Everyone talks about how great woot's service is - well what about this? I bought a "refurb (rox0rz!)" product that evidently wasn't looked at by anybody since it came with a dead battery. Woot says in their policies I should contact the manufacturer directly. How convenient for them! They don't have to deal with me! If I insist on dealing with woot, sure, they'll refund my money, except for the shipping, and the shipping back to them! How fair is that? WHO sent out defective product? Why should I pay for their mistake? This is great service? This was my first woot, and what a disappointment it is. Maybe my last woot as well. Sure, it LOOKED like a great deal, and maybe it'll eventually turn out alright after dealing with the manufacturer, but it wasn't my intent to buy a non-working product from woot and then have to deal with someone else when it came to me DOA... I was expecting to be using this product out of the box - now it'll likely be a couple weeks more wait. Buyer beware!

They actually have that policy posted on their site...try reading the terms of sale before you make your next purchase.

From the "what is woot?" FAQ:

How do I return a defective product?

Unless we specifically tell you not to, call the manufacturer of the product you bought. You will likely get a replacement of a new model or better item from them. If we still haven't dissuaded you, email rma@woot.com with your woot order number, the name of the product you are returning, and the detailed problem with the item. We will respond with return authorization by the next business day. Because we aren't likely to have a replacement in stock, you should be prepared for a refund-only option if that's all we can do. Know that return freight will be at your expense. Again, you will probably get a better deal from the manufacturer, or whoever else handling customer service for that product.

The issue I have is not listed in their "terms". I bought a product that says for ipod/iphone, but the product showed up and it is clearly marked on the box "for ipod" only. So the product is not defective, I am not dumb, and I know if something fits....the iphone 16gb does not fit. the body is too large. So, i wrote an email to them and I am awaiting a response. I hope they dont think its ok to post these products with false or misleading information. We will see.

My guess is you bought the IPOD/IPHONE charger. I don't think there was any false advertising...check the forums (like most wooters do before we buy) there was a LOT of discussion of the IPHONEs that this item would work with, IIRC, and woot! staffers even (quite clearly) described which phone they used in the picture.
Plus, most wooters Google (or in my case Dogpile) the item before buying.
You're buying closeout merchandise at bargain prices. Woot! does a good job of describing what the item is (note that your IPHONE model was NOT mentioned in the description) and when they make a mistake, they own up to it. If Woot SAID it would work with YOUR phone, I'm sure they'll make it right. If they didn't, as they have so wisely counseled, sell it on Ebay.
Happy Wooting!!!!!

I did not receive a delivery and was told to contact Fedex who tell me to contact Woot

There is no telephone number for Woot so that makes dealing with them extremely slow.

I will not buy anything through Woot ever again until they provide telephone contacts.

Meanwhile if anyone at Woot cares I want either the item re-shipped or a full refund.

Case number: # W-405712-Y67C

You system fir customer service is a joke.

Did you contact FedEx to start a tracer with them? We're happy to do all we can to help you, but we need to first confirm that the package truly is lost, especially since it shows as delivered.

Please feel free to email back into service@woot.com and confirm that you've spoken with FedEx.

My first woot experience is, um, up in the air.

I almost didn't buy the 37" Sylvania LCD TV because it was refurbished, but the person who recommended woot said she was very satisfied with such.

The TV arrived two days ahead of schedule - good start.

But the first time I used it a problem showed up. The trouble-shooting guide in the owner's manual made one suggestion, which I followed. The problem cleared up - but then came back. Since then, it comes and goes.

So yesterday I called the manufacturer, who of course won't do anything because it's refurbished. Further, they said the problem will only get worse, will be very expensive to fix and I should ask woot for a replacement or refund.

That means refund, of course, since woot doesn't keep inventories. Boxing it up and sending it back will be a pain, so I waited a couple of days. What it's doing, of course, is getting worse.

So today I go to the Web site and click on return a defective product. It wants my "incoming e-mail" but when I give my address it says it is not a real address.

Well, yes it is. It's the same address in my account profile, and I have received e-mails from woot since I joined up. And e-mails from other folks today.

At this point it's time to get on the phone and talk to a person - but of course woot doesn't "doo" that.

