First Post, long time wooter (first woot purchase in 2005). Honestly this isn't cool dropping the price and adding bonus items in under 30 days without taking care of loyal buyers.

Folks are normally cool with price drops with months in between....but this Zune business has been down right crazy. And woot is just about the ONLY place that buyers don't get taken care of when the SAME STORE drops the prices this quickly.

gawd, steve jobs has spoiled you all! stop your whining. if it was worth $99 on a given day, you don't get to complain when they drop the price later.

however, for my 2 cents - bought the brown zune when it was $99 and very happy with it. I *love* my iPod, but it sucks for video (the old 5.5g version). The new Zune will do wonders for pacifying the young'ns during those long trips to the distant family over the holidays.

got a black 1 first time around - horrible
software to manage music sucks - very confusing
player freezes up - randomly audio cuts out but track appears to be playing and then will randomly come back
very disappointed M$ucks once again!

so its been less than 30 days? if so i see your gripe, if its been more than 30 days, you people need to chill out, no store gives more than 30 days price protection, many give 14 only.

the only thing lame about this sale is that you have to buy two in order to get the value pack, i dont know if thats helping their sales or hurting them, i am leaning towards hurting.

when do the new zunes get released? 14 november is in my head for some reason. i've been encoding video like mad waiting for the firmware update that allows the zune30 to play mp4 videos that will be rolled out with the release of the new zune models

Exactly. And Grocery stores and Car dealers don't do it. Incredible how people are about this stuff. Pretty much everything goes on sale eventually, so get over it.

while some lovin' for those who bought earlier would be nice, I'm not holding my breath. Mine took a couple of extra weeks to get here due to some shipping problems, but when it got here, I was very impressed. I'm not convinced off of these are actual refurbs, but might instead be new units MS wants off the shelves to drive sales of the new versions.

I mean, mine was absolutely perfect - not a scratch or fingerprint on it, and it looked factory sealed.

btw - the sellout deal is going for about $50 across them thar Interwebs thing. Snatch it while you can.

Check out some of the imports from dealextreme...

Most of these, as of last year, are using the same chipsets. Depending on what pins the mfg decides to connect hey can get usb , hard disk, memoy .. etc etc etc. but basically they all have the same limtation in features dependant on the chipset.

There are only about three or two chipsets that are used in everytihng from Zune to Ipods. The technical specs therefore are also very nearly identical..

The only major differences are color, the molding of the plastic case (in some but not all cases) , and that's about it.

When these things are made in China... the plans for the device goes in the front door when it's designed in America, and goes out the back door when it gets to the plant. then it goes a mile down the road to another plant and the same kind of product is made with the same basic plans... minus American taxes, minus marketing fees, minus legal and lawyer fees, minus worker (in usa) compensation and health care, minus OSHA rules costs (in the USA) .. so you get basically the same product for 1/4 the price.

By the way, why do you think gold is so high right now ? The US Dollar has lost nearly 1/2 of its buying power compared to the Euro since the Euro came out in 2001 (about) Remember when it was 2 Euro to 1 dollar ? It's now 2 dollars to 1 Euro (about).

Save your money... buying now is a fools game.. invest. At least invest in yourself. If you're going to buy something.. take it apart , learn how it works, and get an education and a better job. Forget about buying MSoft crap.

The business plan of Woot! is different from almost every other store. Offering a single item for a limited time boosts sales, and at the same time, Buyer's Remorse. You're supposed to be aware of this fact before Wooting. Caveat Emptor, and what not.

Woot! has no obligation to refund anything because you jumped the gun. It's not cruel on their part, nor does it disrespect their customers. It's just their business model.

what are those great codec supports you mention? xvid? divx? if so i would get one of these maybe.
