I got the same email today. And when I got home, there was my 2nd 1GB SanDisk at my door. I got my first one about a week ago.

Interesting thing to me is the first arrived in a WOOT branded box, the second unit came in a plain brown box. I wonder if they have mutiple shipping centers now?

I think your service department needs to get up to speed. It appears they have enough time to e-mail everyone who got more then they were suppose to. How about e-mailing the people that didn't get anything at all. Let me know if this is going to get resolved.

Yeah - I'm happy for the people who received "upgrades/more than they ordered" - What really pisszzes me off is Woot has time to send that email out - but cannot respond to people who did not receive anything or like me everything but the player itself.. This is really getting to be a joke and a bad one at that - I just want my player -not a refund - I purchased this less than 5 minutes after it went up - Nice of Woot to hide behind their email - No numbers to call - And no satisfaction whatsoever for people who got screwed.... Mine says "refurb (rox0rz!)" in big letters on the back and the volume up button doesn't work at all. It says 2.0 GB on the back of it, and the system settings say it does in fact have about 2 GB of space available. Voice recorder really only works if you're speaking directly into it. FM tuner kind of sounds like crap. Over all I guess I can't be disappointed.

HERE HERE!!!! It INFURIATES me that they sent emails to people who received MORE than they were supposed to and it has been almost a week since I got my box of air and still no reply, after two emails.

This is the WORST I have EVER been treated when buying from an internet store. SHAME WOOT! I'll give them a few more days till I contact someone who will get the ball rolling... don't know who but, BBB, Trade Commission, etc..

And what makes it even worse, I've ordered since then from Woot. I can not KNOW that these items I want to give as gifts will even arrive. This is just shameful and HORRIBLE customer service.

We're all sitting here with our pud's in our hands and your fanning the flames by congratulating the people who already got something for nothing because of your silly screw up!!!

Same boat here. I got a 1gn Sansa brick and emailed rma@woot and was basically told a replacement was sent. Now i'm hearing the stock is gone so i expect an email any day saying i'm getting a refund.
I have no problems with mistakes in shipping, but people getting bonus units when some people haven't even gotten their first is a little tough to swallow. Even worse is the fact that your credit card is getting whacked without much delay and you can't recieve so much as a simple reply as to why your bank account is minus some cash and you have "nothing" for it. We are being treated like we are pests and nuisances. "That's" what i have a problem with. Every day that goes by that i don't recieve my item or a refund makes me even more steamed.
And as these issues continue to mount Woot! continues to use SmartPost, the bain of all of these problems. So not are they slow at correcting all of the shipping snafu's but they are just creating more headaches by continuting to ship with smartPost. Not only have i lost a 1gb Sansa but now SmartPost has missent my Blood Pressure Monitor to another town after it sat in my home city post office for 2 days with no attempt at a delivery.

..and we're told that spam emailing won't help matters. Well, what will? Just sitting here being patient while Woot! just forgets about us?

Woot, don't you f*&^ing realize that the only people you are truly warning are those people that have ALREADY BEEN SCREWED by SmartPost! Wow....Woot, you have compounded your mistake by wanting to make it AGAIN?!?! HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING???

...and in regards to your handling of THIS situation, why have you not done the only honorable thing here, which is to immediately refund EVERYONE'S money from this Woot???? You have to realize by now that this Woot was a complete disaster, and must be chalked up to a loss. If you think about it, you waste even more of your own money (which you should remember was formerly OURS) by paying your employees to try to handle this situation once case at a time....it would be far simpler and easier for you to just refund ALL of the transactions associated with this Woot.

Heres the crap I have been getting on my emails concerning my EMPTY BOX

"I'm sorry to hear you did not recieve your order. I will have a new order shipped out to you. Please allow a few days for it to be shipped out."

Then nothing for 2 days then I sent another scathing email and get this

"There was a replacement order placed on Decemeber 3,2007, so please allow a few days for the order to be filled."

and still nothing...no tracking number no box in the mail ...nothing..and I live 30 minutes from Their Offices and warehouses.

I believe it was Einstein who defined stupid as "doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result".

It's now 14 days into the Great Sansa Lottery and my package is still being sortated somewhere. I think a lot of the problems with broken, pilfered and missing shipments is the fact that these things get ping-ponged coast to coast a few times through multiple warehouses and loading docks staffed by halfway house rejects where a good percentage will be crushed or stolen.

