Yeah I feel the same way - why such a similar offer so close together? Kinda sorry I bought the first two now - that'll teach me to woot so quickly... Although I must say, it is a nice little player

In for three. Nice to have a back up to my Zen as I am tough on electronics. The other two will be given to two Luddite friends of mine who have been hinting around about committing a digital sin.

Yeah, this place is total crack. My first woot was the 512s from a few weeks back and I've yet to remember to pick up batteries to test em out, but it was such a good deal! I've never had an Mp3 player till I got them and I still don't need one, but what a deal! now what do I do, get 2 of these, too?!! How do I make it stop?!! I use a mac, too, so I still don't know if they'll even work.

I used to have one. When it just came out a few years ago, it used to be $90 at Circuit City. I had a gift card so I paid the leftover $10 for it. It was a nice mp3 player that doubled as a USB flash drive. The headphones were very nice as well. Too bad it got broken during my travel. Flash forward to today, I've since had Zunes and Ipods. But this was my first mp3 player - the cherry popper. It was great!!!

These players are really just drag and drop. You probably do not even want to use the crappy Sansa software. They'll work with a Mac.

I bought a silver one for me, as an afterthought, I figured I'd better buy a pink one for her, went back into woot, I'm told that I already bought one and it's blocking me from buying another. Any ideas?

I'm in for one, even though I worship at the altar of my IPOD nano. 1GB $9.99 MP3 player, you can't beat that for a great deal. Pink too. My IPOD's starting to get old, f--ing up, the battery holds about 1/4th of the charge that it did when it was brand new.

The only way to get through another lousy day at work is to listen to music on my IPOD, and since the battery only holds a playing charge of about 3 hours, that leaves me with five more hours of work, and no music. God, I sound like such a whiny biatch, another Gen X er who hates her job. Well at least now I have a second music player to get me through the day. Thanks, Woot. I can't believe what great deals I find every day on Woot.

But I **wubble** real people and I don't want to go to the store, stand around waiting for someone with the key to the display case to come back from their break so they can unlock the MP3 players. Then I have to go wait in line with a bunch of people and then go home. I'd rather gouge out my eyeballs with a tongue depressor. Or I can go easy on the self mutilation and buy from Woot and have them deliver to my door.

Can you operate this on USB power while it's connected to a computer or does it require batteries? If I can power it then I can use this easily in sound installation art as a cheap playback device. Of course I could just wire the battery leads but it would be easier to use USB since it's already at 5V.

I wooted on the Taxcut software shipped via SmartPost and got my order in exactly one week. The tracking number they gave me worked, too.

In for 3...$11.66 each shipped (2 x silver, 1 x pink).

Couldn't pass them up for the price.

Something like: you walk into a room and it starts making noises at you from hidden speakers (detecting you with ultrasonic/infrared/light sensors etc) But rather than noises from weird sound generators it could be convenient to use mp3s and at this price don't mind taking it apart a bit.

Just the opposite for me. There's nothing more irritating than forgetting to put your player on the charger then finding out the next day you're screwed.

I use the 512mb version of this player while hiking and I use NiMh rechargeables with it. Works great, but if I ever forget to charge my batteries, the sansa works just fine with standard alkaline AAA's.

Built-in lithium ion batteries are way over-rated, IMHO.

Have you ever heard of an artist named Brion Gysin? About 10 years ago there was an exhibit of his work at an art museum in Edmonton. They had to clear out a room just for his exhibit, because it was all about sound, light and images. I'd never heard of him before that. It's hard to explain but it sounds like what you're describing.

hows the voice recorder on this mp3 player? I really want to record some songs on the piano, but it has to last longer than 30 seconds >_>...

Especially non-user-replaceable batteries. I LOVE MP3 players that take "normal" AA or AAA batteries and that's what pushed me over the edge to get this one. Much easier to use commodity rechargeables than toss out a whole player when the battery quits working right (or sending it in for an expensive replacement).

It's especially handy when travelling in a foreign country where the AC voltage is probably different-- instead of needing to bring a ton of different chargers and remember to use the right converter for it, you can just bring a single battery charger and keep everything happy. Not to mention you can buy AA/AAAs almost anywhere.

I really wish more MP3 players (flash based, obviously) used AA/AAAs.
