Well Miss Pickles(our Basset Hound) has no problems with Miss Ruby at all! Which is the craziest thing because she absolutely HATES our full size Vacuum! She runs around the room and howls her head off. But with Miss Ruby Roomba she just lays down in the floor until she gets bumped outtah the way! It is a funny thing to behold. : )

Snag your order number from your account and plug it in as the reference number here. Not guaranteed to work, but it frequently does.

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

This is only my second woot, but if memory serves the first item I ordered was right after a woot-off or Bandolier of Carrots or something and it took a few weeks to get.

Woot Date: 3/27/2007
Ship Date: 4/9/2007 (that's about 10 working days)
Recevied Date: 4/12/2007 (I'm on the east coast)

..they apperantly have a hard time keeping up when they have woot offs, bag-o-crap days, or really popular items. I think woot needs to reduce the amount of food they give the shipping servants and "encourage" them to work faster.

Yeah, mine left TX @ 7AM. I'm not holding my breath that it'll be here when I get home.

The items shipped by smart post have already made it to LA on their trip to Oregon. I guess it's a dead heat between FedEx and USPS working with FedEx. The part that makes me laugh with this, I can get a netflix movie in less than 3 days from Maine. For small, light items, a 41 cent stamp would do just fine (and arrive fairly quickly.) In fact if it was an option (at your own risk of loss, etc.) I'd take USPS for the small light items. I wouldn't fear them being picked up by my neighbors in my apartment complex as the mailbox is locked up.

"Miss Ruby" Roomba works great on pet hair! I was amazed the first time we used her in the den/kitchen area! I actually found myself sitting there watching her go this way and that, and under the chairs, and transition from the carpet to the tile...it was really cool! The amount of basset hound hair she got up was awesome! We continue to use her every other night. We just turn her on before we go to bed and she cleans for about 2 hours then puts herself to bed.. to charge. Who ever designed these little guys had to have a sense of humor. For instance, when Miss Ruby puts herself up to charge..she plays the charge tune! You will know when she is done for the night because you will hear "da da daaaa daa daaaaaaa!!!" my wife and I both usually look at each other and yell "CHARGE!" : ) Also if her little butt falls off(dustbin compartment) she just sits there with an "Oh-Oh!" beeping noise. All-in-all we LOVE Miss Ruby! Just bought this last deal for my aunt! You will find that the roomba will become part of the family, and you might even name it...yes as a matter of fact I might just be crazy! : )

Our robot came today. I charged it up and set it free on my kitchen floor. It was definitely cool to watch-and kept my kids entertained for a while-which is always good. I then put it on its base to charge-and apparantly my 4 year old daughter has taken a special fondness to it as she then proceeded to sing it a lullaby-and give it a kiss and hug goodnight. The Roomba feels right at home already.

I just recieved this device and it works extremely well. I have mainly ceramic tiles and/or hardwood floors and this device is a blessing. I just push the clean button, leave for work, come back home and the the entire floor is picked up, clean as a whistle.

Wellllllllll That can easily be solved by the Owner purchasing a "Scooba" !! I have been waiting patiently for one to come up on the WOOT! page, so I can get one. If you go to WWW.irobot.com you can see how much they cost and all that. You can also see how much money WOOT! just saved you! COOL! So does this mean we are gonna call her Rosie? My first choice for my Aunts was "Jeeves" but unfortunately Because it is a present for her she will get to name it! Be forewarned...The first couple of days you will find yourself sitting there and watching it uncontrollably! You will do just like I did and pick a mental spot on the floor to see if it will miss it and it wont! heh heh Have a great one! : ) Oh and the Wifey and I are going to get those little stick on flat eyes and put on the top of Miss Ruby!

Well Lucy (the cat) doesn't like Rosie. There is one place it doesn't get (carpet/tile boundary the cat litter gathers there) but overall I'm happy with it. The interesting thing, it won't go through a virtual wall when going to home base. Thus if I set up the walls badly (which I did earlier) it will eventually give up when trying to get a charge.

Yep I had Miss Ruby do that very same thing. the docking station uses Infra red just like the virtual wall and it won't go past the wall. I also noticed that it has a hard time docking itself on carpet? We either had to put the station against a wall on on the tile floor to get her to dock properly and charge. Gave my aunt hers and she has called and informed me that she loves it! She said her and my uncle sat there and watched it go under the couch and around everything, the named theirs "Peetro" after me. I asked them when I had ever came over and cleaned their house???? : )

Mine cleaned my office yesterday. People kept coming in to watch it. Then when we told him to return to the base we'd cheer when he was just about to do it, and scream when he missed it.