If you guys think this is bad, take a look at other previous products in the community area. You can always tell that there are unhappy customers if there are 20 + pages of comments for one product. I like to call these "WOOT-UPs". Here is one that I was involed in also not too long ago:

Evertime I think there is a great deal on Woot, I alway get burnt. Same thing happens; mad customers, poor job at customer relations, and bad salutions. I have learned that woot doesn't care for us and why should they? There are many others that will buy from them so they don't need us.

And get off the Great Gatzby's Back, he has very little power in getting what we want (the things we pay for when we pay for them!) Gatzby is just a modirator in these forums and is kept in the closet like the rest of us.

Most likely the only people who come back to the forums are those that are unhappy. I came back hoping to find people discussing the product after they received it, but those are burried in the noise.

As a counterexample... I've purchased from woot 8 times now over almost three years. Every time I expected the shipping to be slow (it was) and the product to be packaged as a refurb (rox0rz!) (they were), but every time I got what I expected, and then some. One time they messed up on some minor trivial detail, but they refunded $5. Yeah, it sounds like this woot wasn't their best one yet, but I'm sure far more people didn't get screwed than those that did.

For the record, I received my player on Monday and it works great and I'm extremely pleased with it and feel that I got yet another great deal!

I know that there will be mistakes made. I just want a response after sending an e-mail on Sunday and on Monday. Give me my effing money back or send another player. It's not my fault I received an empty box. Due to the inability for the company to have a phone line to actually get anything resolved everyone posts on the boards. It is unfortunate but that's what they tell us to do.

I was involved in that same headphone sale, and I have to say your portrayal is a little innaccurate. I got an email notifying me of the problem before I got my headset. Woot never forced anyone to use their 14.00 coupon to buy the green usb adpter (I used mine to buy this mp3 player). They also offered everyone a full refund. Furthermore, they gave everyone a 5 dollar coupon to use on anything else. Unfortunately, none of the other issues I've had with woot have been resolved as well as that one.

Got my three today. Exactly what I ordered - all 1GB. Like many of you, the SmartPost tracking info was pretty whacked; they claimed mine made it to my town, then went back to a sorting center in another state before coming here. Which the box may have done, based on some of the scrawling I see on it.

Got one plugged into the USB port and it's charging now. It seemed to still/already be in English mode, though that screen was the first up. Given the comments here I'll check all three carefully.

I know I was in for mine "late" - I never stay up for a woot! - although it was a couple of hours ahead of the sellout. Too bad they didn't include a lanyard, but the description didn't say they would. It would have been really nice, though, if they had explicitly said, "not in retail packaging" or "they'll just be stuffed in a box". I am actually in favor of minimal packing - less for me recycle or throw away - but I also like to know what I'm (not) getting.

Thanks to rlswim for the pointer to the firmware downgrade; I'll likely do that and pop on RockBox this weekend. The silver R E F U R B lettering is kind of retro, eh?

I actually prefer Refurbished items because USUALLY this means they were fully tested after some sort of repair or something. Refurbished items are supposed to have a better chance of working perfectly then a brand new item because refurbished items are supposed to be tested and should not be released unless in perfect working condition. Brand new items, as they are "brand new" may have some mfg defect and might not work out of the box. But refurbs should be fully tested before selling to customer.

Obviously SanDisk does not follow my line of logic. It looks like hundreds of these were shipped out in non-working condition.

Is my logic flawed or did SanDisk drop the ball on this one?

Might want to recheck your box - is it possible you overlooked it and your player is in between the air pillows? That TX air is not guaranteed pollution free - the smog might have been hiding your Sansa.

hmm. . .I'm still waiting on the 3 I ordered. . .at least you have a box and some air to fiddle around with.

I'm going to keep the attitude that a year from now no one will even remember all of this and that Woot's going to make things right. Right Woot?

What I wonder is just how many customers there are out there that have been affected by this that haven't said anything.... My experience has been that for every customer that complains, there are 10 out there that 1) say nothing, and 2) never shop with that merchant ever again.

Just some food for thought for the Galactic Empire...

Yeah 10 that don't complain and 10000 that get what they ordered and are happy with it, like me. 20,400 of these were shipped. You think this is eBay? YOU try to ship 20,400 units of something and tell me they all arrive perfectly and on time. I've gotten my share of slow/lost Woot orders but a _majority_ of them were right on time and performed as expected.

Just now got my order - all 3 units, 1gb, packaged nicely and the one I have opened and fiddled with is working perfectly.

It was slow, but for the record my order was fulfilled correctly and I'm pleased. Hope the rest of the orders eventually work themselves out right.
