Well on that note. Anyone have one that didn't work fine. Dead LCD or backlight? What has your service been like from Woot and/or Westinghouse?

bummer....

right channel audio is dead, woot or westinghouse won't pick up return shipping.
$118 Fed -Ex ground, lowest I could find.

What's the deal if you do return it.

I guess if you send it back to woot you get money back minus shipping?

If you send it to Westinghouse you get another refurb (rox0rz!)?

I'll take it off your hands. I don't need the audio =)

The deal is I have to pay Fed Ex to ship it to Carrollton, TX and Woot
will refund my purchase price (I hope).
The other choice is to send it to Westinghouse, again my cost for shipping,
they'll fix it and send it back free.
Tough choice, the picture is perfect, best I've seen, but either way I'm
out the shipping. Didn't know I was rolling the dice for $118 when I bought it.

I ordered two of these. They are amazing. Firmware is 1.0 and 1.16

You can spend the same amount you would on shipping on a new receiver and speakers. You'd be better off than with the built ins. Unless of course the right audio exiting the TV is broken as well.. then it depends on the devices you're connecting to the TV and it's really not an optimal choice.

Also try UPS ground shipping. It may be cheaper than FedEx.

Ironic that I passed up the thermal gauge on woot a while back, but are any of yall's monitors getting really hot? After running for more than an hour or so the back of my tv gets VERY hot, I noticed it when plugging in a cable. I'm not good at estimating temperatures--it's not so hot that I have to jerk my hand off of it, but it would be unpleasant to hold my hand on it. Surely that can't be good for it....

I just got off of the phone with Westinghouse and although they sent Woot and then me a broken TV they are insisting that I pay for shipping one way.

Sigh. Sometimes I just hate the world.

Has anyone sent theirs in and gotten it back? If so, how long did it take?

I haven't even gotten mine yet.

It got halfway here and then got damaged in shipping, so it's on its way back to woot right now.

=(

Sucks that everyone is having such bad luck with these.

I'm tempted to order one "new in box" but I may have just as bad luck as you guys are with these refurbs.

I guess the only way to be safe is to buy one in a retail store?

that hardly a fair statement. With 367 sold here (according to the sell out stats), there's hardly 3% here with problems, and that includes shipping damage which is hardly woot/westy's fault.

I don't hae any problems anymore. Easy fix to the power thing and even easier to fix the power dips. Go out and buy a power conditioner. Shut off DPMS.

Amazing picture. I had no luck with sound but I have a 7.1 JVC I got from a side-woot and shut it off anyway.

If 3% of every thing a store sold had issues that made it unusable, how many more times would you shop there?

In this case, you are forced to pay 10% of the price of the monitor to ship it back.

I'm not saying this isn't a great deal, but if you are looking for an no hassle return/replacement policy then you are better off looking at something other than Westinghouse. Even still, I am thinking of getting one, just in new condition from someone that WILL pay return shipping back.

I agree with your last statement, if a consumer is risk averse, they should not buy refurb (rox0rz!) online - they should go buy brand new at a local retailer and pay more. As to the first statement - if you are buying electronics anywhere - you are going to get at least a 3% defect rate - as that is pretty much the minumum with electronics and computers. Some would say it's even as high as 8%. It just happens.

Well I got all three of mine, and they all work great!

No problems with any of the inputs I've tried (using component, HDMI, and DVI).

Funny thing, all three were different firmware revs. 1.16, 1.19, and 1.00.

I THINK the 1.16 might have a lower image quality at 1080i (HD channels on my digital cable over HDMI) but I'm not sure if it's a quality issue or if I just expect it in my head to be worse because of all the bad news I've read about 1.16.

Otherwise, I'm very happy

Well, mine's screen was damaged in shipping. Oh well, I'm buying a 47" one instead.

I just hooked up my Westinghouse LCD TV and the picture is fantastic. For those of you complaining that it isn't a TV unless it has a tuner, you should stop and blow your brains out. The Westinghouse is doing exactly what I and everyone who is buying an HDTV need it to do, take a signal from a digital cable box/ satellite receiver and display the content onto an HD screen. The display is great and if you can't afford digital cable / HD satellite you should not be buying a $1000.00 "monitor" to begin with.

I opened a case with Westinghouse on Tuesday of last week. The TV died after being hooked up for 14 days. The power came on but no audio no video. Still no reply from Westinghouse on my RMA, and they said I would need to pay shiping anyway. I am not going to risk them repairing a refurb (rox0rz!) and having another issue with it. I returned the item to WOOT, leason learned apparently

Anyone had any more luck recently with RMAing this TV? My TV won't work via HDMI, the TV turns off (Powers off) when I power on the DVD player that is connected via HDMI.

Maybe it is just a power issue, and I need a surge protector, but I am not so sure. I will try that.

Anyone else had issues like this?

I hope this 'thread ain't dead'

Just to set the record straight here, Woot really stepped up. Paid
the return shipping and full $1054.99 credit hit VISA today.
Thanks guys, you're the best.

That is great news. I am afraid that I have to send mine back as well -- The TV won't power on anymore..
I have had some issues with the TV relating to power -- It sometimes would just power off...
Also, I cannot plug in an HDMI device, the set shuts itself off when I do.

Ah, well. It is a shame, as this was an awesome TV.

After talking with Westinghouse Customer Service (They are very pleasant, but no solution), I have to send this Monitor back, even though I dont want to.

Yikes. TV powered off, and when I tried to power it back on... POP!

Warranty's up, of course... wonder how much it'll cost to get it checked out/fixed?

Now I'm glad I didn't sell the 32" I was using before.

I will never ever purchase another Westinghouse product again. Even though its not directly Woot's fault, the association with this thousand dollar burn is enough to have me stay away from here for any future purchases.

This unit flipped out a few days after the warranty expired. I can't find anywhere that will repair it. Westinghouse has the worst support network ever. Westinghouse will only repair Westinghouse products if they are under warranty. Service centers will only repair Westinghouse products if they are under warranty. One service center even went so far as to call Westinghouse TV's "disposable."
