DocThan.com wrote:Found this review:

I've had my Sansa e260 for about four months, now. I'm very pleased with this product. The Sansa is very easy to use, its features work perfectly, and it looks and feels really nice.

You can sync the Sansa either with a software service (I've been successful with Rhapsody, Windows Media Player, and Napster), or using a simple windows folder interface. Each works perfectly, and all the music files will be usable inside the Sansa interface. The transfers are quite fast, and judging by the amount of space I've used, this model has room for several hundreds songs. I've also downloaded podcasts and loaded them up using the folder interface. They play fine, and simply show up on the master music list under their file name. There's also a media converter for photos and video, but I have not used those features.

The screen is very sharp and aids usability with a well-designed interface. The wheel and buttons on the front did take some getting used to, but now that I've been using it for a while, it seems second nature. The Sansa comes with some simple ear buds, which I can't stand. The third party earphones I purchased sound fantastic. The unit also has an FM radio integrated into it; you can switch to this by rotating the command dial to find the FM Radio menu item. I don't use it much, but it picks up a variety of radio stations near my home and work very clearly. There's a voice recorder (a "memo thingy") in the unit, but I can't imagine when I'd use that...

The overall unit is light, and small, but not too small to handle if you have chubby bunny fingers like me. Best of all, this unit has worked 100% perfectly for me. I haven't had a single hitch, burp or failure with my Sansa.

The unit comes with a USB cord that serves double duty as a charger and file transfer medium. The first charge took a long time, but subsequent use hasn't run down the battery very fast, so charge time isn't a big deal for me. However, if you intend to use an mp3 player a LOT, then the USB charge cord might become bothersome for you. It doesn't come with a very useful case, but I bought a very nice case for about ten bucks. Be careful not to buy a case that interferes with the use of the command dial or buttons. I also picked up an aftermarket retractable USB travel cord, which works fine.

I looked at several different players, including Apple, before deciding on the Sansa. I'm convinced I made the right call, and I couldn't be happier with the performance of this unit. I'd recommend it unconditionally to anyone who wants a reliable unit with good features and a reasonable price.

Hi I have the sansa e260 4 gb it's real nice I got it for about 100.00 the only problem i have with it is it claims too hold up to 1000 songs but I can only get 347 songs to fit on it .....What am I doing wrong?

How big are the songs you are putting on it? Multiply the number of files you have by the average file size and see if you come up with a number somewhat close to 3.8 GB. The 1000 songs is based on an average file size of about 3.7 MB. If the files you are ripping are bigger than that (mine are, for example), you won't get 1000 songs.

Anyone having a problem with the player not being recognized when you try to stop it with the "safely remove hardware" option? It shows up in Windows Explorer and files transfer but I cannot safely shut it down. When I unplug the wire, the player starts writing. It does get all the files but it also has brought over a few that I didn't copy to it from my computer. Very strange.

Here we go. FedEx REMOVED my due date and has not updated the shipping. Last entry shows that it arrived in Hutchinson, TX. on Friday Jan. 11th. I guess they lost my package. This will be the first time this happened to me in 27 orders.

I did not get this player, but have one of the low end 200's - but a friend reports this problem:

"As soon as I connect the player though, it makes a direct connection to photoshop and commences to download images, apparently the media converter software is not necessary - the images can be brought up on the player"

Any help out there?

Yep - I have the EXACT same scenario. Mine was originally indicating to be delivered on 1/11, but that date came and went and with it still "sitting" in Hutchinson, TX - the delivery date has been removed.
And now, I'm on a plane this afternoon and gone all week [sigh]

Try clicking a different drive letter in Explorer before clicking "safely remove". Windows thinks that its still an active drive if the Explorer focus is on it. I get this with nearly every mass storage USB device I have.

Do you have all of the files in one folder? I ran into the same thing with my e250, so I created a couple of subfolders to divide up the files. After that, it read all of them just fine. It wouldn't let me create the folders on the Sansa itself though - I had to create them on my C: drive and drag the entire folder into the Sansa's music directory.

Hope that helps...

Oh yeah, and my E260 is lost in Texas too.

Same here....called FedEx. Home Delivery is only open Tuesday through Saturday. Since it didn't come Saturday, I was expecting today. My status also shows TX, but customer service at FedEx stating it was showing to be delivered tomorrow. We'll see.

Since most of the posters here are probably in the process of buying their first Sansa player, we may not be the best group to ask questions of. Forums like the two below would be a better place to ask for help with player troubles. Also, they are good places to look if you want to customize your player, copy dvd's to it, etc.

I'm hopeful mine will show up at work today (I have all my packages shipped to my office as I don't trust my neighbors). My question is why, if we purchased these on the 7th, did it take until the 10th to get them out the door? Did they wait until they had all 4700 of them packed up and ready to go?

Mine also shows as on package truck due for delivery today. I would guess that FedEx had the incorrect information for the parcels. It is something that has happened before, but it is really FRUSTRATING & stressful when it happens. I cannot blame woot for this, since they are shipping various items across the country to many different addresses, with a basic rate shipping.

Does woot still have a manpower (non-discriminating remark) shortage?

I was happy to see that mine was delivered by 10:45AM, which is a surprise since FedEx usually delivers @ 1PM.

Unfortunately, I had a fender bender on the way home so I get to miss a workday to go thru the wonders of putting in my side of the event, which sadly to say was my fault. I think my truck came the worse out of it, but I dunno with these compact cars.

I probably will be spending my woot buying money to get this taken care of. Sorry woot.
