By the way, just what are the dimensions of these things? They look like the size of a cd player or a small frisbee.

In fact, the first time I saw a picture of one of these, I thought it was a fancy cd player.

No, bigger. Something like 16-18 inches wide....pardon me for being too lazy to hunt down the tape measure.

Alright. I did it. I popped my Roomba cherry! I've been eying these up for ages and finally bit the bullet.

Damn, my husband is so regretting the day he ever introduced me to Woot.

My dog attacks the regular vac but after a few warnings (mild) he leaves the roomba alone believe it or not. He is a big size boxer. Of course that is when I'm in the house to supervise. If he were left alone with it....well ...it would probably be toast.

This is so FANTASTIC. I'm in for 2. Not for me but for my 82 year old Dad's house. Now I will be able to go over there without puking.

Bought one of these remanufactured units for my mom. Nerly redone hardwood floors, 2 cats and a dog, I have heard no complaints.

For those with battery problems, try taking the battery out and holding the on button to completely discharge the unit. Then hook it back up and let it charge. Mine had been off the charger for some time and I think the in house computer didn't know the battery was losing juice, so assumed the battery was dead when it really was not, or something. Anyways, this makes my third roomba purchase...

My Roomba cherry has been broken.. After all the great comments, I'm going to give one a try..

I'm trying to sell my house right now and this will be much better than lugging the vacuum out every day to make it look perfect. Just gotta schedule it before showings in the morning ;)

simplyjas wrote:Thanks, so they are the same roomba's and the scheduler isn't any better except for the scheduler feature... Buy.com can be hell to cancel with, so I guess I will swallow the extra $50 and keep the Discovery. Atleast it's brand new... Besides I get the 1 year warranty with mine vs. the woot one which is 90 days.

Or you can get this one, too, and use the remote to schedule the Discovery. You may not _think_ you want to schedule, but once you try it it's the best! And you'll probably want a second Roomba sooner than you think...

If you can work a screwdriver, you can repair them easily. The electronics will run forever. New batteries, New brushes, good as new.

Hm. I've got one discovery that I wooted here. We bought a Scooba at Sam's on clearance. Freind bought a scheduler here, and gave it to us because it didn't handle the fringe on his carpet. I think that the main problem is that he used it to clean up cat crap/puke/urine....which I got to clean out of the roomba once I got it. *BARF* Free was almost too much for that one! However, after a good cleaning, and dissasembly/washing of the dust bin, it's smell AND chunk free and works fine, although it's probably emotionally scarred for life.

So now we add one more scheduler to the list. That's, um, 3 roombas and a scooba. I think I need help.

I just saw the Kohl's circular for Black Friday and they feature A Roomba (not the same model, and not with most of these accessories) for $99.99 (new, of course). It's an "early bird" special (4 a.m. - 1 p.m.).

Depending on how old it is you may have encountered the circle of death. If you contact IRobot they will be able to determine that, and if it is that, send you a chip to upgrade the roomba

This comes with an extra peice that lets you tell the roomba to clean at certain times.

May be either a stuck bumper, or a dirty wheel sensor. Check out roombareview.com for help. They've got a good forum there.

Sorry, tinyurl isn't working...

Your Roomba may have Circle Dance.

PS, when I operated on my Roomba, I didn't even have to remove the fenders, I could access the fourth screw by rotating the wheel.

Yay! Finally something I don't need, something I can live without! (Well, not really, I've got two Roombas already, don't need a third).

Stops my streak of Woot buys at five in a row. Thanks, Wootmasters!

That one's not a Scheduler. The scheduling remote costs $40. (Don't know if the Khol's one has all the other accessories or not, but someone else in the thread clarified the Scheduler part. The accessories add up to a lot, what with the replacement brushes and filters and all.)

Pulled the trigger and got my first woot. Grabbed one for Mom while I was here. 2 dalmatians = lots of little hairs. Some daily upkeep would be right up her alley.

Be careful with long/hair and shedding carpets (especially new) The fibers will quickly clog the roller brush. I recommend sweeping or carpet raking all the loose fibers first, then clean it with the Roomba.

and don't forget to clean it after EVERY use

I'd sure like to buy a few more of these, but I have hardwood floors. If these have the old fixed style castor, then they will scratch the floors. If they have the newer swivel style castor, then they won't scratch wood floors. IRobot replaced both my Red and Scheduler which originally came with the fixed castors because they were scratching my wood floors.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions regarding my Roomba's circle dance. I found my answer on roombareview.com. For those of you with the same problem it is a very simple fix. There are three different types of the circle dance. Go to roombareview.com, bottom of the page customer support will help you.

Refrubished will replace the part that isnt working and leave the rest.

Remanufactured is a complete rebuild not including the shell

At least, thats how I understand it

I'd like one of these as my dog sheds too much.. Too bad it can't climb onto the sofa and clean that too. That would be cool, add a few tentacles so it could reach out and clean other places. Then they could call it the "iRobot Cthulu".

Well, I think my dog would go nuts with it.. Blue heeler - crazy things I tell ya.
