I'm in for 3 just to see what I can come up with :-) One for late night tv listening.. one to wire up into my car stereo (ie any ipodmp3 player bluetoothed to aux in on the headunit),... one for commuting (keep the ipod stowed away in the bag) etc..

hopefully they dont sound like poo :-P

The microphone and headset are all part of one piece that loops around your neck. You wouldn't be able to separate the ear buds from the mic without some creative work. The extra little box is to convert a non bluetooth device into a bluetooth device. It works on ANY device that has a headphones jack. I've owned this headset for over a year now and really like it, but I paid over $100 for it when it first came out . I'm getting me 2 more!

Excuse my xbox ignorance....If your xbox will connect with bluetooth headphones, it will work. If your xbox has a headphones jack, it will work.

ARE YOU STUPID? iT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WIRELESS DONGLE. YOU PAID OVER $100 CAUSE OF THE WIRELESS DONGLE. WALMART SELLS THIS WITHOUT THE WIRELESS DONGLE FOR UNDER $20. THIS IS NO BARGAIN

Let me get this straight, So you would walk around with an MP3 player, a phone. a transmitter, a receiver, and still.... WIRERESS!!!!

MP3 player, $100.
Phone, $100
Another way to charge your credit card, BRAINLESS.

The wires are only on the headset and microphone. The ear beds are permanently connected to a lanyard like thing that hangs around your neck (so you wouldn't lose it when you pull the ear buds out of your ears). No wired connection to your phone or bluetooth device at all.

I guess I am because I don't see in the description that it doesn't include the wireless dongle. At any rate, I never use the dongle. For me it's just fine. $20 is still more than $12.99 plus shipping.

Maybe you should wait to confirm your belief before you start calling people stupid.

If you check the link to the phillips website store, they clearly include the adaptor but do not mention it the description.

People have commented on the Walmart link, because its not mentioned in the description either, but i didnt see any post where any one has been able to purchase it from walmart online to verify.

Perhaps its not included, but i would think it would be extremely shady for woot to put it in the picture, and expanded picture, without including it.

Thanks for the info! Looks like i will have to get a little more creative.

I may lose the mic entirely then, as I'm not sure I'll even use it with my cellphone.

I already picked one up because I can use it in so many ways without the dongle (PS3/Laptop/Phone) and it's just $12.99, but if anyone finds out either of these questions definitively, I would really appreciate it.

1) Is it going to come with the dongle (I already read every post and know about the speculative answers but if anyone knows definitively through emailing woot or otherwise I would like to know)

2) Where is the mic located? Is it close enough for the caller to hear you? is it on the strap?

Thanks!

Actually, you don't have to plug the headset into the phone at all. The headphones already have a bluetooth receiver. The transmitter can be plugged into anything with a headphone jack. If your phone isn't bluetooth but has a headphone jack, then you can make it bluetooth, or you can plug the transmitter into an mp3 player as it is meant to be used, enabling you to have one set of headphones connected to your phone and an mp3 player by bluetooth.

According to the specs listed on PDF file from Philips:

Bluetooth 3,5mm adapter incl.
You plug the Bluetooth 3,5mm adapter into the 3,5mm
jack that is often used for connecting headphones. The
audio adapter picks up the audio signal at the 3,5mm
Audio out of your music player and converts it into a
wireless Bluetooth signal that can be received by your
Bluetooth Headphones.

I did not call anyone stupid. I asked if you were stupid. I gurantee Woot will say , if there is a conflict, you have to rely on the desription not the pic. Also, the size and weight listed corresponds to headset ONLY. You will see. on the pdf file it says shipping size is (in inches) 8.4x6.25x2.7 which is much bigger then the dimensions listed by woot

woot has been doing very well in the "timely items" department lately.. it seems that no sooner do I say "sure wish i had a few extra leakfrog's" then POW! There's a leakfrog on the site.. and my collection of Professional Gaming Headsets is second to none!
In this case, I was thinking just yesterday that something like this might go well with the crackberry curve 8310 (R2D2... er... A2DP compliant) that my employer ordered for me... which is scheduled to arrive this very morning. A 3.5mm jack mod for the receiver is definitely in order.. I've gotta believe a pair of Razer pro-tones will be an improvement... if not for sound quality, at least for comfort.

I'm in for two.. it's only money... and not very much money at that.

1) After re-reading Woot's description, it does not come with the dongle. No worries as under $20 for a pair of bluetooth headphones are still a good price.

2) Mic is located on the bluetooth receiver at the end of the ear buds. Yes it's on the strap.

