Will the 56 fit in this printer? I have an older printer and it uses the 56/57/58 and they last a pretty long time.

Etaria wrote:I am really concerned about this "time" problem- not using up the ink by the time the clock runs out due to HP's internal setup forcing you to buy ink whether you are out or not.. I am considering buying this, but it would not be my primary printer. I would be buying it for occasional copy, occasional fax, and few times for scanning. I already have a laser printer as my main printer, but am needing a fax, scanner and copier. Would this suit me? I am sure I will not use the ink by the time the "time limit" runs out... Anyone have any suggestions for me?

What is the time limit. 1 year , 2 year........? Is it the same for the black and color?

Not a big fan of the all in one but for a small office this would be a good deal.

The long winded and bizarre product descriptions are what keep me coming back. (and an occasional impulse purchase I can't resist) This was a strange but interesting read.

I mean the 57 color, not the 45 ( it says it will work with the 36 B/W)

I have this printer. Its great. #27 black ink costs about $18 and will do about 200 copies. #56 black ink costs about 20 and will do about 400 copies. It uses # 58 color and I have not had to replace it yet. I mostly print in black. Makes great scans.

Cannon makes a wonderful Scanner/Copier/Fax/ Printer that also prints photo quality prints. I've had it for 2 years now and it hasn't let me down. The scanner is a godsend for designing. It catches everything I want it to especially with all the fine detail lines I draw.

First- that could easily be the nastiest, grossest product narrative ever. The author must have been awake for the entire woot-off, and dimensia set it. I needed to take a shower after reading that. roflol.tee hee hee.

On the printer- I had one a while ago. Decent except for the tiny paper tray. 25 sheets is waaaay to small. I used it my office for about 18 months, and then it failed. Flashing lights and error codes. Hp wanted to much to fix it out of warranty, so I wrote DANGER on the box and put it out to the curb...

Decent print speed, quality, cost per page. Anemic paper tray, early failure. At the woot price this is an excellent printern especially if you need a 4 in 1 rather than a 3 in 1 (I.e. Fax capability) At the price I paid, not so much.

I have one of these. It was to replace a previous all-in-one from HP (that didn't have fax) It goes through ink slower than my older model, and the ink is cheaper in the first place. It's big, so I don't keep it on my desk, but I think it's really good bang for your buck. I print on a daily basis, color and black and white. It does well on photos (not professional quality obviously) and scans very quickly.

I'm in for one only because I have a very old 1200 series HP all-in-one and it is time to upgrade. I know this is not an ultra modern unit but I don't really print much and I can probably use the cartridges I have in this machine. Plus, it has a fax which should come in handy now and then.

My question is that I have a HP Pavillion PC and this was all bundled. I did not have to do a thing to configure the 1200. Since I have a HP PC, will all I have to do is plug this printer in like I did the 1200 and I'm good to go? Or, will I have to install new drivers, etc.?

If you're concerned with cartridge cost, you may want to try to find a continuous ink system (CIS) for it. I bought one for my Epson that was about $55 filled with ink. Saving a p-pot load of money on not using replaceable cartridges.

We have been deploying these at work for a while now. We have only had a handful come back with mechanical problems and they where pretty old at that. They have been adequate to support the needs of people who work out of their Satellite of Love office. I think we have paid anywhere from $99 to $129 from CDW. We have been using them for so long that I am surprised that HP is still making them.

tabascodude

We support these dam things at work (by the hundreds), They are great for very light usage and the device will function as a standalone copy/fax machine. Other than that, the drivers are huge, over 300mb, installation is a royal pain for the non-technical, they wear out quickly under heavy use, ink is expensive and does not last. Fax function does not work over less than ideal phone lines. All things said and done, if you just want an all in one jobber, get it. If you want a little more quality look elsewhere.

My Canon MX310 all in one answers the phone unless I pick up the phone that is plugged into it, even if its in telephone priority mode. Canon support says there is no way to fix this. Is this HP as poorly designed?

BTW, I originally got one of these to test with when I was developing software for HP. Even my pre-production model still runs great. I highly recommend this thing.

So then, can you tell us how to trick the machine to re-set the mandatory expiration on the ink cartridges? I am sooooo tired of getting ripped off with ink! I bought the 3210, and only used it a few days when I had to replace all the cartridges ... and I had only been doing black and white printing. I found out they had all expired on me??? I had to buy all new - a total of six cartridges- to make the machine work again... I used to like HP but this has left a really bad taste in my mouth...
I like the idea of the machine but it's constant paper jams and resets I have to constantly do to get it to complete a scan suck time.
Who makes a printer scanner with ports on the front - that does not rip people off for ink?? I want to replace my with a honest unit.. Any suggestions? Thanks

Stop selling overpriced reefurb bags o'krap, woot.

Somebody get up on the wrong side of the bed today? Geez.

1. This is NOT a refurbished printer. Apparently "obvious" means something else to you.
2. Smart people have learned to refill their own ink cartridges which is easy and cheap to do. Saves a LOT of moolah.
3. This is a great little printer/fax/scanner/copier and it will serve the average Satellite of Love user just fine.
4. What is obvious is that you don't "have a lot of respect for the guy(s) that do the witty verbage and write up each new woot product." One with respect wouldn't have shown such contempt for Woot.
5. You are right on one thing though...They couldn't possibly have much self-respect because they allowed you to be a Woot member.
6. Woot does not live and breathe to satisfy your every whim. You're not their only customer. If you don't like what they are offering...don't buy it...better yet, go elsewhere.

Take a pill kid.

The time limit is about 2 years, but check the label on the one you're buying, some
may be about to "expire" even though they're still on the shelf. The date may be a
little hard to find, but it's on there. Also, if you're using Vista, go to the HP site and
download and install the latest Vista-compatible drivers BEFORE connecting the
printer to your computer. The HP Rep swore to me that they had ALL the drivers
done and available as of last November. And this one can indeed use the larger
capacity color cartridges, they're the same physical size-just fullerer.

I've had this HP for 3-4 years. Still have it, still works. $70 seems like a great price. I think I paid near $200 back in the day... It does take up some real estate but it's a reliable machine.

i refill mine all the time. the black works perfectly but you do need to replace it every now and then because the cartridge starts to leak after a while. the replacements are cheap, 15 bucks for black and 18 bucks for color at Staples. But refilling is definatly the way to go. its easy and supper cheap. you can get a refill kit on ebay. The printer it self does what it should. i use it in my Satellite of Love office and dont print pictures but use the fax and scan features and they work great. I got mine for 80 bucks at costco. i would recommend this printer.

can i buy something if i dont have the money? do u take checks?