It says the address is "non-responsive," or some such - and although the dialogue box suggests trying again later this has happened three times several hours apart.

If I refurbish this TV (again) at my expense, no matter how much or little it costs, that will have been the last time I deal with woot and this will be just the first uncomplimentary thing I write about 'em.

I have almost always received a response from woot cust service by the end of the next day. I don't think that is slow at all. And usually if you pepper the email with a witty remark or a joke, they will respond all the more quickly and with a joke in response.

Really disappointed in woot service. My perfect pull-up bar (yeah, yeah, I know) needs to get screwed into a door frame. Okay, no problem. Little do I know that the screws are over 1 1/4" long. So, instead of short screws with anchors, all I get are ridiculously long screws.
Why is this a problem? My door frames have metal studs distal to the frame (California, ergo earthquake prevention). If I had known there was something this ridiculously odd about the installation, I never would have bought it.
However, the message I get from service is a generic:

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on items ordered in error, don't like, etc. You might try selling it to a friend, coworker, on EBay or www.wootswap.com.

How about, "you sold me something that had such an unusual installation procedure that, had I known, I would have never ordered?" Like selling a lamp that only works with French power outlets.

The insult is more in getting the generic response. Boo woot. Thanks for the memories.

try pre drilling the holes, the screws should still go in regardless of the studs being metal. This scenario was also discussed in the forum of this product.

You think installing screws is an "unusual installation procedure". BTW the screws you mentioned are not "long" they are actually on the short side for this type of application. Also, using an anchor would require drilling a pilot hole, so you have to break out the drill either way.

this is exactly what happened to me! i waited 2 weeks to get a refurbished camera i ordered from woot and when it finally got here, i came to find the flash doesnt work. so, yea, off to kodak a day and $8 shipping charge later. i was also told if kodak finds that it was a shipping mistake they won't refund or replace the camera AND i'll have to pay a fee to them because they looked at it and then wait for it to come back so i can pay AGAIN to ship it back to woot and maybe just maybe get a refund of the original amount. i'm all for woot, but with such a crappy support system, i don't think i'll be ordering from them again.. unless it's a bag of random crap - i'd never not order a bag of random crap.

I bought an ipod touch from Woot. It was refurbished. It was a great price and I was all excited for it to arrive. ...and it was defective. Everything worked except when I wanted to go back a screen. The only way I could go back was to turn it off and start over. But the good part of this story is that Woot was very responsive to my request for a refund. I sent it back and got a full refund. I emailed the service@woot and got a same day response. No complaints here.

I bought a IROBOT SCOOBA FLOOR WASHING ROBOT, and it's the worst piece of garbage I've ever bouth. It takes forever (3 hrs. for small foller) it's noisy and gets stuck everywhere.
Please advide how to return. I want my money back. First time I return something from WOOT, not Woot's fault. I should have done some research on the product. I'll await your reply. Thank you,

I have a question. In December (22) I purchased a new 250GB hard drive for an Xbox 360. I received it and was saving it for a birthday present for my son. But I have been informed by coworkers that the hard drive I purchased will not fit my sons Xbox 360 because it is a new 360??? Is it possible to return this item to Woot?

I don't know if you will read this post by this time, but there IS a way to make the old HDD drive you bought work in your son's new 360. It's not even that hard and I've done it myself. Look up youtube for videos on how to do this.
In a nutshell, you disassemble the old HDD drive and put the hard drive that's inside the old HDD in the new xbox.

So I purchased two 16 GB TouchPads FIVE hours ago and the 32 GB TouchPads pop up. I'm not greedy, but these things haven't shipped yet and I'd LOVE to swap just ONE of them for a 32GB. (40th BDay present for the wife).

What's the chance I could upgrade the wife's TouchPad? (I've given up hoping for an actual upgrade in HER touching by now...)

I bought a VIZIO HDTV on 26th and recieved it two days ago. When I opened the box, the tv was already broken. The control panel on the right has been fell off and there is a big gap between the back and the front panel. Also the TV shut off very often without any warning. I really want to return it, i never intent to buy a broken TV for 550. For 550, I can buy a brand new TV for a smaller size.
