I bought 3. They'll make great gifts from DS at birthday partys.

okay, never had one of these, so my question is (if this is "duh" don't hate me): I listen to books on cd in the car and would like to download them to an mp3. Is it the same as music..16 hrs. worth, etc? Thanks.

I am wondering the same thing, though since there is no clock in the Sansa (not one you can set anyway), I don't see how they can expire on the Sansa.

-sigh- I just realized that Woot needs a credit card verified paypal account before buying stuff off it. Too bad my CC isn't one of the major ones.

This product seems nice, I've had a couple friends have one and the quality is pretty good. Buy new earphones for them though, because the ones that it comes with are... carp.

I bought this morning also. What's the deal??

Will ours still be new?

Has woot done this on items before?

So, bait and switch? I, too, bought these (3 of 'em) thinking a fantastic price for new ones, and checked back today, and like everyone else, now noticing they're listed as a respiffied. And I'm discriminatory. I refuse to buy anything that's a respiffied because I've heard so many horror stories.

It's drag and drop.

I use mine for old time radio shows like Gunsmoke, etc. It works just fine

I got one of these respiffied units last time. They were poorly refurbed. Mine will not mark or remember where you left off and fast forward just skips to the next item. An annoying problem when listening to music but a big problem for recorded books. These pretty much suck.

Highly recommend they have all worked great.

Excellent price for new.

Ear phones have gone bad on some, cheap. Buy better ones aftermarket.

I just bought three more for gifts.

People keep mentioning "new", but WOOT says "refurbished"... not new.

I bought one for myself and my daughter got hold of it and I had to buy two more. The rest of the family used it and I had to wait till they came back to order 3 more. Make sure you change the headset when you’re exercising and sweating, they give off a little shock! Other than that they are outstanding for the cost!!!

Bought three last time, buying three more this time. I load them with tracks for my beloveds and give them as gifts - cheap enough to work as a new generation all-in-one mixed tapes.
Works just fine on my Mac, but not directly trough iTunes - just drag and drop using the Finder.
One AAA battery lasts... well, a long time. Lasted the entire flight from Los angeles to Tokyo and back, plus a week of almost constant use in between.
MP3 only - no aac (maybe aiff, wav or wma, but what's the point with this kind of player?)
FM Tuner works decently enough. Voice recorder works, but far from broadcast worthy.
Interface is as straight forward as it gets: simple & boring... meaning your grandmother can use it.
Recommendation: Technotools, don't bother. Everyone else who just wants to listen to music of audiobooks, go for it.

For spoken word instead of music, you should be able to encode at 32Kbps and get 4 times as much time on it. Be even *better* capacity than with music.

got one a long while back, works great! not too good on the battery life but an excellent fit for the casual music listener. Also I've dropped it several times with no problem, very sturdy.

No, OverDrive Media audiobooks don't expire on this player.

Second Sansa I picked up for my little sister. First was a 1gb Clip which she still has. I love these small Sansa players as they're not too fragile and easy for a 7 year old to use. With the price, I couldn't pass it up.

Bought one a little over a year ago, it was respiffied, came with an arm band elastic strap and plastic case. Very happy with it. Recently it's started not powering up unless I remover & replace the battery, but for a 1-year old unit at $15 I've been happy.

Just bought 2 more today, a silver and a pink so my wife does not have to share mine.

I stick the USB cable into my desktop printer, go to Windows MP and sync whatever songs I want. Takes a few minutes but relatively easy. Caveat to new purchasers, sometimes you need to change the factory-set USB mode in the "settings" menu when using for the first time. Easy to do tho.

I have several of these and just bought a couple more. I don't understand the complaints about it being refurbished when I tuned in at midnight it was listed as refurbed.

I have several other players that I use from Cowan, Iriver etc, But this is the best for audiobooks. I don't have to worry about recharging in the middle of a long book. I take along an extra AAA battery and can get through several books on a long trip. It also works with both audible and overdrive books.

This is also the simplest player to use- it requires no software. It works fine with drag and drop.

Yep. Paid $400 for a Seagate TWENTY MEG hard drive back when many people still had single-sided five
inch floppies. And I thought I had gotten a good deal!

Anyone want to buy a 20 meg HDD? Cheap.

This is a better deal than when I picked up 2 of the 512mb m230 refurbs for $19.99 back in January. Never had any probs with them and I put them through hell. Traded up for woot's Maximo earbuds. Sound great, but earbuds are uncomfortable for me. (Picked up FS1 in-the-ear headphones through a wootoff, which sound the best I've heard so far!) Upgraded during recent woot off to the e250 2gb, also a respiffied, so I can get rhapsody to go song transfers. It works great. I have had it only turn on halfway (just the blue light on the thumbwheel) while at work, and remain on no matter what I tried, until I opened the back and remove the rechargeable battery. If you don't have a mini philips handy for the back's 4 screws to reset it, you're SOL You won't have that problem with this m240. I can go 2 and a half days running eight hrs a day with one of my m230's, and I'm sure so can you.
