gordongrant wrote:So has everyone but me received theirs?! Now I'm wondering if it even gets here if it's going to work. I think someone at FedEx missed a scan 'cause, according to tracking it's been in Irving, TX since the freakin' 5th!!! Sooo not happy.
I have not received mine. FedUp tracking said it was on the truck for delivery for Sat the 8th and a call to FedUp revealed it actually will not be delivered until the 11th....What da Funk!
This item arrived at our distribution center on the 5th. Its the 10th and its still not been delivered. I keep getting "customer not home" crap, when I am in fact a stay at home mom and am at home all the time. I thought I might have missed them friday, but today when I checked the tracking at around 2pm, it said there was a delivery attempt at 1:46. LIE. I called FedEx and apparently they only deliver on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday. Both those "delivery exceptions" were lies? She said it was on his truck and would be out tomorrow. Woot, you need better shipping partners (lies to customers), better customer service (no replies), and way better packaging/shippers (box of air). Also, sort of surprised it was not in a retail package...plain brown box with all the stuff packed with shipping material. Not good if you plan on giving as a gift. Have contacted Customer service...hope they hook me up quickly. Woot should tell you if it comes in non retail...I've bought here before all goodies came in retail package. Very disappointed.
I'm not complaining about it being refurbished...I bought refurbished stuff before but this one is not in a retail package...the scooba I bought had a retail box and was marked refurbished...guess I expected too much from woot. Caveat people...plain vanila...no bells or whistles...box+stuff+packing material
A cool case a great price, and I am guessing the e200 is the same dimensions as the e260...I hope 'cause I ordered two... http://dealnews.com/Griffin-cases-for-i-Pod-Zune-Sansa-for-5-updated-/201616.html http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/diskosansa
I got my 3 on Saturday - one for me and one for each of my nephews. One arrived bricked, meaning the only thing that happened when I turned it on was the blue ring lit up - that's it. Fortunately a tech geek friend hooked it up to a Linux box and was able to bring it back to life. Lots of advice on http://www.anythingbutipod.com So now I have 3 great players for a great price. For techies out there, I highly recommend rockboxing it - rockbox.org - you get a lot more functionality including great games. Be sure to back up everything before doing it, tho. Also get the fonts pack as the default font is tiny and IMO, sux. Anyone looking for accesories should consider Ebay as well as Amazon, as many sellers on ebay are selling multi piece accessory kits for the Sansa. I just got a 10 piece accessory kit for $20 total - the listing is here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140188096559&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=004 If you're gonna use Ebay, use a seller with lots of feedback, a high rating and a well done product description.
I opened my Sansa today and realized that it did not come with the USB cable. Did anyone else have this problem?

If you believe you're missing part of your order (and it sure sounds like you are), please get in touch with service@woot.com with your order number and let them know. I'm not sure where things stand in terms of their backlog of emails right now, so a response may not be immediate. Apologies for the mistake.

Got home on Monday the 10th and there was the box. FedUp phone support told me that they did not deliver on Mondays, but lo and behold they were there. USB cables, buds and CD all in bubble wrap and generic brown boxes, but in very nice condition. Batteries charged just fine, wheel is a bit loose but tolerable. Very sturdy feeling overall. Thanks Woot! RockBox....easy to install fun to play with...
I bought two and one does not work. How do I return it?
Got the Sansa on Saturday with everthing in great shape. Gave it to my GF as a Christmas gift already and she love's it. Great quality for the price... Thanks Woot!

