Nah. I've messed with my registry before. And I did see the zunescape thing. I just wanna be sure that it works, cos I don't ever backup my registry before i do stuff to it. and it'll be pretty sad if i end up putting my comp in extended hibernation by screwing up the registry, and still not being able to use the zune like a hdd..

but then, i guess i won't even need it to work like an hdd any more...

I ordered and paid for the Microsoft Zune 30GB Digital Media Player Black, but it's never arrived. FedEx says it's lost and won't do anything more and service@woot.com won't respond to my emails. Any suggestions on how to handle this? This was my first purchase with woot, other than a t-shirt recently. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Service@woot.com is currently behind(As last I read, now iwth the wootoff probly more). It may take 48 hours after you sent the email for them to reply

I know Woot enjoys being able to not offer phone customer service...I mean really..who would want to deal with constant phone calls. Especially, if their items weren't arriving on time. And of course making tracking of the item easy and seamless with a simple call would be too much trouble.

I've been waiting over a week to receive my Black Microsoft Zune - 30GB, and the tracking number that the Wootenari has provided is bunk. The link tells me that I should have received the item by yesterday at my PO Box through FedEx Smartpost. FedEx or USPS can't seem to handle the tracking number. Please someone, help....before I never order anything from Woot again.....Great deals, if they ever make to your house.

First off, you havn't been waiting over a month. Not even a month yet.

Your Join date: Oct 5th

Now, I dont know if you got it through a regular woot or the VIP sale. If you got it through a regular woot the first sale of it snice the fifth was the 15th. So you have the 5 days to get it shipped, oct 20, and thats only if there wasnt a back up of any kind. If woot got the shipping part ready late on the fifth day the fedex truck will wait to pick it up the next day. So the 21st. Thats 8 days in shipping. Could mean several things, Fedex cant find your house, the driver for your area is lazy and just marks could not deliver for some reason, its stuck at a fedex place somewhere.

I also dont know if you have a tracking number or not.

If you do, whats the status of it? Is it in fedexs hands? If so why are you blaming woot?

If you dont, have you tried the reference number trick? Put your order number in as a reference and country as well as zipcode. That sometimes works.

If neither of those work, have you emailed service@woot.com? If you havn't why are you whining, they sold 10s of thousands of these, while it would be great if all the sudden they would be like oh frozen banana stick we missed one, but its not that easy. If you email them they will go and check to see and be like, oh, sorry, heres the product. Though it may take a day or two for the email to be returned as they have aback up of them right now.

I had an email off Woot last week saying the Brown had been substituted for a black one and the Zune Travel Pack as a gift. I received the tracking ] yesterday, FedEx shows it has being scheduled for delivery Thursday. I will update you and let you know what I receive.

I emailed service@woot.com last Thursday, still no reply from them.

I hope I get what they have promised.

i am leaning towards driver error because i know for a fact that my fedex driver rings my bell once (if at all) and then walks back the truck right away so when i get to the door he is practically ready to drive away. I guess he expects me to be waiting all day for him to show up.

I just got mine in today. I'm really paranoid about that battery problem people mentioned earlier. How can I know if mine's victim?

When I first took it out of the box, before plugging it into my computer, I held play for a second or two and then an icon popped on screen that was like an empty battery with an exclamation mark in the middle. When I plug it in to my computer it shows a power plug inside a battery, which I assume means it's charging. If I hold play while it's plugged in, nothing happens.

It's been charging about 5 minutes, it still does that exclamation-battery thing.

Is this defective?

no, if the battery is dead, you are supposed to charge it for at least 3 hours to get a full battery, if you charge it for that long and it still happens, then it is defective. hope this helps.

Ok, for those with dead batteries... you can buy a replacement Ipod 5th Gen Video replacement battery, and install that in the zune. I went out and bought one for $20.... opened up the zune, and turns out the original battery wasnt even connected to anything. So connected the original battery, and it works perfectly now.....

As promised, the Zune arrived Friday. it was a substituted BLACK Zune, which I think was a bonus in itself, but Woot also included the Zune Travel Pack. A great FREE bonus. I know you can buy third party accessories on feebay, but even those, if they included all the bits that come with the Zune Travel Pack, would probably cost $ 30 inc. S&H. I would have bought an AC charger anyway. A great bonus from Woot. Tested the unit and the battery is fine too. I'm a very happy wooter.

Well, Fedex claims to have delivered mine on Saturday, Nov. 3rd, except that I was home when they state they left it at my front door, and there is NO package there.

I know this is not directly Woot's fault, but I have worked for e-tail and it does reflect on the system as a whole when there is an error like this. Will contact Fedex again when they open tomorrow, and hopefully will hear back from Woot on the email I left them.

Sad, it was my first Woot as well. Again I don't blame Woot, but could they help me here please.

Problems with Zune units should be address to Microsoft. Your Zune comes with a one year warranty. They will likely walk you through the basic troubleshooting steps and, if they determine you need a repair/replacement, should send you a box.

Problems with mis-delivery or no delivery should have service@woot.com as their point of contact. Please make sure to include your order number. Note that service is still a bit behind, but they are working through the queue as quickly as they can.

attention all who bought one:

if u are having any problems with your zune initially, i strongly recommend you leave it charging overnight the very first time. It will not take 3 hours as they say, if you are charging from a laptop, it took me about 6. the device will not 'work' until it is fully charged for the first time, then the computer will recognize it. i wish i had known this, aka microsoft had made this more clear. hopefully i will save people from going to the trouble i went through.

make sure its a usb 2.0 extention cable, some older cables for usb 1.1 are lower grade and cause errors, ive run into that with usb external hard drives and older extension cables.
