Costco stores have a TDK 200-pack 8x DVD+R or DVD-R media for $42 in-store. At only $0.21 per disk, that's a deal... You can get them cheap if you shop around. They have PALLETS of them - I was there yesterday...

NO - I don't make money from that. Just trying to help...

hey for 24.99 it makes a pretty functional dvd player for your computer, and you can burn with it, although it is kinda slow. Ok really slow. but hey I got one.

For that dirt cheap price, it will make a DVD-ROM drive in a dual-drive system - and it is a CD-RW drive for cheap too.

I fix enough beater PCs to use them for people who don't know 4X from 16X DL DF lightscribe whuuut?

Now for something *I* use - naaaaa!

Heheh! I can't believe people complaining about 4x. It takes most people's software longer to compile the video than it takes to burn it. Who cares. 4x plenty good enough for just about anybody. What a great price. Give me more.

As others have said, given what you can find at Newegg and others,
a refurb 4x single-layer +RW-only drive should be $10 or less...if on w00t
at all. I'd rather officially have a BOC than an Item of Crap with a Non-Crap
price tag...then again, w00tn't we all rather have a BOC?

I wondered the same thing and this is what I "googled"

DVD-R:
Benefits: Better DVD playback compatiblity within home DVD players.
Drawbacks: Older technology and less money behind the format means that they come out with faster media and burner technology slower. You will frequently see DVD burners that will support (for instance) 16X DVD+R and only 8X DVD-R.

DVD+R:
Benefits: Faster speeds, more inovations like Double Layer discs (8.5 GB)
Drawbacks: Will not play is some home DVD players. If you know your home DVD player will play DVD+Rs then there is no reason to not use them.

DVD+R is a dvd disc that allows multiple layers for one disc where as dvd-r only allows one layer. Multi layer DVD+R can allow extra capacity per disc than DVD-R hence its high cost!

I think it makes a little more sense now.......yeahhhhhh ummmmmmm

Hey, guess what? Woot has started to censor posts. My last one was deleted because:
we're trying to improve our community by eliminating one-word type posts, and unhelpful posts of little value

Woot claims to sell cool stuff for cheap. I tend to disagree. When I see a product that is lame I will say that it is "lame"

Thanks

PS This will probably be censored before you even get to read it.

Lame for you, but in reality just means you don't need it.

I would censor your BS too, most people that talk on here come to complain. Yet this did manage to sell out didn't it?

Maybe its lame to expect that everything on here should be for you to buy.

Fact is, if you want a cheap burner, and aren't concerned about speed, what's 25 bucks?

It's the difference of waiting 30 minutes to burn something vs. 2 hours.

after $50 rebate, and there aren't much left. and you pay minimum $8.50 shipping

so $25 no rebate, for a burner, I'd take it if I needed it, and was still available.

aarknader

quality posts: 0 Private Messages aarknader

$1.99 shipping.

And they've had it for at least 4 weeks, despite the quantity shown. I already got my rebate.
