Earphone jack is extremely flaky. I have to hold the earphone jack in and push to left in order to have the full 2 channel audio. Sounds great when I manually hold it in place, otherwise, its un-listenable.

Anyone know if SanDisk offers help with this problem or do I have to go through Woot for a refund?

Tested all three of mine, and they work very well. I walked around with them in my pocket and the phones stayed well connected. No noticeable change in sound when the units are not stationary. So far, so good.

Got our 3 today. I'm at college so I don't see them but my sister said that they were "ghetto".

My first and last woot?

I was under the assumption the refurbs were good, guess not. Oh well.

Got mine today. 3 hours hooked up to charge, and batt goes dead after 5 minutes.
Anybody have any ideas? It said 90 day warranty from Woot. Anybody ever return anything to woot? How does that work?

No, they don't. When I ordered this the product description said nothing about it being shipped smartpost.

We generally recommend contacting the manufacturer first, as they are far more likely to have a replacement or parts in stock. However, if they cannot or will not assist you, please get in touch with rma@woot.com with your order number and a detailed description of the problem. Note that a refund may be the only option.

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

Received my box today - knew it wasn't good when it arrived in a squished box overwrapped in a plastic bag from the post office. Even more disturbing was the fact that the tape wasn't fully secured and when I opened the box ... I only received ONE player, not the two I ordered :-( Totally bummed ... I'm hoping the one I received works well - I was hoping to be able to stock my daughter's and my dad's stockings with these - and that Woot can just replace the missing one rather than credit my credit card.

<wink to woot> Wouldn't mind getting a 2 gigger .... :-) <wink to woot>

Fingers crossed that service@woot can get through all this stuff before Christmas.

BTW- I LOVE Woot! I've wooted around 12 times so far this holiday season and this is the first snafu (this written as I listen to my white refurb (rox0rz!) Zune in it's Belkin case and my cloverleaf trains roll about the tree base, the cats chase the Roombas, the dog eats from a Snack daddy, and my laptop connects via it's nifty Netgear wirelss card.) Not to mention everything I wrapped for the 5 people I live with!

I did send a e-mail to rma with order # and description of the problem. I will also try Sansa if they want me too. Sure wish I could resolve this before Christmas. Im counting on you Woot. I like the product. Would really like to have it fixed.

Thanks.

Hmmm, got two boxes today. Ordered one, received 2 one gig versions. While I appreciate the bonus, neither one seems to work.

Since I use a Mac, I loaded songs on it as an external drive. No matter what I do, when I try to play songs some of them say "bad track" and it prevents me from even getting to the menu. It happens to different songs and I can load the same song twice, and once it will show up as a bad track and the next time it won't. There appears to be no rhyme or reason and I don't have any problems playing these song on any other player.

Guess I get to contact Sandisk yet again.

Got my box today less one Sansa... I ordered 3 of these and received only 2 (1gb)
Why the frown?, who packed these things???!!!

Looks like this WOOT is a total crap shoot... Some really got screwed while others got nice upgrades and free units they didnt even order!!! (congrats)

e-mailed woot, waiting for a response... I'll be real upset if I'm only offered a refund and not a replacement...These were supposed to be gifts....

Woot - Considering all the random upgrades your handing out and the hassle you've put others through... How bout sending the 2gb version...? or better yet...
Send today's 4gb E260 as replacements for those who got shorted???

I'll add it to my list for Santa. (Hope I don't end up with a lump of cole...)

I got mine today and it was the 2GB unit. While it has the refurb (rox0rz!) stamped on the back, it looks brand new. All the protective stickers are on it and there's not so much as a fingerprint or a scratch.

Go figure.

I have three 1-gig refurbs. All three appear in pristine condition. I'm afraid to give them to anyone because of all of the reports here about them crapping out after being charged. Yeah, it's a crapshoot.

For some reason I don't have access to a USB menu under settings like the guide says, so drag and drop wasn't working for me. Tried updating the fw, fw software said no fw upgrade was necessary. Tried using windows media player 10 to sync, no go. Upgraded to windows media player 11, that finally worked.

Considering the first and second were weekend days, I don't think I'd assume it's lost quite yet, especially since SmartPost isn't the most up-to-date with tracking information most of the time.

