the useful linkage blog has been linked... apparently the quality post gods like it better that way... sorry... anyways... comparison site linkage for this woot... all decent engines are represented.

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

If you are going to get this, do not use the Microsoft Streets and Trips software. It is REALLY bad, and it got me lost. It cannot find simple places. It is just horrible. The GPS Locater works fine since it is not manufactured by Microsoft. USB plugs into your laptop. Will work with 3rd party softwares which are MUCH better.

The fact that it works with my Pocket PC rocks!

Good deal at $50 (w/ shipping), but is NOT the current version. 2007 version is more GPS-friendly, and the included GPS is far more accurate (SurfStar III, where the 2006 version is SurfStar II).

I've used Streets & Trips since 2004, and it's definitely been one of my favorite M$ products!

Thats what its for dude. Its a cheap way to get a GPS unit if you already have a laptop

Do yourself a favor and get an actual GPS unit. I scored the Mio for under $200 and it rocks!

Will this announce the names of the streets/highways when connected to a laptop for safer driving?

How accurate is the GPS unit? Software comes and goes, but that little device might be the only hardware I get for a few years, so should I shell out for the one in the '07 package?

it works with pc's (including laptops) as well as windows-based PDAs and smartphones. it doesn't say anything about palm compatibility.

i've used streets and trips for many years. it works well as a standalone mapping program, and i've used it with a freestanding GPS unit just for fun. it seemed to work ok
