micro card that I could never retrieve from that storage slot in the top - when messing with the sdhc slot in the future I will always insert that plastic cover thing in reverse to eliminate the possibility of anything going into that ersatz storage slot! Super glad that the refurbishers were able to get that sdhc card out)!
