Wrong! Why is it that some people insist that just because a transmission is digital, that there can never be a loss of signal quality? This is just not true!

In for two.

This is actually a very good price for an A2DP headset, let alone one that comes with an A2DP transmitter too! I plan on cutting off the ear buds themselves, soldering on different headphones and mounting them in my motorcycle helmet. This way, I can connect to the phone and either the radar detector or the mp3 player without wires coming from the helmet (letting me take it off without getting tangled). The lump attached to the headset should mount somewhere allowing me to take calls.

For those interested, you'd probably be able to take off the headphones and wire up a 3.5mm jack, effectively creating a digital stereo music transmitter.

Oh, and to whoever said digital is perfect, just because it's digital doesn't mean there's no compression. MP3s are digital too, but aren't full quality. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Protocol) is pretty heavily compressed; most likely similar to a 64-96kbps MP3 file. Can't imagine I'll care on the R1.

Finally, about the Walmart thing, as recently as May, it was good news that they were on sale for $60. I have a feeling that they're out of stock everywhere - they're certainly not available online.

Woot!

Does anyone know if this would work with my macbook pro?

if not, this would still make it easier to work in the dark room without a cord coming from my ipod

Well I have looked at most of the reviews on this, and it gets very good reviews. If you prefer not to use the provided earbuds, there is a possibility your bluetooth headset will pair with the transmitter. Some people have had luck with this according to their posts. It is a 2 piece set.. The transmitter attaches to the MP3 player and the earbuds and receiver are one piece.. what Philips refers to as pendant style. You hit a button to switch between your MP3 player and bluetooth enabled cellphone. It's pretty simple and seems to work quite well. I'm sure it doesn't sound quite as nice as a $200 setup from some other companies (but realize when this came out, retail was comparable to most of the other solutions $130 range). I'm in for 3!

Wow, it's not really that complicated...

First, the little black box is a Bluetooth transmitter for your audio device, not your phone. It sends music via BT to the headphones. Those same headphones also act like a hands-free BT earpiece for your phone. You're listening to tunes, out for a nice fall stroll, your phone rings, beep, you're connected. No switching earpieces or holding your phone to your ear.

I'm down for 2, the girlfriend will enjoy them as well.

It looks like this is an item that some Wal-marts have carried at some point, so it is listed on the website. However, you'd really have to call around to try to find the item. I bet that this is sort of a rare item for Wal-mart.

Ok dorks. Answer this! Isn't Bluetooth technology supposed to be wireless? Why am I seeing wires in this thing?

Let me get this straight, So you would walk around with an MP3 player, a phone. a transmitter, a receiver, and still.... WIRERESS!!!!

MP3 player, $100.
Phone, $100
Another way to charge your credit card, BRAINLESS.

I once purchased some Philips earbuds that looked not unlike these...I hated them because they wouldn't stay in my ear and when they did they lacked any real bass. Now I'm used to the several pairs of Shure in-ear phones I have and likely would be unsatisfied with these sound quality wise. If you needed the transmitter though it's still a good buy even if you don't use the phones/receiver dongle.

As another poster mentioned, it would be simple enough to ad a stereo jack to use your own earbuds, you would lose the combo earbud/lanyard feature, (if you consider that a feature.)

Have you ever tried to sort out the fine wires used in thin cabling like on earphones/buds? Even if it was just stereo it would be something for someone with fair soldering experience. Add the mic with it's wires and it could be a no go for most of us who would even like to try! I'm sure many of you could add the needed jack so any phones could be used, but I'm sure I'd mess it up trying. I'll pass...But, again, if you need a transmitter I've seen those alone going for from 19 to 59 bucks.

Hmm... I've been looking for something like this for a long time. I'm in a band and wireless in ear monitors are super expensive ($200+). I was thinking this might work as a sort of poor man's monitoring system.

So theoretically I could have my source audio that i want to be sent to a singer's ears that comes from a 3.5mm jack... I could use the included transmitter to plug into the jack and then the singer could have the headset and listen to his mix wirelessly. Is my thinking correct there? What would the range be like? Isn't Bluetooth (1.1?) like 10 feet or something and some other bluetooth (2.1?) like 100 feet?

This would be awesome if i could get these for everyone in the band.

for crying out loud people, its not hard to figure out.
it is:
a stereo bluetooth transmitter that will plug into any headphone jack,

combined with a bluetooth reciever (with a pair of no doubt crappy earbuds that can be hacked off and a headphone jack soldered on) which can switch between your phone, and the previously mentioned transmitter.

if you want an easy and cheap way to seperate your audio producing device from your person without wires, this is just the device for the job.

As for whoever said it'd be too hard to solder... nah. the small wires just mean you have to strip it carefully. the actual soldering shouldn't be too hard.

Strange prices are not unusual to see on Amazon. Look again at this product at Amazon. It actually isn't Amazon that is selling it. It is some place called "Ace Photo" that just has it listed on Amazon's site. I have seen two identical products, both listed on Amazon, but from different sellers and at very different prices.

It appears, to me at least, the mic is on the bluetooth receiver piece, and not wired up through the headphones. Wiring you own headphones, or a 3.5mm jack, should not be much of an issue. You may loose the lanyard, but if you are creative enough you can get around that too.

I'm in for 3 just to see what I can come up with :-) One for late night tv listening.. one to wire up into my car stereo (ie any ipodmp3 player bluetoothed to aux in on the headunit),... one for commuting (keep the ipod stowed away in the bag) etc..

hopefully they dont sound like poo :-P

ummm... yes it does that. you can chose not to use the transmitter if your device already has bluetooth. or you can use another bluetooth headset with the included transmitter. It's just that your device or headset needs to support 'handset profile' and/or 'handsfree profile'. And they probably do.

As a matter of fact you might also want to use the transmitter even with a bluetooth device because it supports bluetooth stereo (A2DP), which means dual headphones.
