Got the last ones, they were pretty cool. Don't need two more though. Great price!

I think I'd feel like an idiot talking into my watch. What if the other person ignores you? Then you're just the crazy person talking to your wrist.

I feel the beginnings of a Star Trek theme..first the picture on the TV yesterday, now communicators. What next, a tri-dorker?

I came, I saw, I bought.

What's the battery life for these things?

In this era of ubiquitous cell phone coverage, are these items even relevant? Still, for $20 I'm readu to take a chance...

Awesome, now me and my friends can pretend to be secret agents...

Any way, this concept seems rather useless. And whats worse is that there is a wired ear piece that is going to run to your wrist.

Where else do they sell these?

OK, pretending to be James Bond at 8 was cool, but at 36, it would just be creepy.

They look pretty cool. They can be useful for the nephews to play with or even just for fun playing some hide n seek game or whatever.

I could have used these on the cruise ship this past week. Lost to many of my friends and the Nextel didn't work. Seems like a good price for them too.

Its gonna be a lot of slow singing and flower bringing if my burglar alarm starts ringing!!!

These seem a bit goofy to me, to have a wired headset hanging on your wrist.

I stayed up for this?

So tempting. These would be great for offroading/hiking.

GO TEAM VENTURE!

I know other shows and pop icons have had 2 way wrist communicators but Venture Brothers by far beats all of them. Dont try and give example because there are none.

compatibility warning -- got the no name red ones last month from woot. They work great, except not very compatible with standard FRS radios (i believe we tried with Motorola classic FRS walkies).

other than that, very nice. lithium ion batts (non-exploding, i hope), plug-in charger, great range. used them at lego land in san diego recently and they worked all over the park.

Why have all the podcasts been lame since they moved into the new stuidio? Has W00t cut back their advertising budget or something?

Too bad it's only listen, not watch. I know it looks like a watch but it would be better if it worked like Dick Tracy's.

BizRate Link... similar watch... $20

Shopzilla Watches category

... i don't know. doesn't look like most places even have any Bellsouth watches... comparison links above have two different prices from the same comparison site already... useful linkage is un-useful for this one... plus, since my first post got deleted, and now i'm reposting, i just feel cranky... why would you delete my post?... everyone know's how i roll... just give me a minute and the edit will come... is there a new admin or something... its all good... i'm just tryin to see if i can find out what's the dilly yo... anyways... tomorrow's useful linkage will be far more useful and far more linkage... i promise.

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

psh pretending to be James Bond is cool at any age! In fact if you WERE an 8 year old boy sleeping with several women after everyone of your imaginary missions, well then I would think it creepy. But for a man (well that's just spicing up the love life)...

Works great in casinos finding your friends since cell phones don't work in there most of the time.

i thought so, too... i had to charge the "dead" one overnight and it worked fine. the other one powered right up, right out of the box.

These appear to be the same ones they had on sale on July 9:
http://www.woot.com/Forums/ViewPost.aspx?PostID=593707

Except these are private branded as Bell South, but they are Xact Communications. And it appears these come with two minature headset thingys.

Ah! These are the same (but rebranded) wristwatch communicators that Woot sold a few weeks ago. Many of the ones they sold had bad batteries (they kind of inflate and go bad, they are lithium-ion-polymer cells).

To use the GPRS frequences legally, you HAVE TO GET AN FCC LICENSE. $80 You can get more information at:

    http://wireless.fcc.gov/services/index.htm?job=service_home&id=general_mobile

In any case, I bought two sets of these the last time, and got repacement batteries direct from the manufacturer. I have found that they have a reasonable range of about .5 miles or so in open country.

edit: (Yes Dillo, I was up early enough to catch this w00t. -sigh-)

Whoa, Matthew mentions "uplateanyway" in the podcast. This might be the first time the podcast went ahead and gave props to one of the wooters - instead of the other way 'round!

If "uplateanyway" had trademarked his handle, Matthew would need to pay the royalties for the mentioning.

Either way, I've enjoyed the podcasts as of late, but look forward to the return of "live wit" focussed specifically on the woot topic of the day.

Uhh, these say that they are "FCC self-licensing". Does this mean you don't need to get the license, then?
