C'mon woot.

It feels like most of us got AC with broken parts and Sharp is no help.

How about a woot response that you're looking into this and assuring us that we will be satisfied with you handling this issue. This item is over $200 and definitively should be considered crap, but I get the feeling I just bought crap.

I recently purchased this from Woot. The product worked for about 30-40 minutes on Max Cool and then turned off by itself with the lights flashing, indicating that water must be drained. I drained the water and restarted the product, which worked for about 30 minutes and then did the same thing. I'm planning to return the product since it's obviously defective. Who wants to use an ac that stops working every 30 mins so you can drain the water?

Mine had two broken wheels and can't run more than 30 minutes without being drained either. The water tank holds only about 4oz. It is basically worthless. I'm hugely disappointed in this product.

ok. One of 2 Sharp ACs from Woot did not work at all and the second Sharp Air Conditioner turns on and everything but it filled up with water within a few hours. When I tried to lift it to a level that it could be drained, water just came out onto the floor without opening the cap. So I gave up and just used a towel.

The area being cooled is very small and not getting around. The modes that don't collect water are less effective than a fan. I just gave up and turnedbthe fan back on along with the AC.

The Sears repairman will be here in a few minutes to repair my LG AC bought lat year that took days before the water filled and it cooled a room double the size of the small room I have the Sharp AC in.

Got mine today, lop sided, complete with broken caster... Not looking forward to the chat with Sharp/woot to get this resolved.

Well Sharp invited me to cart all 80 lbs down to a repair center 30 minutes away to have the matter evaluated -- and that they would need to verify my recipt there. 10:1 odds the booklet being stamped no warranty means I'll have a hassle there. Woot on the other hand asked me to file a claim with FedEx and have the unit returned for a refund as no repair/replacement is possible through woot.

Both options suck and require me to jump through hoops for no good reason.

Same situation here. I will be calling Fedex for a return tag but I don't think it will be all that easy to get it returned.

For those with broken wheels - maybe strapping the AC to a movers dolly might be a good idea, something like this:

The casters that come with the unit look pretty weak anyway and probably would've broken if you move the unit around a lot.

I bought this for my daughter who lives in Chicago. I was going to take it to her house and set it up for her. My truck is in the shop and the other vehicle is a car. To get it there I need to lay it on its side. Will this damage the compressor? Will I need to stand it upright before I start it up. Its about a 2 hour drive up there. Thanks for the input.

Sorry about that. Please let us know if there are any issues with Sharp assisting with the item. service@woot.com

I reported that I had one AC that did not work at all and a second AC that had poor cool air distribution and spilled water when trying to empty it.

I contacted paypal who approved a full refund. I was required to ship the AC's back within 10 days with tracking and signature confirmation.

I called fedex and to return I needed to bring the AC's to their location and to pay shipping.
A PRP label from the seller was required to allow them to pick up. Woot and Sharp refused to pay shipping and it seemed to be more $$ than what it would be worth to ship when compared to the price of the AC's.

I called Sharp Customer Service who offered to repair the AC's under the 30 Day Warranty. It took an extra day to get Sharp to send a fax to the repair company to authorize Repairs because the repair company did not accept electronic receipts from goods purchased online.

Sharp provided the info for an authorized repair company in my zip code.

I got a couple of milk crates to raise each of the AC heights to make it easier to empty water. However the water did not fill up again since the first time. After trying different settings, and rearranging furniture to get the best angle for the AC, I found that it cooled the room thouroughly.

The repair men (2) came and it turned out the non working AC worked, you just had to push the reset button on the plug "stronger" according to the repairman. They put the AC on the milk crate after inspection and even carried the second one up another flight of stairs for me!

All is well that ends well, no broken wheels and both AC's are working well.

Did anyone else receive exhaust tube adapters that are too small to fit in the hole in the back of the AC?

Too much I could say about that 2nd to last "comment" but I won't.

Just for the Record... Mine also arrived with a broken caster. But it looks good and is functioning Fine. Seems like a very good A/C unit. although I have only ran the A/C for a couple hours and the ION plasmacluster over night just to make sure it works ok.

Actually... it didn't seem to be a problem but the Fan speed didn't always correlate with what the Remote said.

Hoping for the best...

I had the same problem but when the repairman came it worked. I said "what did you do?!" He said he pressed the breaker button and I told him I did that. He said press it stronger (harder). I asked which one. He said the top one.

Sharp repair - press numbers to get to customer service for Acs 800-237-4277 and provide info including the model number and serial number on your AC label on the back of the AC

mr_rolla wrote:I also took a closer look at the wheel - the bolt holes look like it's specific to this AC, which means you probably can't just buy a caster from a hardware store and bolt it into the same holes.

Mine came with one broken and at least one bent.

The caster isn't specific to the unit, but it seems to be metric, which makes it a little bit tougher to source on this continent... However, our buddies at a certain parent company do offer a replacement. It is a 3cm Nylon Twin Wheel Square Top Plate Swivel Caster on a 3cm square plate with 2cm hole spacing.

Fact is, these are the wrong casters for this unit, and the replacement's just going to break or bend far too soon.

My plan is to take all the wheels off and drop $25 on a movers dolly, which will both give this unit better wheels AND raise it off a ground a few extra inches for easier draining.

I feel like I'm the lucky one.
Mine worked great out of the box.
Ran for 12 hours keeping my tent very cool, with out changing the water.

As for noise, I couldn't hear it over my fan on medium.

For me? Works great. Ymmv

I want to add to the comments that mine arrived with a broken caster wheel and a broken window screen. I called sharp last week and they said their "advanced team" would call me in 48 hours. No call. Plus my unit arrived with stains on it. Bad call on this one woot. Bad call. My only consolation is that many others have had a bad experience as well. I now know why I've never been a fan of Sharp brand products.

Wheels are way too flimsy to support the weight of the unit. Be careful, with shipping they are $16 each. Not only that, but my unit came with discolored plastic. Looks like something rusted out and leaked all over the bottom of the outside of the unit. It still works, but I don't know for how long that will be true.

Good plan. I had the same thought as this thing is way too heavy for the wheels they have on it.

Help! My remote screen went blank (the remote still turns the unit off/on, so it sort of works), and now I'm not getting any cold air, as I can't adjust the temp or turn on the Max Cool. Has anyone else had this issue? Ideas?
