There are some things I just don't do myself: clean my house and do our taxes leap to mind. Leave those things in the hands of trained professionals. Passing on this one. Darn. Only need a couple more woots/wine.woots to get my new-colored box. Maybe next week...?

The end is near...drink big wine.

awesome deal, especially since it also comes with the will making software. I was about to buy the Quicken version, but at this price for tax+will its a great deal

software is very easy to use, ive been doing mine and friends/family for the past 6 years using H&R softs

just a Hilight recap for noobs to lazy to read the whole thread

Comes with:
2006 taxcut premium federal + state (you get to pick your state)
Will Maker Software (also lets you do estates and trusts)
256 MB usb stick- reusable

Will need:
Internet connection for software update and tax changes updates

Does Not include:
E-Filing (will cost ~16 for Federal and 16 for each state)

I agree for most filers - but I have personal and corporate (our businesses) taxes to file, so I leave the heavy lifting to my accountant. And I file two extensions

The general rule on the tax softwares: You have to buy the highest end edition to file a multi-state tax return.

On the TaxCut page they list different versions of the software. Is this Premium+State msrp $29.95, or Premium+State+E-File msrp $59.95? If it doesn't include E-File, is there an additional charge to file? What would that charge be? Sorry, but this isn't clear in the description to me so I can't tell if it's a good deal or not. Thanks!

I'm not quite understanding what this thing really does, is it like tax software on the drive, or what? I typically use turbo tax, is this compatible or do I even need it?

Different perspectives... Your area's cost of living must be pretty high. $52,000 is a king's salary for a single twentysomething in a small city. That's $25+/hour, or probably $600+ per week after taxes. Around here, a week of that would nearly get you a 2-bedroom apartment with heat and water included.

Tell me about it.. thats how much I pulled in last year (pre tax) and I still live at home with mum and dad. Lol. Kinda sux living in the land of microsofties and $6 cups of coffee.

Current damage total....

I love the idea of the software on a flash drive. But, I did my taxes and got my refund already. The software os great for those of you who still need to file. If I remember correctly, the electronic filing fee for Federal is $15.95 this year.

Um.... no. They sent you a CD that will let you buy the software online and then run. They send them to me all the time too, and tried to use it last year, and it was more expensive than just going to the store and buying the software there. I've been using TaxCut for years, and buy it at the store every year, and get the free after rebate stuff with it. Last year I got a Canon Pixma printer for free too.

Sent the following to Woot supportyesterday, they requested I send to RMA, so i resent today

Hi Woot Support Staff!
I recenty purchased and received H&R Block TaxCut Premium Federal &
State on 256MB Thumb Drive with woot order #--------

I purchased due to the product being advertised as having both the
TaxCut 2006 software and the WillPower will making software included

Exerpt from product blog: "Also included on the thumb drive are
thrilling items like Kiplinger's Tax and Financial Planning Library,
WILLpower estate-planning software, and a complete set of up-to-date IRS
publications. Don't stay up all night reading them!"

The product I received did not contain the Willpower software or the
Kiplingers libraries on the drive. It also makes no mention of either
anywhere on the packaging

Did I receive the wrong product version, or was this advertised
incorrectly?
If the wrong version was sent can I get the correct one with the
WillPower software?

Thanks,

taro13

Just to affirm every Mac user's fears: this does not work on your Macintosh without a Windows guest operating system.

Luckily for you, Parallels has a demo option that you can run for 15 days or something.
