So after looking through, I see that the brushes and filters aren't cheap to replace. I'm not sure how quickly they wear though. I was hoping the filters would be washable. I guess not.

Don't forget. There's more to a cleaning product like a vacuum than the upfront cost. There's always supplies.

Filters are washable. Ive been using the same one that it came with and I wash it with warm water every so often.

I've owned Roombas since they first came out years ago. iRobot provides excellent customer support as I've had to repair and replace units under warranty.

The product works - in our house with 6 people, 4 cats, and 2 dogs it helps keep the hair and dirt under control on hard floors and carpet. The animals don't bother it when it's on. Little children can press the buttons and turn it off if they mess with it while it's running. But it shouldn't hurt them - the Roomba moves away from objects and will stop when any button is pressed or when it is lifted off the floor.

Well, I can only say that the scheduler worked with mine. It was the Sage 4110.

* I should clarify that the remote features worked, clean, direction, and dock (good if you get tired of hearing roomba work) but I did not actually schedule a cleaning. I assume it would work though because all of the other functions did.*

I have 3 Roombas, different model though. Mine didn't come with a scheduler. Does anyone know if one scheduler will work on all 3 or do I need to purchase one for each?

I have not seen scooba on woot yet. I hate my tile...I am so sick of mopping it...or at least I was until I quit mopping it. Now I just roomba it and don't look too close. Yes, I need a scooba.
Tomorrow, they'll have scooba after we spent our moola on roomba.

I bought one of these refurbed units last time they came around for sale on WOOT! at $129.99. It was abused heavily in transit and I had to replace some parts before even attempting to use it. Then, after charging for as long as recommended before first use, the thing plays a dirge when I try to activate it and flashes red error lights. iRobot customer support told me to clean the brushes and charge it again...seriously?!?! I still have not been able to get it to work and iRobot does not seem to want to issue me an RMA. Be careful.

Well, after doing a scant bit of research on Roomba web page, I got one. I couldn't find the exact model number on their clearence, but the closest one - a scheduler that looked the same - was just under $200! Here's to hopeing a good decision was made...

Will this unit stop at throw rugs or will it do them also? I have lots of tile in the room I want to use it in with a number of throw rugs.

I use a can of compressed air on mine every couple of runs and they seem to remain in good shape. I'm sure it doesn't get everything out, but hey, as long as I have the illusion of cleanliness, I'm happy.

As long as there arnt any tassels on them and they arnt too much of a difference of height, it will work.

You should get an email confirmation and it should appear under "your account." Failing that, go ahead and try to purchase again. We only permit one purchase per account per sale. 'Course, should anything go wrong there, please contact service@woot.com with your order number(s).

I think it will only work if they are charging you tax so if they charge tax in Arizona like they do in Texas, it may work. But the purchase has to be over a certain amount. I forget exactly how much. Something like 60 bucks or so...Maybe someone else remembers the exact amount.

Does Roomba still get hung up on carpet fringe and shoe laces? My old one has a little spinning brush that catches strings and winds them up until it is forced to shut down.

Also Roomba has a number of tiny dust pans that need to be cleaned. Ever wonder where all that dirt goes.

If Roomba sucks up something it cannot handle it is a real pain to disassemble and fix.

Roomba takes a long time to clean a room and requires you to move allot of furniture out of it's way.

But roomba is enthusiastic, and will not require welfare benefits for it's anchor babies. Roomba will not report the location of your valuables to it's MS13 boy friend.

(Overall signature size was getting large. Recommended signature size is 5k.)

I assume that the child will not be swallowed by the Roomba, and I also assume that the child will not reprograme the Roomba the turn on Dora or open forbidden drawers. But other than that, anyone care to share their experiances?

My 15 month old LOVES the Roomba. She quickly figured out how to turn it on. And off. And on. You get the picture. She is too heavy to manage it but would sit on the thing if she could while it rides around. So far she has not managed to damage it. We "hide" it in a room she can't get to when it's charging so she doesn't beat on it too much. It bashes in to her all the time and doesn't hurt her at all. Good luck!

My house has tile in the kitchen, low-pile carpet and is about 1400 sqft. Would this thing do the whole house including under the beds and in the kitchen or does it only do 1 room? How does it handle chairs on the floor in the kitchen?

Rugs could be a problem. Especially if they have fringe. It depends on the thickness of the rug I would expect. It does mine fine (they are cheap thin rugs) but I have one that has the fringe on it and that is definitely a problem so I just roll it up when I do the hall.

IT will keep going till it decides it need to get back to its home to charge. Im not sure the sqft of my first floor, but it does the entire thing without a problem.

Depending on how wide the legs are it will go under and bounce around for a bit before finding its way back out and going on its journey

I think it would need to recharge before it would finish the whole house. I close off my rooms and just do the kitchen, hall and living area on one charge. When I want to use it in the other rooms I do them seperately but I can do both bedrooms on one charge. I think this place is 1100 sq ft.

tlspangler

quality posts: 0 Private Messages tlspangler

WOW, $99 bucks is a steal. I think I paid $149 for the Discovery version on woot many months back. On to the Roomba: I had a lot of trouble with mine and had to exchange parts THREE times with the manufacuer. Eventually they completely replaced my unit as it was defective. OK onto using it, it works surprisingly well on hardwoods and tile floors. It also works well on rugs EXCEPT it often doesn't like the transitions, especially on my oriental rugs with tassels. You also need an uncluttered space for it to work well. It can catch on cords, sheets, bed covers etc if they are near the floor. BUT when it runs around the room it really picks up the dog hair and dust bunnies! Even after I vacuum with a regular vacuum and then run the Roomba I'm surprised how much additional dirt it finds. Overall it is pretty cool and had made my house cleaner.