Dunno yet, Have tried to contact both sansa and woot but have not heard back yet. Mine works, except the radio (no stations), and the audio quality is bleech, can't hear vocals, very tinny, not at all comparable to my earlier model m240 sansa 1 gb.FLAC sounds better, but still, I dj'ed a party over the weekend using my old sansa, wouldn't dream of using the new one, for some reason the sound is that bad. I did put rockbox on the player, so I'm even more anxious to get a replacement, rockbox is the bomb. Still, all the eq tweaking in the world cannot straighten out the sound on this player. Waah
davis1603 wrote:<snip> PS: Does anyone know which pins to take off the USB cable to make the unit not connect via USB when hooked to a PC? I'd like to get a short USB extender and cut the data line so I can use this hooked to my PC without it connecting as a drive. Just to keep the battery juiced at the office.
To charge these while still using them, just _BARELY_ connect the USB cable into the PC and it will come on and start charging. Once it starts charging (see the little lightning bolt icon??) you can plug it all the way in. Player charges and plays at the same time!! -RenHoek
Received two devices today. Both packages contain player, CD, headphones, and USB cable. One device looks indistinguishable from new if not for the refurbished sticker on the back. Second device is VERY scratched up, to the point where it distorts the picture on the screen. I was under impression that refurbished product at least looks like the original (as far as buffing out scratches). Should I try to talk to Sansa about scratched unit or am I SOL? Edit: Middle button just fell out on the scratched unit. Wow, that's some quality.

SanDisk is not responsible for any refurbished product. They do not support or warranty any refurbished SanDisk product. Any support or warranty is with the seller of the refurbed product. In this case Woot.

Sorry to hear your order wasn't up to snuff. If SanDisk won't assist you, please contact rma@woot.com with your order number and a detailed description of the problem. Cosmetic issues may not be covered, but buttons that fall out sure should be.
I've contact service@woot.com with my problem about 2 days ago...what is the typical turn around time for them to respond? Thanx for the info in advance.
Got a box of air and a refund with my last Woot Order... Then I get this awesome item today.. it looks BRAND NEW, loving the screen, the interface.. just an swersome player... came with the lanyard, earphones, cd, etc.. All was great until I decided to listen to music.. I have about 6 sets of headphones around and I tried them all, there is only audio in the right ear. If I wiggle the plug or pull it out a bit and hold it, I get some audio in the right, but I have to hold it.. Hopefully Woot can replace this... or am I SOL ?
Anyone else having a problem with theres freezing up??
bahuch1980 wrote:Anyone else having a problem with theres freezing up??
Common problem with this unit, that is why everyone uses Rockbox. I've never had Rockbox freeze up. The Sansa firmware freezes up all the time.

Same here... Everything works great, but two things. One, the sound comes only out of the right ear unless I push hard on the connector, which I'm sure doesn't make a loose connector situation any better. Secondly, the control wheel seems to be possessed. When I turn it, it clicks randomly forward and backwards, regardless of what direction I'm spinning it. Speed doesn't make a difference either. During one spin, it will go back and forth over certain menu items repeatedly, which makes choosing a new artist much more, interesting. Contacted service email, we'll see what happens. It doesnt' look like
Okay I got three of these. I got the 2GB last year and was very happy with it. But one of these New (refurbished ones) has a screen that doesn't work. Who do I talk to? Frustrated
clarkbhm wrote:Anybody know whether this will keep its position in an mp3 file when it's turned off? I like to use mine for listening to audio books, but I don't want to lose my place when I turn it off (like the stupid RCA lyra series)
Yes it will keep your place. Turn it off mid sentence. When you turn the device back on it is paused on the word you left off on. Then hit the top button (Play) and it resumes right where you left off..... Hope this helps
Had the e260 plugged in for five minutes then it died. Sending it back.
mine has a gimpy headphone jack. will only sound right when pressure is applied in the right direction. hopefully they can get me an RMA # quick like, otherwise seems like a nice player.
Can anybody help me install Rockbox? I extracted it to the "root of the player" and then my Sansa rebooted and said 'refreshing database' and uh..I don't see anything about Rockbox ._.
I didnt get headphones or a USB can someone tell me how to resolve this? How does this work with woot?

Best thing to do would be to contact service@woot.com with your order number and let them know you did not receive your complete order. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
Mine's supposed to be delivered today. Should be interesting. Perhaps tons were sold, but there's more than a few people reporting missing headphones, USB cables, and broken players (sound only coming out of one channel seems common).

It is more likely that people who are not satisfied with the product will come here to complain or ask questions. That's normal. I received mine Saturday. It came with earbuds, USB cable, and a CD. It looks brand new and it works great. I have ordered a 2GB microsd card for it. My teenager will be pleased with this Xmas prezzie.

