Yeah, but the style is incompatible with an iPod. It may cause unknown side effects, so I'd suggest spraying it glossy white first.

Isn't "3 watts" the peak output? Even if it's turned all the way up, playing normal music is only rarely going to hit the maximum, music rises and falls in volume.

Besides that, the 24 hour operating time is probably based on a "normal" volume setting, not maximum volume. Which is fair (if they picked a reasonable "normal") since most people don't turn the volume up to max.

First of all, this is what it is:
"True digital 2.1 stereo delivered through two 3W tweeters and 3W sub-woofer (RMS)"

TWO 3 watt tweeters + ONE 3 watt sub = 9 watts.

Also, that is RMS power - RMS is an abbreviation for "root means square" RMS is NOT peak power. Peak power ratings refer to the amount of power an amplifier produces, or a speaker can handle, for a brief musical burst — like the crack of a kick drum. RMS power describes the amount of continuous power an amplifier produces, or a speaker can handle. The RMS power rating is always the more significant number, as it is a more accurate reflection of a component's performance in daily use.

It would be nice if before posting, you read the comments if you are going to ask a stupid question. They have all been answered. It is what it is and it is a bargain. Enough said.

Here is a scarry quote from the a Cnet posted review:

The stats in the box say 20 hours on a set of batteries. I've only just tried mine for the first time (my brother had the speaker for the last few months), and I'm using rechargeables, so I can't comment otherwise. Sound is great, though!

I think you'd be hard pressed to find anything that'll keep a charge as long as you're looking for, unless it's hooked up to a car battery.

Don't expect too much. Their only redeeming value is their portability, sound quality is no better than small computer speakers & volume is limited by distortion.

I'm reading reviews and eceryone seems to think they sound very good. I bought these to use for my Sony Network Walkman NW-HD1, which has line out, so hoping the line out feature sounds good on these speakers. It'll have to be better than my SRS-M30s...

"you missed it" seems to be the sign used when the product didnt sell out, but the site is in the transition of bringing down one and putting up the next product. I've only seen it when refreshing at night to get the new item before work.

I WAS going to ask a similar question.... "Did you plug the cable into a working audio device?"

Doesn't have to be either plugged in or have batteries to get the bass speaker to pop up. But you do have to [press down pretty hard to get the mechanism to release and slowly raise. At first I thought both of mine were broken out of the box as well. But then, out of frustration, I pressed down harder then I would have thought needed (or safe) and it slowly raised up.

It comes with a (two male end) 3.5mm - 1/8" cable. One end into your audio device's speaker/headphone out jack and the other into the speaker. The analog signal is carried into the speakers and life (in the form of sound) is created for all who are near to experience. It's like magic, but not really. It may also make a sound if it happens to land in a forest; and a tree falls on it - but that's unconfirmed.

Another reviewer did mention that they replaced the supplied 3.5>3.5 mini-jack cable with a smaller one and they got better sound. I am still a bit concerned with the battery life. I got the Logitech mm28 flat panel on Woot and love it! The sound & battery life is excellent! From what I have seen, most of the good reviews of this are from people who keep them plugged in. The 4 AAA battery thing is also a bit of a drag. I have tons of AA rechargables, but not many AAA's - and it seems like this burns the batteries much faster. I've never even used the AC adapter on the Logitech!

No, but you can buy a cable with RCA plugs on one end and a 3.5mm miniplug on the other. Shouldn't cost more than $3-4 at Radio Shack or any electronics store.

Edited to add: here's what you need: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102974&cp=&sr=1&origkw=rca+1%2F8%22&kw=rca+1%2F8&parentPage=search

My current 2-piece Radio Shack speakers run for a huge amount of time on 4 Cs. I think I just need to not consider speakers with small batteries. ;)

They would work perfectly fine with a Network Walkman NW-S705. Although I don't think the S700 series has a line out jack, although not many mp3 players do these days. In my opnion, line out is a must in mp3 players for use with stereo systems. I bought the speaker system today from J&R after this sold out. If you really want them, it's only $6 more at J&R.
