This is pointless junk. Good for... a paperweight?
Where to start...
--You could buy all these crap parts brand new for about the same price, maybe less, including a new Operating System.
--It's got Vista, which in itself isn't bad, yet it only has 1gb of ram, Vista uses about half of that at all times.
--It has only two DIMMs (ram slots), and no doubt it comes with 2x512mb sticks, forcing you to buy all new ram to upgrade, not add some more.
--It has on-board video, also a poor choice for Vista, though this is the stripped down "home" version. Don't even consider gaming with on-board.
--The motherboard, an ECS which is also not good, doesn't support any of the new Core and Core2Duo processors, so no upgrading there either.
--There's only one internal 3.5 bay, which is already in use, so you can't add a second Hard Drive.
--It only has one available sata port, and the single Parallel ATA connection is already used by the optical drive. Second sata port is basically useless unless you buy a sata optical drive.
The only thing positive about it is it does have a PCI Express x16 slot for a graphics card, but I'm sure the power supply is horribly undersized to run a decent video card anyways, and being a Compaq, it may have proprietary connections that would prevent upgrading the psu.
btw - For all of you hating on Vista, it's actually gotten alot better in recent months. I have a dual boot setup running on my main rig, and I rarely use XP anymore since Vista is running stable for me for quite some time. I only use XP now for the apps/games that don't work with Vista. All new OS's have growing pains, XP was no different. Whoever said they'd rather run winMe is insane. Don't even get me started on that joke of an OS.
Still want it? I hope all you plan to do is word processing and web surfing.
