I may be late in replying to this, but why would you want to? Just spend 10-15 bucks on a headset, or spend 30 for a nice USB headset.

I haven't seen this answered yet--

Can you use other wired headphones in place of the stock ones, or are they non-replaceable?

It's been talked about all through the thread: the headphones are not replaceable per se; however, you can snip the wires and solder in the jack of your choice (3.5mm would be a good one for headphones). At that point, plug in anything you want.

It's you... Woot advertizes they will ship in about 5 days and it's nowhere near that yet. Also, this is going out smartpost which is never all that zippy.

Granted, however in the past they usually beat that 5 days by quite a bit.

Can I use the pendant gadget to connect to the laptop via Bluetooth while I Skype with my SO (who is currently in Ecuador)? Right now I use headphones attached to the headphone jack while using Skype. There's too much feedback when using the built-in speaker. When I use Bluetooth, will that mute the built-in speaker and turn off the built-in microphone so I can Skype just using the Bluetooth headset? If the pendant won't communicate directly with the laptop, I'm guessing I can just plug the dongle into the laptop's headphone jack and use it as wireless headphones, and use the laptop's built-in mic, right?

When not using Skype, can I plug the dongle thingy into my Sansa mp3 player and put the two of them in my pocket or backpack and listen to my tunes through the pendant gadget? I don't own a cellphone so that's not an issue.

If you are using Tiger you may have audio quality issues with the headset. The bluetooth headset profile supported by the bluetooth stack in Tiger is only meant for the cellphone style headsets. The sound quality is horrible and may only come through one ear. If however you are running Leopard then you should be able to do the higher quality sound as it supports the higher quality stereo a2dp profile.

Typically, when it ships you'll get an email with a tracking number, as well as updated status under "your account." Sometimes we mess up and don't get it out in time, though. You might be able to sneak a peek via track by reference if it's shipping Fedex Home/Ground.

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

You'll get a tracking number BUT don't expect too much! My SmartPost tracking numbers seem to always
connect to this message:

You can try emailing service@woot.com with your order number, but there's no guarantee they'll be able to process the request before your order ships.

Actually, I just figured out this whole *smart* post thing. I though it referred to being intelligent or quick witted. Then I looked the word up and realized that it had more to do with the first six meanings and certainly not #7...

I got the package not long ago and am auditioning it right now with some of my best pieces in my collection. Preliminary auditioning has it that the foam pieces cause the sound to be extremely muddy, so it is best to remove them.

Edit: Here are my findings from the auditioning I did, as promised:
1. Low frequencies were clipped off (this claim needs scrutiny).
2. From the lowest volume, you can go up five levels before starting to hear some noise.
Conclusion: This set is great for casual listening.

I'll see if I can get my hands on a signal generator to do even more testing (like an EE) :D

This makes no sense? Mine is in Wisconsin which means it went two states too far (im in Missouri) Where's the feet? where is it?

Only 2 states? I once ordered some mp3 players from woot that went from Dallas TX to Orlando Florida, back to Dallas TX before going to San Antonio TX. So 2 states isn't that bad.

And for mr. "Hmm not worth the money" Why is it not worth the money?

Mine say estimated delivery day of the 7th, but they are are already at my local post office...must wait until Monday...sigh.

My WOOT got to Orlando Friday evening (11-02) and UPS will deliver to me the next workday morn if my package
gets to Orlando the evening before. BUT Fedex still has this package. I wonder which PO they give to, Orlando or Ocala?
Part of the joy of WOOTing!

I got mine on Saturday (Had to pay tax, but living in Houston means lightning fast woot deliveries). I let them charge all day Saturday (even though the charging light indicated full charge in 4 hours), and tried them today.

My motorola Razr matched up with the headphones right away. Read the instructions. The passcode will be 0000. Made a few outgoing calls and was impressed with the sound quality and comfort.

With my Zune, music quality is definitely passable. I wold say the earbuds are on par with most every set of earbuds that come packed in with MP3 players.

I plan on using mine when I run on the treadmill or do my weight training. I'll leave my zune docked on the Home A/V zune station. Wearing the lanyard with these headphones should be more comfortable than wearing the zune on my arm with an armband.

After matching both my zune and my Razr, I tried receiving a call while listening to music. After a few rings on the phone, the music went off and I heard the ringtone via the headphones. I was able to answer the call via the headphones, but I couldn't hear from either side of the conversation. (I was calling myself from my home phone). Maybe I just need more practice with this. If I held down the "play" button for a few seconds, It would put the existing call on hold (the one I couldn't hear from) and dial the most recently dialed number. THEN the audio worked in that call. After disconnecting from THAT call, the first, incoming call now worked for full audio. This is strange, I know, but it was repeatable.

So, my first impressions. Outgoing calls, no problem. Incoming calls with a Razr, didn't seem to work too good. Working with MP3 device, fantastic and decent sound quality.

I'm glad I spent the money on this gizmo. Hopefully I'll be able to work out the kinks with incoming calls, but I really didn't buy it to use with my phone. I wanted it for treadmill, weights, and stationary bike use.

Same here, can't get it to work with the mini. The one that works, that is. I bought two and on one of them the LED doesn't work and pressing the button sequence doesn't cause it to function.

Is this typical for smartpost?

I guess so, this is Federal Express Ground and the Local post office, AKA snail mail. Who do you think puts the snail in snail mail? USPS

This thing doesn't even work correctly, I can only answer my phone if I am connected to the phone while listening to my music. I can't answer my phone when I am connected somewhere else like my computer. Still a good buy though, let me know if someone can figure this out.

joekporter56 wrote:How's the sound quality?

Using a2dp in leopard the sound quality is OK. Using the headset profile is very much like being on a telephone phone call with some one and listening to their television through the phone (this is how it will sound if you are using 10.4 or earlier).

To get it to work with Skype it was a matter of pairing with the mac, then setting it up to use the headset profile. I had some weirdness with the combining the two profiles on the same machine because both audio outputs show as VOX 340, one is headset profile the other a2dp. If you select the a2dp as output with the input as the headset profile it kills the headset audio and for me actually changed the audio output to the internal speakers on the macbook.

To pair it you just turn the unit off by holding the front button with the circle until the led turns red. Let go I waited a second the press both buttons for a few seconds then the led came on and cycled from red to green.

Right now I'm fighting with keeping the thing charged, it seems to be very temperamental with the charger I've been digging for the instruction manual on why I'm having so much trouble getting the thing to charge properly. I'm on day #3 of trying at the point but today i have it right beside me to keep an eye on t he statu sleds.

I'll give them another day or so..but seriously I'm only like 350 miles away from where the item ships...