At home, it's doing an AMAZING job. One cat hates it. He just watches him from a distance and runs away if it gets to close. The other cat follows him around but can't decide if it's a friend or foe.

My wife has decided we need another Roomba now..Eduardo is lonely.

It docks fine on carpet for me, provided that the dock is against a wall. The bigger issue I'm having is that it runs for less than an hour and doesn't go back to charge. (The power button just turns red and it stops moving.) According to the manual it should run for 2 hours in max mode, 1 hour in clean. What has been your experience? Do I need to contact iRobot for new battery?

Out side of that it seems to work great, may get the pet kit and the scheduler at some point.

I found this on the irobot website...it also has a video to show you as well:

How to address short charge and runtime on Roomba.

Your Roomba may be experiencing an issue where the battery is deeply discharged and may need to charge longer than the standard 2.5 hours. (or 6 hours if you have a standard charger)

If you have fully charged your Battery (the Roomba Power light is solid green) and its charging time was short (less than 20 minutes) and its run time was short (less than 20 minutes) you will need to do the following.

1. Reset the Roomba charging system. Do this by removing the Battery and holding down the “power” button for at least 5 seconds. Then reinstall the Battery.

2. Plug the Charger into Roomba (avoid using the Home Base® if you have one so as to ensure the Roomba’s charging cycle is not interrupted.)

3. Charge the Battery until the Roomba Power light is solid green and keep the Roomba on the Charger for an additional 72 hours (3 days). Note: Do not interrupt this charging cycle.

4. In Max mode, run the Roomba for one complete cycle without a Home Base present, to deplete the battery. Keep track of the runtime and if it has improved, repeat steps 3 and 4 a few times. If your Roomba does not have Max mode, run several Clean cycles until Roomba stops and plays the "dead battery" song.

Hope this helps!

Saw that too. My run time is much greater than 20 minutes, but less than expected. Basically it is acting like an old battery (one with a few dead cells). But I suppose it's worth a shot.

We got ours a few days ago, and finally got it set up and charged overnight. We watched it for about 15 minutes, until I started to think "it's not picking up anything..." After stopping it, I pulled out teh dirt cage and was stunned by how much crap it had picked up!

Even though it acts like a drunk, giraffe-like puppy, we're very happy with the Roomba. Thanks woot!

iRobot wrote back to my question:

Thank you for contacting iRobot Customer Support.

If your battery is new, it may take a few charging cycles for the battery to reach maximum capacity and optimal run time. This is normal for nickel based rechargeable batteries.

Keep the Roomba plugged in and charging when you are not using the robot, this will ensure that the battery always has a full charge and will be ready when you need to clean.

It is also important to occasionally remove the brushes and clean them thoroughly as well as cleaning and replacing the filter. Failing to do so will result in shorter run times with the battery.

On the Discovery Series you may need to reset the memory on the robot if you are experiencing charging issues. To do this:

1. Remove the battery from the Roomba.
2. Press and Hold the POWER button on the Roomba for 5 seconds.
3. Reinstall the battery into the Roomba and make sure you hear two distinct clicks.
4. Charge the Roomba for 3 hours on the gray Fast Charger, or 6 hours on the black Standard Charger.
5. Run the Roomba on the MAX cycle, or until the battery is completely depleted if you do not have the MAX option.
6. Fully charge the Roomba again, and repeat steps 5 and 6 three to four times total.

Just in case anyone else sees the same issue.

They are sending me another one.

I already own a Roomba Red. It acts like I would expect. It cleans awhile then "follows" the wall to get all the stuff against the wall board. When it hits a wall it turns and goes the other way.

This more expensive Discovery acts like a giraffe-like moron, never follows the wall and can't even dock itself.

Here are some vids I took of it acting stupid. (Couple cuss words in the last vid as I was getting frustrated it couldn’t dock even though it was but a few feet away).

I've been using mine for a couple of days and it works pretty well.
2 small problems.
1. The Docking station is a piece of junk. Cheap plastic with a short cable and a power brick that get's in the way.
2. It's not HEPA filtered so it kicks up a lot of dust.
