For whatever reason, the 1980s were the Golden Age of helicopter-based action programming. Blue Thunder the motion picture begat Blue Thunder the TV series begat Airwolf the rip-off TV series, and for a few shining years, America's rotor blades throbbed with high-flying excitement, invariably set to a grunting, soulless FM-rock score. Then a merciful God put a stop to all that, in favor of movies where little kids get shrunk down to miniature size. We think today's Ecoman MicroGear MiniRC Helicopter could combine both of these classic film genres, like this:

Put the Ecoman Microgear mini-helicopter in its own movie or TV show about its miniature adventures in mini-world.

What the hell are we talking about? Maybe it can airlift some ants to safety before an encroaching puddle destroys their anthill. Maybe it can wage airborne warfare against fearsome Colombian horsefly cocaine dealers. Maybe it can do something else on a tiny scale that doesn't involve insects, although we can't think of any such examples right now. You can make your image a scene from the movie/show, a DVD cover, a movie poster, whatever. Just make sure you retain the high-flying, fast-chopping spirit of those original copter capers, albeit on a much smaller scale.

Here are some additional photos of the Ecoman Microgear that might work better than the ones in the current sale: 1 2

Post your entry here by 11:59 PM CDT on Sunday, July 15, 2007. Prizes are $20/$50/$100 for 3rd/2nd/1st. The rules and criteria for winning: our panel of geniuses can and will make stuff up as it goes along. Use Photoshop, pen and ink, collage, MSPaint, scrimshaw carving, tattoos, ice sculpture, whatever, but it’ll only be judged if it’s visible in our forums as a jpg, gif, or png. As we are fond of saying, try to keep your maximum width to 450px. If you need a place to host your pictures, try www.imageshack.ws or www.photobucket.com. We have no connection to either, but they seem free and easy to use. And if you want us to be sure your entry was indeed your work, post links to your source images. The more sure we are that you did your own work, the more likely we are to consider it for a prize.

Past money winners:
If you'd like to nominate any entries from this week's contest, email your selections (with links to each individual post) to Jason Toon at jtoon@woot.com by noon CDT on Monday, July 16.
