Got mine yesterday... didn't have batteries until today, doh! I must say, for the price I woot'd this thing for, it was a steal. I couldn't tell mine wasn't new other than the R-E-F-U-R-B stamped on the back. I very soon discovered that the "sound effects" suck out loud. I disabled all of them and just set the EQ. Sounds great now. I even like the earbuds. Too bad I bought the Razer's during the last Woot Off.
Also, it appears that if your unit doesn't already have a version 2.x firmware, you are stuck with the latest version of the 1.x firmware, which is what I have. So far, so good. All my ID tags were accurately recognized and it's a breeze to navigate by artist/album. Didn't even bother to crack the "manual". Good Woot.
Edited to add: I also installed a Patriot 2GB SD card and it was immediately recognized and readily accepted my drag and drops. Just under $20 to my door from Newegg.

You put the player in the plastic thingy so the ports align with the holes. Close the two snaps at the top. Put the strap against the outside of case so that the velcro is facing the player, close the last snap over it. Thread the end of the strap through the plastic loop so that the player is facing out. You'll have the strap looped so that the velcro pieces face each other, you can put your arm inside the loop, and tighten it down.
In the VA Blue Ridge Mtns.

Favorites are made by holding down the middle (round) button. Holding the bottom button lets you set a repeat within a track.
It seems that the firmware versions are equilivant in functionality, so am going to leave it at 1.0.0.10a, unless there is a problem.
