4 stars on Amazon. That don't sound to bad...

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

I didn't know Sunkist Orange Soda had caffeine - I looked it up. Sure enough - 40 milligrams. I'm SO glad I stayed up so I could learn that.

Wait a minute, this is cheaper than when I bought it on Woot!

Good product though. Works over a distance of about 30 feet through a thick cinder block wall. That's my situation anyways. I've noticed that the speakers I have attached to it hum if they are right next to it, but 6 inches is enough space.

That's amazing. I was just wondering how the guy who watches his across the street neighbor's new 65" LCD could listen to it. Freakin' amazing.

The transmitter and receiver both have DC adapters you plug in to the wall. The speakers you attach to the receiver will need to be powered as well, either by battery or plug.

Hilarious! I just drank Sunkist for the first time in a year this evening, and also happened to notice the caffeine ingredient. I was wondering how much caffeine was in it ... then you came around and read my mind. Is it Sunkist day or something today?

The prices listed on froogle and amazon are for just the receiver, it specifies the transmitter is sold separately.

I got a few sets of these on here last a little while back. They worked very nicely, through walls, the length of my house. I hooked one end up to my computer, and the other end up to my television, actually! Because I don't have any powered speakers. But this works well, since I have a TV in several rooms.

You will need powered speakers, but other than that, it worked flawlessly! Love em. Great way to listen to Pandora without having to move my computer around.

Interesting product. But I think I'll just turn up the volume on my amp and let my speakers share the sound in audio mode like nature intended.

If you have wireless in your home you may want to reconsider purchasing this. A lot of WiFi access points incorporate the use of the 2.4GHz channel. Which would cause a bit of conflict .... which is why I cannot get, my apartment complex operates their wifi on the 2.4GHz channel.

Yeah, I read those warnings before I got it, but I went ahead and got it. My wireless has not been negatively affected at all.

Same freq as my home network, and still no problems?
Anyone else see the same as the posts above? No interference?
Thanks

which defeats part of the purpose of using "wireless" transmission...especially if I have to power the speakers separately...

I have a question for anyone who has used these.

Is there any significant delay in the audio?

I was thinking of using this as a way to make my surround rear channel wireless. Any delay between the wired and wireless speakers would be very bad.

I am hoping to throw the signal from a DVD player on one side of my room to the input on my stereo on the other side of the room. Think this well work??

Gizmos to send music from PC to stereo (doh) are cool! Logitech system from woot is still working fine, or I might be in the market for this. Playing some J.J. Cale right now!

I picked these up during the last Woot-off for something like $15-20 less than this and I like them a lot. My setup was to get music from my computer (MP3's and XM Radio over the internet) over to my stereo system ~25' and two rooms away. They work great for that purpose. My wife loves the fact that we can get all of her favorite music anywhere in the house now.

The sound quality is fine, but not something that an audiophile would love. Something close to FM radio reception quality. I am broadcasting through a small door opening and bouncing it through too rooms to the receiver - not a bad distance. My only complaint is that it does not have a switching system that allows me to listen to the computer (at the computer) without unplugging the jack. Not a huge issue, just an overlooked point.

Anyone having issues or concerns about this interferring with their home network should try changing the channel (1-11 I think it is off the top of my head) within their wireless router, and that should clear up the issue. Same thing as with cordless house phones (remember those? before cell phones?). You had a "channel" button on those to change the channel within the GHz range and it would make the call clearer.

SurfKahuna

2.4GHz devices, such as wireless local area networks (WLANs), typically use the Industrial, Scientific, & Medical band (ISM band). This band uses 11 channels in the US (there are actually 14, but the FCC mandates that we only use 11 here). These channels range from 2.412GHz to 2.62GHz.

Most wireless networks can be adjusted to operate on a different channel, thereby negating interference to these speakers. Since these speakers cannot adjust wireless channels, they most likely operate on channel 6 (2.437GHz). If you have control over the WLAN setup, you can most likely change the transmitting channel and reduce interference so that your WLAN and these devices play nicely. However, if you cannot administer the WLAN, then you may have a problem if you have confliction.

- A few words from a technical trainer at a wireless router company. *giggles*! My job was finally worth something to the WOOT! community!

BTW, anyone else see Obama play basketball? It's weird watching a presidential hopeful play basketball. Just weird, not bad ;-).

http://www.soundcastsystems.com/products/transmitters--receivers/icast-system

after looking at the site it really does say that you need powered speakers for it. This means no head phones and no rear channels for your surround sound (damn!).

Makes sense though, they can send the sound, but not the volume, wouldn't take much for them to fix that, but they must be saving it for a later model i'd bet. nice try woot, i wanted these since your ridiculous TV is forcing my to rearrange my living room, and costing me surround sound. well worth it i suppose....

Seems like the surround sound system would have to amplify the signal.?
Edit: Oh you said rear speakers of the system. Right. They would have to be powered.

Technically, couldn't this wireless system work with video as well since it just transmits a signal from A to B without deciphering the content?

I have one of those rca to mini-stereo adapter. I would think this could work as long as the points in the mini-stereo jack touch the correct areas within the mini-stereo plugin.