Hi Gatzby,

I'm new here and trying to remain positive, but my 3 players are still being "sortated' somewhere in Sacramento...how long can it take a bar code reader to scan a package? If only your delivery was as efficient as your billing (within hours of placing the order my Amex card was billed).

In an earlier (July?) thread by Snapster, it was stated that FedEx SmartPost was an "experiment" to try out a cheaper shipping method. From my experience (2 orders) and from reading these boards it seems that the "2 to 7 days" that FedEx promises is a joke, and you guys should be holding their feet to the fire.

Can I make a constructive suggestion? Please specify the mode of shipping for each item in the description and we can decide if the time frame is acceptable for that item. If something is a really good deal and I don't need to have it for a few weeks then SP is okay, but I'm now buying some xmas gifts and I have no confidence that what I order today will be here in time if it is shipped by Smartpost.

Thanks

In theory, practice and theory are the same.
In practice, they are not.

SanDisk tells me I have to go through woot since its within 30 days of purchase price. Hopefully woot comes through with some sort of refund. Would rather have a working player but I guess Ill have to settle for some sort of refund where Ill loose all kinds of money in S/H charges.

Thank you for contacting SanDisk Technical Support.

Since it was just purchased last November 22, 2007, we advise that you return it to the place of purchase. It is covered by the 30 day return policy.

FedEx description for SmartPost:

"About FedEx SmartPost

FedEx SmartPost offers you an efficient, value-oriented, and timely way to ship high volumes of low-weight packages to residential customers. We pick up, sort, line haul, track and deliver your packages to the post offices closest to your customers. The USPS makes the final delivery to the residence. As a result, you reduce transit time, minimize handling, and maximize postal discounts."

Looks like its good for Woot and BAD for us. Less work for Woot, cheaper for woot, and we suffer the consequences. The 2-7 day transit time is a joke. The shortest transit time I have experienced with smartpost is 9 days (and yes, I mean 9 business days). "...reduce transit time...." Are they joking? USPS Media Mail is faster than SmartPost. I actually just noticed that woot's icon for SmartPost is a snail holding the package.

If you don't like to use WMP to store mp3s to the Sandisk, you'll have to reload the drivers which redefine that player's Hardware Properties.

I sent Woot a message concerning my empty box, but have yet to receive an acknowledgment other than from the autoresponder which handles all their email on Weekends. I'm going to email them one more time, and if I don't get a response, I'm going to dispute the charge with Paypal. Between SmartPost and this snafu, I'm going to be really hesitant to buy from Woot again, especially around the holidays!

Man, I guess I got lucky. Mine came in last night and works PERFECTLY! I stuck the 2 GB microSD card from my phone in it, upgraded my Rhapsody subscription to "to go" and it's now loaded with 3GB of music! The radio gets FAR BETTER reception than I ever expected. I expected garbage, but it's far better than the (Sony) desktop radio I have at work, which was the best that I found after returning four others.

Sound quality is much better than I expected too (after playing with the EQ settings -- hint, adjust DOWN, NOT UP), especially with my $250 Sennheiser headphones. :-) Sounds as good as the sound card on my desktop PC... I've been moving the headphones back and forth and playing the same song at the same volume and I can't detect a difference.

I wish that it had gapless playback (no Rockbox for me since I want to use Rhapsody to go), but otherwise it's awesome!

Oh... and you can also sync pictures using Rhapsody. No problem here, though they're so tiny that it's pointless. No need to download the media converter from Sandisk though.

I hope that's not the response I get. I ordered a MP3 player, got a box w/an air pillow and nothing else, while others got upgraded units/muliple "free" units, and they offer just a friggin refund??? I'd be escalating this in a hurry to Woot upper management!

Agreed... It seems very wrong to me that some would get nothing while others get free units / upgrades... I hope Woot figures this out and makes it right...

If they're out of the C240's then upgrade us to another Sansa model like you did for others randomly anyway...
I see yesterdays E260's didn't sell out... Send us the left overs, or another Sansa model, or offer a discount toward another mp3 player etc...

I dont want a friggin' refund since someone else got mine for free!!!

I hope the people at Woot actually think about how screwed up this is...
I'll continue to wait for a response.....
