Yeah, for a little while last night I considered it just because woot's made purchasing easy and convenient. I have two old boxes that presently just have CD players, being able to read DVD and burn CD-R would be quite an improvement. But eventually I decided I have still better uses for $45

Don't forget shipping charge. You can get a new 16X dual layer for $40 shipped

Very true. Quite a few out there for $40.

But since dual layer blanks are going for about $3 a pop, and you can get 8x single layer blanks for about 25 cents, I doubt too many people are actually burning dual layers at this point.

Hmmm, my computer doesn't have anythign for DVD format in it yet . . .

I don't want to spend a lot of money on a DVD drive . . .

I don't need that much storage space, so I won't be burning 8 DVD's in the course of a day, more like maybe one/week, so speed isn't a factor . . .

I just want something functional and cheap.

Guess what? This woot works for me!

In for one. Been staying up late for Woots for months now and this is my first purchase.

Don't whine. Don't complain. Buy or don't buy.

And they've had it for at least 4 weeks, despite the quantity shown. I already got my rebate.

No, Deweypc20 is right, it is $8.50 shipping, they just call part of it a $6.50 "handling fee".

You have to purchase over $25 to get the $2 shipping - I think...

Yes, then they add a $6.50 "handling fee" to the $1.99 "shipping fee", total of $8.49.

Forgot about the handling fee.

Still ends up $12.99+ $1.99 + $6.50 = $21.48

Doesn't come with any software at all, btw.

I use Nero and DVD Shrink.

According to obob's post, he was considering 2 DVD drives for "two old boxes that presently just have CD players...".
That would be about $45 shipped from Woot.

ps- Thanks DontYouKnow for the Costco link.

Fist off, the negative posts outnmber positive at LEAST 5 to 1, which is rather un-nerving considering the gun was probably removed from your head prior to typing www.woot.com at midnight on a Saturday....

That said, who are these people writing DVD's at such a uncredible pace - 4/8X and above?

"I NEED THAT DVD NOW, GOD DAMMIT!!!"

Not to mention the quality and success rate of burnig slower...hold on, someone is calling...

"I NEEDED THAT DVD 5 MINUTES AGO!"

some of you, come on, pathetic.

The feeding frenzy over tech like this is kind of interesting. newegg will sell you a brand new, much faster, +/- compatible burner from a better manufacturer for about $18 more. I guess if you are on a really tight budget, this might be a good deal, but I can't imagine most people wouldn't benefit from spending the extra cash.

This DVDRW drive didn't come with Driver. Is anyone help me finding it?

OneWing

Win XP straight plug and play on mine.

No driver download necessary. Didn't even give me new hardware wizard. Just told me it found it and then that it was installed. Works fine for me.

I don't think my status has changed to 'shipped' either.

Not to mention it's been this long already. Guess I'll go send an email to that service address.
