I love all of the iPad bashing that every tablet on Woot elicits. The iPad is the standard bearer. These wanna-be's are just toys for select tech-folks with way too much time on their hands to spend coaxing performance into approximating - poorly - the iPad (and future coasters for your favorite beverages).

Well, yeah. Which is exactly why m3rdpwr gave that as a reason to buy one at Costco instead...

As opposed to the select i-folks trolling on a bargain site with way too much time on their hands...?

Doubtful, smartpost means once your package gets to the Post Office hands it may sit in a warehouse for a week or two. And the Post Office doesn't give a hoot when your package arrives.

Ive been trying to get a refund for defective merchandise from woot for three weeks now. Still giving me the run around. After using the shipping label Woot supplied me with, I shipped the product on the 25th of November, now Woot is telling me they have not received it. Further more Woot is telling me the USPS hasn't moved the package since the day I shipped it. Yet when given the tracking number given to me by Woot, the USPS says that isn't a valid tracking number and can not track or scan it. It really shouldn't be this hard, should it?

My point is, why come to Woot and complain about the lack of buyer's remorse protection, which is part of what keeps these prices so low and is known by anyone who has ever shopped here? You could go into the thread for every product every day and make the same statement. You're just being redundant by complaining about that here.

That'd be like me walking into Costco (an excellent store that I'm a member of) for the first time, turning to the regular customers and saying, "There's a $55 fee? I might as well go online and buy this..." You'd probably get a lot of blank stares and/or eye rolls in that situation too...

I bought one of these for my wife when they first came out at Costco for $284.
She now has an iPad 2. I have an HP Touchpad and a Viewsonic G-Tab. Now I almost exclusively use this Vizio. I really like the size and the 4:3 screen (like my Touchpad). It is perfect as a reader. It is fast and smooth enough (no it doesn’t compare to my wife’s iPad 2). Definitely worth the price they are offering it for here.

edit: I just saw this includes the case too! That's another $20 I spent.

I always thought this was a strange brand name - I wonder if they sell products in Italy.

In Italian, vizio means "vice, bad habit, defect, fault, wickedness, depravity"

There is a little shipping icon in the bottom left corner of the deal description that tells you whether or not it will be there by Christmas. This one says "Too Late".

Considering that a 16G HP Touchpad was only sold for $99, this one is very expensive, and it's refurbished.

You can root it if they didn't put the Vizio 1.5 update on it. If they haven't, and you get messages to update to 1.5, don't do it! Root it first, and freeze the update service.

In for 1!!

After the frustration of trying to get a Touchpad on Ebay last night, and all the time wasted staring at an hourglass waiting for the screens to load/crash, getting one of these seems like a better deal - like it was meant to be....

In any case, I feel better now - Thanks Woot!

I bought this for my dad about a month ago and specifically chose this one based on the included all-in-one remote. Be warned if you have a Tivo, it apparently doesn't work with Tivo Series 2 (if any Tivo's at all) and tech support wasn't able to help. Other than that, it's a great budget tablet.

Beware Woot. Refurbished in my woot experience just means used... and returns are not easy if impossible to accomplish.. It appears Woot has turned into Amazon's dumping ground for returned and used items.. COSTCO has this same item now on sale and returns are a snap if it proves something you don't want... Don't buy used crap with an impossible return policy!

I would recommend calculating the cost of the extended on year warranty into the cost. I have had a bad experience with Vizio refurbished.

First, let me start off by saying that this tablet is worth the price just for the universal remote! You can have multiple rooms with multiple devices and it can even do some things the Logitech's can't. I can have one room with a TV, surround sound receiver, and DirecTV. Turn power on on the TV, go to the right input, turn on DirecTV, and receiver. You can set the volume to only adjust the receiver, set the channel to only work with DirecTV and the input to only work the TV. Again, it's great for just the universal remote!

Next, yes, it comes pre-installed with Netflix and Hulu, both worked well for me, just may be a bit slow to get started.

Yes, it will play Angry Birds for those interested!

Yes, there is access to the Android Market as well as the Amazon market - however, not all Tablet apps work, and not all Phone apps work. It's weird how some apps work and some do not...have read people modifying different apps to work, but no experience here.

Yes, Gmail, YouTube and basic web browsing work great!

Very similar settings to an Android phone with 2.3.2. For those interested, mine is up to Kernel Version 2.6.35.7

There's a bunch of help over at the Android Forums for those scared to do too much modding as well as some working with Rooting. I have yet to Root mine because I was holding out to see if ICS was coming.

http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/vizio-tablets/

With all that being said, it is a bit slow comparing responsiveness to other tablets (or phones) and the battery isn't amazing. The past few updates have helped the battery last a bit longer and there are still updates coming.

To conclude, for the price:feature ratio, this is a great deal! If you weren't able to snag a Transformer from Best Buy or the Touchpads from Ebay yesterday and still holding out for a "cheap but good" tablet, jump on this! I paid $275 not including a cover a few months ago and do not regret it at all!

Again, worth the price just for the universal remote alone!

**If someone is curious if their TV, receiver, DVD Player, Amp, anything with an IR port will work, I will gladly look though mine and see if it's on the list. With that being said, the app itself is smart enough to scan and find codes not included on the list as well. This has worked multiple times for me. (Think going to Hooters during a big UFC fight and turning the power off of the TVs...hehe)

I can also include a list of my various models it works well with if anyone is interested.

EDIT* Forgot to mention that you can download launchers on the VTAB to change the home screen look (which I hear people complain about).

Kindle fire has better dual core processor, more ram, multi touch screen (better one), 8gb memory to start and the ability to hack and put on Android 3.0 if you (or someone you know) has the skill set to do so. Visio has a bigger screen, ability to expand memory, but given the amount of RAM and processor may not be a great candidate to Android 3.0- even if it can be hacked. So basically it's apples to oranges, what form factor you want, what size screen and what kind of expandability.I think when ice cream sandwich comes out, many of the current honeycomb tablets will go down in price- it might be worth waiting for that to happen

This looks like a nice little item for everyone looking for tablets and not wanting to pay the price for an ipad, BUT for $40 more, you can get a brand new Kindle Fire and it is just an amazing item. I have one and love it! I's dpend the money on a higher quality item.

I got one at walmart about a month ago and you can't beat it for the price. It does connect to netflix, tried watching a moving with the micro hdmi output and it looked great. Plays all games great, angry birds GTA shift ect. One of the only less expensive tablets that come with the android market one it. Granted its not a $600 I-pad, but again for the money I don't think you can do any better.

Fire has no IR blaster on it, nor does it have an SD card or bluetooth, nor does it come with a case like this one. Fire also does not have a Camera on it. Fire also does not have the Android Market, and I think it also lacs a mic.

I could go on at length on things the Fire lacks, but bottom line is that the Fire is not for someone who really wants an android tablet, it is for someone who wants to consume Amazon content. Its a fine product but it is really just a souped up media player.
