Im surfing on this set as we speak.

I love this t.v.

The black levels are a little meh.

But for this price. It's a steal. HD DVD on this set is incredible. The dual DVI inputs, HDMI....its a perfect monitor. IF you're running a media center system, picture is great.

I'd buy it again if i had the money.

Didn't someone say that they would buy a flat panel during yesterday's twofer? Too bad this one is $1000 more than they were willing to pay.

I have a 37" lcd monitor and a 27" lcd tv Westinghouse. The 37" in the smaller brother to this one, and the 27" is an actual TV, not a monitor. My friend has this 42" one.

They all kick major arse. Westinghouse all the way!!!

Don't care about the tuner, but I dunno about spending that much on a refurb (rox0rz!). You can still pick up the warrentech warranty on a refurb (rox0rz!), though? Maybe in a few months. Or hell, put us like a 37" Vizio or a Olevia out there for like 550 and I'll bite.

I just got this EXACT tv only 37" to use as a monitor and I LOVE it. 1080p is my new love. And also paid the EXACT same price after shipping and everything, but mine is new instead of a refurb (rox0rz!). But still.

If you are in the market for a 1080p or a 42" LCD at all, Westinghouse are absolutely fantastic.

I thought after March 1st 2007 all TV’s sold had to have an ATSC tuner or it was just a monitor.

Not bad. just got a 42" Plasma 720P for $1150. 1080P 0n a set this small (!) doesn't really make much difference, but for that price who cares? Get a Tivo S3 and you are in business!

who cares about a TV tuner? you need an NTSC set top box to recieve HD over cable anyway, and that turns this into a 1080p HDTV. Only benefit of an ATSC tuner is for over-air broadcasts.

My fears / concerns:

Dead pixels? Would it be safe to assume that it would have MORE or LESS dead pixels than a new unit?
Descriptions says it 'can accept 1080p signals'. Does it really render it as 1080p? Is it able to keep up at the full framerate, resolution?

I wasn't impressed until I acually read it. 1080p on anything larger than my Desktop LCD would be GREAAAAT! But, I'm way too poor for this woot. At least I got my Levar Burton (Star Trek, ...La Forge?) Headphones last night.

Who needs a built-in tuner in 2007? My Samsung DLP has a tuner, but I don't use it, and the presence of it played no role in me buying my television whatsoever. That said, this seems like a nice set.

I guess I see what you're saying if you're talking monitor vs. TV, but I'd call my TV a TV even if there was no unused tuner.

Who needs a tuner? If you're using cable the cable box is the tuner and you never use it anyway.

Ok...

Westinghouse TV's are not made by Westinghouse.
Someone bought the name.

My parrents have a 32in LCD from Westinghouse, died within 2 months, sent it in for warranty, 2 months later it took an email to the president to get it back.

When yours breaks here is the emails of their management team...

Why is that a sad sad waste?? Most cable TV and SAT boxes have the HD tuner in them already and besides if people dont live near a metro area what would be the point of having an HD tuner?

I have bought refurbed from Woot before and it doesnt mean its been returned or used it has a chance it might be but it also has a chance that it is discontinued and woot bought them for cheap and is reselling them to people that will buy them for a discounted price.

I've had this TV since last summer (got it on sale at BB for $1499). I love it, but I hope they fixed the occasional power-on bug. And I can confirm that it accepts 1080p over component too (from my Xbox 360).

I purchased this very TV in 37" from newegg for $1,000. Very pleased with it. Very fast for gaming and good picture. No doubt you won't beat this price. If you're in the market for a LCD TV don't pass this up.

Because it will cost you another few hundred for something that is built in in most other moniters and tvs!

Westinghouse does make nice monitors though. This display is perfect for a computer.

"better" depends on a lot of factors. Plasma typically has better black levels, brighter picture and faster response time. LCD typically has fewer burn-in issues, response times are getting better and they have less screen glare (better for rooms with more light).
