Ah gotcha, so really you are asking a different question than it sounded.

Woot tends to offer refurbs more than they offer new items (well at least historically) and they keep prices down in part by doing this. When they've got the ability to offer new items they usually do.

Yeah, I sold my iPods and now have a Sansa and a Zune. Much happier with them too. If nothing else, you can count on your iPod's battery dieing on you. But usually it's wonderful scrollwheel or the interface will freeze or stick or stop working at some point, which can get days to get working again. And that's with new iPods. I can't imagine the nightmare of a refurb (rox0rz!).

Sorry, I should have been more clear- I love WOOT. Have bought refurbed and been satisfied. My question is how many times can I be offered the same item cheaper and cheaper...etc....

Just really, should I buy or hold out for it to come back later at a cheaper price?

They still do ok on ebay. If it drops more just buy again and sell the one you have now... Honestly, I would say this is the time to buy though. There's a possibility the price will rise once firmware 2.0 comes out. Suddenly they'll have more functionality and with a simply FW flash you'll be able to add considerable resale value to your Zune. That's my take on it at least.

Considering the new FW comes on the 13th, i'd say buy em while you can at this price. They may drop more or they may spike back up as interest peaks in the new product.

Sorry, I don't touch myself in public. I'm glad MS has a little public decency with their Zunes. iPod touches were made for the portiporn industry lulz.

Gotta love the whole "buy or not buy" investment thing. The eBay transaction made money back when, but now with the fees and paypal fees, it is almost not worth the time.

I am however, in for 3 of these. They will make great Christmas gifts if nothing else, right??????????

RIGHT??????????????????????

Yes, but i do have a recommendation. If giving as a gift, try them out ASAP once you get them to make sure they work. If scratched up, just sell em as refurbs. If they look good but broken, send them to MS for repair immediately so you get em back in time for XMAS.

This just being from the perspective that you generally want to make sure you're giving someone something working out of the box (instead of making them RMA as soon as they get it).

Meh, people said the same thing with the 8800GT's and prices have skyrocketed on those. They also said likewize initially before the xbox360 launch and those exploded pricewize. It's playing a game. They may drop in price or they may increase in response to the new FW update and the new Zune release. I'd say it's about 50/50 at this point.

well if they were discontinuing them then i would see a price drop, but since they are staying on and at $200 retail, i dont see the price going down anymore. if anything going up makes sense.

That's typically the case, but it's always possible for bad eggs to get through. Maybe the inspector is in a rush to get out on a friday or whatnot. There was at least one person who bought off sellout.woot.com and had a scratched up refurb (rox0rz!).

In terms of replacing the stuff, it can also be subjective to who inspects it. Another good reason to open promptly and give MS hell if you receive a scratched up refurb (rox0rz!). GP though.

Would make sense they replace simply the case (scratched) and repaired the software if needbe. This still would save full replacement, right?

Well it depends on packaging I think. If they change the packaging with the new release on new Zune 30gb's, it's 50/50. They may take the old ones toss them in new boxes and flash FW or they may just clearance old models down to get rid of them. If that's the case, it's a matter of playing the game for finding the lowest price while v1 Zunes are still available. That's why i say 50/50

You can buy as many as you want, but you're limited to 3 per account. And you've gotta use different CC's and email I think for each account. I do that for Bandolier of Carrots's although it's never actually helped me when I've tried.

I seriously bought 3 black zunes when they were $100 for gifts, and then 2 more when they went for $100 and offered white, too.

Essentially, this deal is $70 cheaper + two travel packs.

Woot, won't you be kind to us who have purchased only a few weeks ago at $100? Please?

Looks like a great deal to me, I am not an expert but here is what i have found:

Ebay Cost:
MICROSOFT 1089 ZUNE 30GB (Refurbished) = 156.00
ZUNE TRAVEL PACK = 99.00
BELKIN F8M027 TUNE POWER = 60.00

Woot Cost: 115.00

Add another $85 to that... Unless I fell on my head, it says that you have to buy 2 or more Zunes to get the Travel Pack...

I wish I could buy another Zune and get credit for my last one (Poo-Zune) to get the travel pack... *le sigh*

Let's all admit our stupidity! Maybe thats what the "Powers that Be" want. To see how far we can be pushed. I bought one refurbed Black one then two Brown ones for Christmas presents the following week! Why can't I get a cool free kit considering all the ones I bought? I feel slighted, but I guess I need to get use to this if I'm going to buy from woot! Thought I was suppose to be saving money buying from woot? Shame on ME! Shame on us ALL!
Merry Christmas too!

ive been cheated!!! woot are liars! i could've got a white/black for $5 more and a travel kit!! oh come on, cry babies, good deals come and go...whether its $20 or $5 saved, these deals are better than paying full retail. would you rather save the extra money or have already put in weeks since getting a zune already...its a fair trade off in my opinion.

travel kit- who cares, that thing isnt worth $99, i would ever pay that much, i;d only want the remote anyways

black/white vs brown...color does not matter! put a case/skin over it otherwise show off your non protected scratched/beaten up zune. but at least they know what color it is!!

i'd love to buy more zunes as presents for this price, but i'm not sure all family members would use it. they'd probably prefer something more practical, since not all are techinically savy. so far settled for a brown zune weeks ago and got in a couple sansas last week...on a purchase break for now until the next woot off or black friday

MsFlibbles

quality posts: 0 Private Messages MsFlibbles

I have purchased 3 Zunes so far. A white one when it was 149.00 (got a $10.00 coupon), then a black one for 99.99 when they had the VIP sale, then a brown one for 99.00 (got the $20.00 coupon on that one, still haven't used it). I would purchase another black one, for hubby, only if I was able to get the travel pack. I really don't need to purchase two more of these. No one else needs one.
So, how about it Woot. Give us multiple Zune buyers credit for at least one Zune so if we purchase another Zune today we can still get the travel pack. Its not like some of us are asking for you to send us the travel pack alone. Some of us are willing to purchase another Zune, just not two of them today.

My Poo-Zune died the first day I got it and I'm still staying optimistic... I don't expect it back for another 5 days, and yet I would STILL buy another one if I could get that damn travel pack...

The good news is that it doesn't ship via SnailPost... People probably wouldn't get them in time for Christmas... :P