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/v/vox340_17/vox340_17_pss_aen.pdf

This links to a Philips page showing the features. It is a full featured BT Stereo headset which just happens to include the adapter transceiver. This means it will provide full BT support on BT A2DP devices (including your iPhone (standard BT only) and your newer Mac. You did know your new Mac had BT built in right? No? *sigh*)

-OR- you plug in the adapter to any standard earphone jack and you'll have partial functionality without BT support.

Also, if your phone is BT but not A2DP, it will still work, but again with limited functionality.

Unless Woot! got the picture AND the model number wrong, this should include the adapter. I don't know what the deal is with WalMart's site, but the model number ending in 17 means it does include the adapter. If it doesn't include the adapter then Woot! has really screwed up this time! This is not a matter of two colors available. I love our deals, but if they're staff doesn't include someone who can digitally erase accessories that are not included, then they had damn well better make it clear in the description.

However, I do agree that something is wrong, since the pic and model number show the dongle, but the description fails to mention it.

Well, Woot!, which is it????

For folks reading this forum trying to understand how today's woot item actually works this post may help.

You plug the square box ( a blue tooth dongle) into your MP3 (any brand, iPod, Creative, etc) or for that matter into anything with a stereo headphone (CD player, radio, walkman, computer, etc). Then you mate you bluetooth-enabled phone with the round dangle permanently attached to the headphones. The headphone should them allow you to listen to your music and make a ringing sound in your headphones announcing you have an incoming call (just like any bluetooth headset or handsfree device). Then you can press a button to answer the phone call and the music will be automatically muted (not paused) while you chat. There are buttons to do this as well as redial a call, etc.

In terms of portability (for running etc) you wear the headset on your head and put phone and the MP3 or portable CD player(with dongle attached) in your pockets or purse of what have you.

Here are the specs from the Philips website (where it sells for $59 for one):

Okay, the Walmart issue is moot. Searching the site directly give no results for these and if you follow the link from Google you'll see that you can't get it from them at all. Here is the availability from the page:

Availability: *
• Online - IN STOCK COMING SOON PREORDERS SOLD OUT OUT OF STOCK OUT OF STOCK NOT SOLD ONLINE

The comments in italic where in hidden text. So you CANNOT get anything from Walmart for $20 related to this item. The only sites I found selling it are charging $64.77 up to $130.

Geez people, if you hate Woot! so much, don't shop here. Instead of telling other people how to shop when you don't even know what you are talking about.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Research from the Netherlands and other areas suggests that using a cell phone regularly over a 10 year period, increases your chances of brain, ear, ear nerve cancer.
A Newer update published this month suggests it could be worse for children using cell phones (thinner skulls).

True or false (who the hell knows)?

But to me it sounds much safer to use wired headsets when using a cell phone instead of putting the phone against your ear. --

Bluetooth headsets puts a BT transmitter (different waveforms from a cell) into your ear even closer against your skull. And althought BT has NOT been shown yet to do anything harmful... who knows!

The bottom line is that even if you DONT use MP3 and phones at the same time, if you want to use a wired headset with a phone with Bluetooth only (i.e. no phone jack on phone like the original RAZR) you could buy this woot and solve that problem.

For $17 including shipping, is way cheaper than switching to another phone and possibly safer for you or your kids.

I've always hated those folks with their headsets talking loudly in airports and other places... but I may just become one now.

I was going by the Philips product sheet I linked to. It shows a model number without the 17 on the top of the page and reviews the details of the headset. On the second page it includes the 17 in a box and refers to the item including the adapter. If I am misreading it then I think my error would be that they even sell these without the headset.

Hell, I could be wrong, but at least I am not insulting other members for even thinking of buying these like some folk are doing today (not referring to you neohemp.) And I do agree that Woot! is not very clear on the main page, which is why I am waiting for someone from Woot! to show up at the office and answer this question for certain. Until then, maybe people who don't think the $12.99 BT earbuds is a good enough deal should just wait and check back later.

I'm just waiting for the other half to wake up and see if he wants them for his phone, otherwise I'd have already ordered a pair. I'm happy with the Kyocera's I bought here a while back, so don't need a pair myself. Although at this price, the buds do look more comfortable.....

And finally, cuz really I didn't mean to get this involved on a product I don't own, YOU DO NOT NEED ANY ADAPTER TO USE WITH THE iPHONE! THE iPHONE IS BT COMPATIBLE! BUT, it is not A2DP, so it will only function as a mono bt headset on the iphone, so you will need an adapter to hear stereo. Actually, two adapters, one to gain entry into the iPhones headset jack and the other for the A2DP stereo sound. Unless one of the models mentioned earlier allows for the iPhones recessed jack, which, in my opinion, is the single most annoying "feature" I've seen on anything in years. (BTW, I do own an iPhone.)
