This was my first Woot. It works pretty well, great price, but it has some quirks.
About 4 months after having it, it started to randomly stop, make grinding sounds and basically broke. Next day, it was working just fine - checked/cleaned the parts, etc. Still works fine 3 months from that point. Go figure. Also, despite the 'stair sensor', it can nearly fall off and get in a stuck mode. It also doesn't like floor mounted heater vents - it will back up and get stuck in the air - very strange. Lastly, the virtual walls don't see to work anymore - maybe I need new batteries, but cripes, I only used them a couple times. Despite the limitations, it works great for some who doesn't have the time to vacuum regularly after his wife's 4 cats. I turn it loose once a week and it cleans throughly for a round object. Too bad it doesn't work on stairs :-)

I thought the same thing, but was shocked to see how well the little beast actually cleans, picks up a ton of dirt and loads of hair.
Very impressed with it.

Don't take this so seriously. Woot is just fun stuff. As an educator, the daily descriptions reflect excellent, well=crafted writing skills, so I anticipate each day's offering, regardless of the item being Wooted.

Besides, there are far more important things in life that obsessing over a bunch of fictional characters.

As for the "crappy Woot" reference, you obviously don't own a Roomba. I continue to be amazed at its cleaning capacity, and now own five, two of which will be holiday gifts.

Ditto(except for the owning five)! Get real people! Do you really think these guys have taken the time to read the book already, even if they ever intend to? Why isn't anyone commenting on how ribs it is that Ron joined the Tribulation Force from the Left Behind series?

PS Roombas are ribs!

good thing a have a couple of spares...

Mine did that after a couple of months, sent it back to iRobot and I swear it was back 2 days later. Good as new. Not sure if they just sent a whole new one or what, but the service was fantastic.

What a great idea. I teach high school kids, who are well on their way to fulfilling the second half of your motto, who might get a kick out of that.
Problems: Mine's still new. How to deduct it from my income tax? If I can use any of the parts on a new one when my students take it all apart and leave it that way when they lose interest?
By the way, my wife would say I fit your motto also.

The scheduler one was refurbished as this one is new. I also would prefer the scheduler but having a new one with new batterys may sway me. i am still debating if i want to buy this or a new hand vacuum from hoover or bistell

HOORAY!

I've been lusting after a Roomba ever since I knew they existed. I haven't been able to justify spending the money though, and half the reason I joined woot was in the hopes of getting one. Then I missed the one in the woot-off, cried a few tears of despair, and now...now I will have one at last!

Too many woots to count!

Got the same model on a Woot about 6 months ago. Our house is a lot cleaner now 'cause we do like running him (yeah, he's a real member of the family). We put him in one room at a time when we leave the house. Now we spend our time rolling chairs out of the way and picking up the toys to give him free reign. When we get home we all ooh and ah at what he picked up; doesn't even seem weird to act this way any more.

we have this exact model and package, bought here. really works well, and going strong now for six months despite the wife and kid's best efforts. great job on birdseed, alot of which is deposited on our carpets by crazy birds who have gotten used to the roomba, altho they won't take their eyes off of it if it's around.
no cat pics
hell no cats at all here.
buy this!

i have one - its loud enought that i wouldn't be able to use it while i sleep (but i live in a small apt.). it does clean pretty well though - i like it alot. it works best on tile and parquay and wood and stuff, i think. it can get lost sometimes in other rooms and not find its way back to base, but its always really easy to find. my first woot about a year ago, and a great purchase.

This was my first woot about 8 months ago and I absolutely love him. His name is Sammy and is the most useful thing I've ever owned. I run him every 2-3 days and have never had a problem with him. I think the key is to keep him clean. Never any problems with the battery.

Okay, here's a question and hopefully the answer will also provide an answer for the poster earlier (the one in college) who said they have only hard floors...

Does the Scooba vacuum/mop? Or is it strictly a mopping unit?
Also, if it doesn't...will the Roomba do anything on hardwood/linoleum flooring?

Thanks for the help.

"I'm thinking about getting this for my grandma. Is it easy to figure out? "

Plug the base station in, let it charge till the green light come on, press clean, it starts working. When its full, remove hopper, and clean out air filter. Once in a while you need to clean out the rollers. Mine is smart enough to roll back on the charger. I love the litttle smurfer.

Tell Woot to put the new KIRBY'S on sale...now THAT'S a vacuum!

They do ALL sorts of different things, which at first doesn't seem that great, but I use it all the time.

These look like fun little gadgets and what not but there's no way that tiny thing can REALLY get the deep deep dirt out.

If it works good on picking up dog hair off of a tiled floor, then it'd be somewhat usefull, having it just run all day.

I though these only showed up during a woot-off. I guess they must be pretty good since they show up so often. How reliable are they? Do they require a lot of maintenance?

It says in the manual that you don't have to vacuum first, but I normally do. I only used my Scooba a few times before the battery went bad I am hopping Irobot will take care of it. The Vacuum motor on my Roomba fail after about 4 months. I took it apart and verified it was a bad vac motor and they replaced it no questions. They didn't whine about the fact that I took it apart they just sent me a new motor. I thought that was pretty good.

I have this model and have the same problem.. However I have 2 other irobots (Dirt Dog and iRobot Create) so I tried the slow sharger instead of the fast one and while it takes a while to charge (i let it run overnight) i get a full charge out of it... I think there's issues with the fast charger, might want to try getting a slower charger and see if that helps;.

If that's the case, I think your battery is defective and you should return it.
