I got 3 of these last month when they where up, and I kept one for my truck cause it has the plug for it and I love it.. It has a bunch of songs already on it which was really cool I thought, along with the slot for a memory card for more music.. And you really cant beat the price of these, wal mart has the 4GB's for 150 bucks

I do have one complaint with it, one of the players I got last month stopped working for one person I gave it to.. they said it wont turn on for them anymore, so I dont know.. I got 3 more again, so I can send her a replacement for the one that didnt work, and then I'll prolly give the other 2 to one of my friends.

Seems like a good one - especially for those who didn't get a mp3 player for Christmas.

If people need a lot of storage for their music and so forth, this isn't the player for them. But if you don't then I would highly recommend this player. Yes, Zune's large capacity is nice, but it also is more likely to fail than the sansa, due to its hard drive (moving parts).

I'm listening to my e260 at work right now. Battery lasts for 3 nights (roughly 6 hours each night). And it takes roughly one week to go over all of my songs on there, and I only have it half-full.

I use multiple play lists at the gym, little thing can take a heck of a beating (I have dropped it multiple times). I use the Rhapsody model, and by deleting playlists ('channels') you will not use, you get plenty of space back.

I love the size. Even with a skin on it, it easily fits in my pocket, has that great FM tuner so I can catch a game if I want to...

I love this device, and if the wiff and I didn't already have 3 sansas between us, I would pick this one up.

So what do you guys think is better? The Zen V Plus 4gb or this one?

So since apparently everyone here but myself has this model already, how does it do with playlists?

Also it has a rechargeable battery according to the specs but I don't see it as part of the "in the box" area. Just verifying that I understand that correctly.

The battery comes in the player already. To replace the battery, there are four phillips screws on the back.

I have the e250 (2GB) model. I assume they're referring to the in-unit battery, which is just the usual "plug in to recharge" situation. My charges via USB but I noticed lots & lots of car & wall adapters available on ebay.

Yeah, SanDisk players are excellent for two reasons: 1. They're not as tied to a specific service as the Big Two, and 2. You get more bang for the buck.
Unfortunately, they also have two flaws: 1. They're hit or miss on functionality. They either last longer than the Big Two or they're DOA or close to it. Still, when you get one that works, it generally works forever and is pretty rugged. 2. Rhapsody. The Zune and iTunes stores are unreliable, but Rhapsody is a TRAIN WRECK! All Real Networks-related software products are garbage. Stay away and use open source and you'll be fine. Songbird is an excellent software alternative, for instance, and there are lots of others. See, you can do that with Sansa. I have both a Nano and a Zune, but I still love the SanDisk business model.

I got the e250 that was offered here Nov. 5th I think.. It worked great, but my screen started having white lines across the top 1/3 after the first month. I was gonna just keep it since it still works great, except I can't watch any videos on it now.... but then this came up (which I've been hoping for) so I'll get that and return the slightly broken one. Thanks woot, you've redeemed yourselves...

I bought the e250 as my first mp3 player and am very happy with it. Love the microSD slot as I can store additional 2GB collections of music but keep them sorted on disks. Though, frankly, since I keep my music files on my computer, 4GB is more than enough memory for my portable music applications.

Ummmm, What makes you say that?? It's in the e200 series, and I didn't see anything on WOOT labeling it as a v2 (which rockbox is NOT compatible with).
I have an e250 that rockbox works fine with. (if this is a rhapsody model there's an extra step to loading RB)
Plus, earlier post dude says he Rockboxed an e260...

I'm incredibly tempted to buy one even though it's a refurb (rox0rz!).

If anyone has any encouragements to make please make them, as this would be my first mp3 player.

Don't buy these reburb sandisks. I bought 2 x 1gb ones about a month ago. They were both bad. One had a bad battery and the other locked up. I combined them to make one good one and contacted woot's RMA department and never got a reply email. That will be the last thing I ever buy from woot.

I bought one of these during a pre-holiday wootoff to replace my daughter's Creative Zen V with a dead OLED.

On the plus side, it seems to have better sound quality than the Zen.

On the down side, it's probably the worst quality 'furb I've ever purchased anywhere. Screen has scratches on it, the big embossed sticker letters mentioned elsewhere are tres tacky, and it's like an OEM-style 'furb, just cables (that were sticky!) and the unit in the Woot box. It looked *used* in a way that I found very unappealing.

Reproduction of what I posted earlier, week before CHRISTMAS.

Here is how to get a new sandisk in lieu of refurbished e250's from woot.

1. Call 1800 sandisk
2. Your player is dead. so firmware one will not work for you.
3. They will send another firmware , but that wont work either.