THANKS! it's just tough cause the only way to stop the freezing is to unscrew the back and take out the battery....BLAH!
madsxc, You don't need software. There's an option on the player to change the way you transfer files. You want to set it to Rhapsody/MSC (this will depend on whether you have the "R" version of the player). Once you do that, when you plug it into a PC, it'll just show up as another hard drive, and you can simply copy music files to it. Although you may have to ensure you can view hidden files on your PC so you can see the player's "Music" folder.
I'm not sure if our freezes are the same, but I've found that holding the menu/power button for about 12 seconds will shut the player off if it's frozen. Then I can turn it right back on. Mine often freezes on power-on (i.e. the ring lights blue, but the "Sandisk..." logo never appears on the screen). Sometimes it will freeze two or three times in a row. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm debating whether or not this merits doing an RMA - will probably wait and see how the other 2 units that I bought work out when my daughters unwrap them.
Got mine. Works great. Freezes every so often, but that seems to be the norm by looking at forum posts about the player. I updated to the latest firmware; we'll see if that helps (seems too, but maybe I'm lucky). But yeah, holding down the power button does the trick in case it does freeze (much better than taking out the battery). Easily dragged and dropped my music into the hidden Music folder. Got the art to show by changing the name of my cover jpgs to "Album Art.jpg". Pretty cool. The screen's a bit scratched, but it's not noticeable unless you tilt the screen and it's off, so I'm not complaining. I did install Rockbox on it which worked fine, then uninstalled. I'm going to play around with the Sansa firmware for a bit to make sure the player's stable, then maybe install Rockbox again. The fact that Rockbox supports gapless playback is reason enough to use it. Cool player. Really needs a real recharger though. Will probably be my next purchase, and probably a case of some sort too. And undoubtedly a micro SD card. For a $50 impulse purchase I'm pretty satisfied. I needed something that holds more than my 1 GB Creative Muvo Micro n200 (really tiny and great for my exercising, not great for long trips). Thanks w00t!

Glauer, thank you, thank you, thank you.... so I can ignore the BIG sticker on the player that says - you MUST install the CD prior to plugging it in... Does "R" mean Rhapsody? I haven't opened it up because I wasn't sure if I was going to keep it or not... so I'll look for something that says "R".
If it says somewhere that it's an e270R, then yes, it's the Rhapsody version. Slightly different menu system. Designed to work with the Rhapsody music store. I'm not sure exactly what the software contains, but if it is possible to set your player to the mode where you can simply drag and drop files onto it (as I described above) then if you know something about moving files around on a computer, you don't need the software. I got mine today and it works fine with no software.
Glauer, thanks, you are a gem! Less Stressed Mom
You can always try setting it to Plays For Sure/MTP mode, which allows you to use Windows Media Player to transfer and sync music with your computer. It's probably easier for the regular user, but someone who wants more control over how things are done will use the other mode I described. Either way, the software disc I got only has the manual, media converter (for getting videos to play properly), and some kind of Rhapsody software.
One more thought. You may be able to get the software from the Sandisk Sansa support site. http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx My PC couldn't read the CD and I was able to get the manual and converter software. I have the non-R version.
You can get the latest firmware and manual via the firmware updater program from their website (yep, you download the manual via the updater), but you'll need to get the Rhapsody software from Rhapsody: http://www.rhapsody.com/-software I'm not sure where to get the media converter. It isn't on the Sandisk website. Regardless, it doesn't sound like it's an elegant solution, so if one wants to watch movies, it's probably best to install Rockbox.
I'm been playing around with mine for a week now and for the most part I love it. Rockbox has a bit of a learning curve but now that I'm getting more comfortable with it it seems like it does almost everything I could want. One big missing item is USB support. You need to power on with the left button held to load up the original firmware in order to connect it to your PC. Otherwise it will only charge when connected and you can't even use it while it's charging. The Rockbox devs are working on improving it. My one gripe with the player is that mine seems to be eating batteries pretty quickly. It's supposed to be a 20-hour player but if the displayed indicator is correct I'm at half charge after just a few hours of listening and some playing around with the display. If it becomes a problem Amazon has a replacement for $20: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000H6E7UG/
