I'm just curious. If Dyson products are so well-engineered and don't lose suction and all that, why are there so many refurbs? Though many people speak very highly of Dyson produts, I'm leery to jump because it appears that a great deal of them get sent back.

Has anyone ever had to return a Dyson? If so, what for, so that we might know why many of these are refurbished.

This isn't a bad deal. It sells for $449 at Bed Bath and Beyond. However you can get it from a Dyson dealer on eBay for $299 but that also is refurbished but comes with a 3 year warranty instead of 6 mos.

We bought one of these as a refurb a couple years ago. It had only the slightest traces of dust in it and I suspect it was a demo unit.It has held up well and has been the best vacuum we've owned by far.

get new servers woot.

dyson's last forever, which makes seeing these come up with every woot-off suck so much more.

But a refurb 4 years ago still works great, for what that's worth

Love this vacuum, does the best job of any one I've ever owned. Haters will hate, but I got mine refurbed and would have sworn it was new from the condition it arrived in. I have a Dalmatian and it picks up those little hairs and about sucks the spots off her. But that's another story. I think it is a good deal and would recommend giving it a try, I thought it was worth every penny.

I own one of these. I got it from a non-woot location so that is that. In any event, it is light and compact and easy to use. The telescoping wands and other attachments are convenient but not as usable as a standard machines. The brush for corners and such seems to leave more in the floor than picks up. Beyond that it is a pretty good machine. I disparage over the price point when for a few dollars more you can get an electrolux but for a few dollars less you can get a piece of garbage and use it for a few years and throw it away then get a new one. The dirt container does fill up fast, I have to empty it two or three times while cleaning. That could be my floors are dirty, the vacuum cleans really well, or the container is too small. My opinion is the latter.

All in all I like mine but don't think if I was in the market for a new vacuum I would look at this one if I know what I know now.

My guess is that nogoodniks buy them from places like Costco, vacuum their house, then return them. Some stores have very lax return policies, and mouthbreathers have learned they can game the policy as a kind of appliance rental.

I liked my DC25 so much I bought another here for my mother-in-law. She likes it, too.

With how much a dyson costs, I dont imagine too many refurbs are from faulty parts or manufacturing issues. These are potentially items that were gifted/bought-for-ones-self and returned, either because of the cost, the color, maybe missing an attachment part, or the consumer just had insanely high expectations that this beast of a machine couldnt live up to...

Ahh I see, I am a total germaphobe so this would be a no no, kind of like buying used shoes... yucko

These things are all over-priced. I picked one up out of the trash and spent $55 refurbishing it myself. It works great, but not much better than my Eureka refurb I got from Big Lots 5 years ago.

Does anyone know of a woot checker that is working right now?

All of my woot checkers are still on that red little Sanyo.
