Why do you say that? I wouldn't throw $20 worth of stuff away. I just don't want my two year old getting lead poisoning. I figured it doesn't hurt to ask if anyone knows anything about these trains.

Fenfa is an international manufacturer/exporter based in asia, but that doesn't mean their products are necessarily safe or unsafe. Use your own judgment. Caveat emptor. A $5 battery operated train isn't built to last.

No, you wouldn't. neither would all those people ordering them for their two year old kids, or thir pets. At some point you have to either think "This is just wrong" or stop pretending you have a conscience. That applies to America as a whole as well as the individual consumers.

I believe they are based in Hong Kong. I would say that you probably wouldn't want him/her to play with them anyway. I figure they are probably going to break easily and you definitely don't want any small parts around a 2 year old.

Small cheap plastic parts, possible choking hazard. Probably made in China, given the wording on the box on the Amazon.com page "Simulating the True Styles and Making Carefully". What do you expect for $4? Quality, non-sweatshop produced, safe toys?

Hey gang..this is my first woot! Too much fun! Also, I am totally ignorant about kids and what age is appropriate for what toys. I have a 3.5 year old nephew and a 2 year old nephew. Do you think these train sets will be ok for them? Maybe for the 3.5 year old neppy at least?

I bought three with the intention of giving at least one to them for XMas. The others will probably go to toys-for-tots. Or I'll set one up to amuse the cats, filling the cars with tuna chunks and posting the resulting chaos to YouTube.

yes because watching cats die due to possible lead poisoning is fun.

give them to the kids (with parental supervision) No need having them suck on the train and also getting lead poisoning (if that is the case.... we aren't really sure)

Does my Zune have lead in it? Should I not carry it around in my mouth when my hands are full of cleaning supplies?

Not buying alone doesn't help them measurably, but it also doesn't contribute to their exploitation, and it keeps them away from the kids in your family. Not buying them and insisting that toys be made safely will eventually help them by improving their environment, if nothing else.

You didn't answer her question, isn't this forum's main purpose to provide people with information? I'm sure she's outside right now cutting the trees down... so maybe it was useful! I think there should be a forum rule that if people ask real questions, they get real answers... people who are quick to hit the reply button because an electrical impulse hit their brains shouldn't respond.

Worst case senario, melt the lead down, and make your own lead ball bullets. At least then the $5 toy can be used for something worthwhile.

you do know that "lead" in pencils is not lead. it is carbon in the form of graphite. lead should not be everywhere, when I lived in Boston all children had to be tested for lead from the paint every 6 months, also why do you think that gasoline is now unleaded. so lead is a big deal. but is not a real concern in toys.

Uh, I can appreciate the sentiment, but really...how long have you been reading this stuff? Done any reading of past days' posts? Did you happen to notice the forums beginning at midnight Thursday morning through this time yesterday?