Do not even try wasting your time with firmware. Just tell them you did and nothing works.

They will ask about warranty??
Tell Sandisk e250 carries a 2 year warranty and it hasnt been two years since it was launched.

Retail location of purchase.
duty free at JFK . They dont know what JFK is?

Here the call centre rep's from Phillipines will prove how dumb they are.

4. They need the serial number of your player and you need a special screw driver to open the flap or take it to the retail location.
////Its impossible to convince them that I cannot drive 1000 miles to JFK (retail location) for same.
Neither do I want to spend gas and few bucks on buying it.

***as a customer wou will remove 2 out of 4 screws and the rest cannot be done. {MANUFACTURING DEFECT}***** No serial # available.

At this stage RMA# is issued with a request for a proof of purchase.

Call them again . Use option 1 (RMA) to hear a sweet AMERICAN accent who actually know how things works here. It took here a second to issue me a link to print a prepaid UPS label.
She was understanding that a receipt of 100 bucks cannot be preserved for six months.

The whole process took 15 minutes. No wait times as call centre is outsourced. 24 hours avb. Call anytime.

It took me more time to write this than completing the return process. Mine was a genuine case and hope they will replace my player back.

P.S.1Sandisk does not has a repair centre in US. so your replacement should be new
I sent only the player and a generic head phone.
UPDATE
GOT MY BRAND NEW 2gb back on Jan 2. My players didn'y had any R sticker

PS 2 Ignore Typos

I recently lost my right channel on my 6gb sandisk player. That being said, I am shopping for one of these. I would of rather seen an 8gb version but.. This is really tempting.

Oh and I abuse the hell out of mine. So something like this doesn't surprise me. I just wish there was a fix for it.

Yes you can, scrapped the letters off with a fingernail, if I remember right. I'm using rockbox OS on mine, which I bought here on woot a few months back. I like it, has great sound (using other earbuds), good bass. Rockbox lets me read ebooks, play solitare and a few other games on it, even Doom.

i got this the last time around. Works great! The refurb (rox0rz!) sticker in the back is peel able. Yes, rockbox works on it and its awesome! such a better interface and unlocks more features. Its not too hard to install if you follow the instructions. Plus you can uninstall it if you don't like it and revert back to factory settings. If you're using this for long duration podcasts, I'd pass on this. The most I can tolerate are 1-hour podcasts that can be cumbersome to fast fwd and find the spot where you left off. but for 5 minute songs, it should suffice. I say the fast fwd speed is somewhere at 3 seconds per minute which is pretty slow for me.

Got one already. Sad to say - retail price before I started wooting. Can't speak to the refurbs, but, as so much as been said, if you are looking for an MP3 player with a good number of features (video, voice recorder, FM Radio), this is an excellent product. Compared to the vastly overpriced iPod, which doesn't do anything more (at least nothing more that I'm interested in), it's a nice value. However, the one I have is sufficient.

With devices of this size and such small and fragile circuitry, I'm sure there will be hardware issues resulting from an unlucky bump. Additionally, there is the occasional track that works fine on the computer, but hangs up the Sansa. Unfortunately, this is the only serious flaw - there is no very simple way to remove such songs from the Sansa playlist using only the Sansa.

Summary - a nice portable multimedia device at a reasonable price. A fine Woot!

this was probably mine that someone refurbed. i filled mine up and it worked great. they are kinda slow to turn on. takes a while to load. but still does it job. but one day it just stopped working. you can still browse songs, but as soon as you click one, the screen fizzles and the whole thing restarts. i dont know what happened.

quality posts: 0 Private Messages pez1e

I bought this a couple of months ago on Amazon for $99, except it was not a refurbb. It's been working great for the most part, the sound is pretty damn good, the battery can go for about 14 hrs straight, the extra features work really well, and I love watching videos on it. What I don't like however, is using the fast forward and rewind buttons, especially when I'm watching videos, sometimes the video will freeze if you keep the button down for too long.
I had a minor problem a few weeks ago with a corrupt video file that shut the player down and it wouldn't turn back on, so I had to do a reboot *holding the power button down for 15 secs*, and it works fine now. Other than that, I've had no problems. Just try to make sure you don't put any corrupted files on it.

My Second WOOT this year!

Does anyone know what sized USB input (the hole in the MP3 player) this takes?

I have a mini USB car charger for my Blackberry, I am wondering if my charger can pull double duty charging this MP3 Player.

My primary use for this player is for my Truck. I have been wanting to play MP3s in my truck for a while, but could not find a nice looking aftermarket in dask radio to replace my OEM.

Now, I will just use the AUX port, and plug my Sandisk right into the AUX port, and keep my original radio!
