I just bought an RGM, and I love it...only luxury watch brand made in america
www.rgmwatches.com

I would love to buy a quality American Made watch but after checking out their site I think RGM watches start at $1000+. Someone willing to drop $1000 on a watch probably wouldn't be looking at today's woot.

Joey1972 wrote:This has Swiss movement, not Quartz, and Invicta is a very well respected brand. You definitely get a lot of watch for your money. This one looks pretty cool. I almost wish I'd waited for this one instead of the last one I wooted, although I like the look of the one I have better.

This watch is (probably) manufactured in Asia but uses a Swiss Made Quartz Movement. This is about the going price for this watch. It was $69 + $20 shipping direct from Invicta last month. This is either a brand new model or is a model that was specially made for Invicta's sale and these are the leftovers.

TAGs are great watches and last for years but you have to pay out the nose... and it is still worth it. Especially as they use a sapphire crystal instead of the mineral crystals most companies use in their watches

I have over ten Invicta's , more than satisfied with all of them. They vary widely in price from about $ 100 to S1000. I will compare them to any big bucks swiss brand out there below $10,000 . Most people are snobs and equate price to quality , it doesn't always work out as the maker of the best swiss movements is a company called ETA which is owned by the lowly brand Swatch .

To the person asking if this is an automatic, dream on , a swiss chrono automatic at $ 700 is a steal, at $90 not a hope in hell .

Does *anyone* have an invicta catalog entry regarding the 5093? I can't find it on 2007's catalog, and it's not on their main page... damnit I want this thing NOW but I can't justify getting it unless I see it listed by them.

I went with Citizen. But it was a gift. The eco-drive is pretty sweet. But you can't beat the swiss. at anything.

I can only find this watch listed, of all places, ebay.

eBay link

I saw another listing from another seller theree, for buy it now for $30 more, but now I cannot find that listing.

All in all, Invicta sells many different watches, from $60 to $3000. IF I didn't get a Bulova watch from woot in a Blushing Over Compliments, I may have been tempted to get this.

The Finish will EVENTUALLY rub off of this, but it is ion coated, which makes it wear alot longer before it starts to come off. With proper care, the finish can stay pristine forever.

Lastly, from what I can see and other Invicta in this price range, it is probably a fold over catch, like the majority of watches in this price range with metal bands use.

I'm getting annoyed at how this watch doesn't seem to exist anywhere other than here, some watch enthusiast sites, and ebay.

What's going on?

k, I hate to be persistent about this, but I can't find this model (5093 according to woot) watch through any of invicta's catalogs.

Seriously? This is not a good thing.
I'll need to know what's going on before I jump onto this watch. I'm not going to risk being burned by a fake. Before any of you say "woot is a reputable seller," that doesn't mean fakes can't slip in.

Its Quartz despite the fact that chronographs usually aren't marked Quartz.

The hands aren't tritium its tritnite. This is a phosphorescent material designed by Invicta. It lasts longer and isn't as bright as ordinaryphosphorescent hands.

9.5 inches around is massive.. (yes, i just wrapped a tape measure around my wrist)

How much does it typically cost to have it fitted?

wot?

you usually won't find a double clasp like that unless it is on a dress watch.

this is probably the normal single clasp buckle. I'm 99% sure, just based on the look and brand of the watch.

The Invicta chronograph I bought during a woot sometime ago (November) appears to have the exact same movement as this watch (3 dial chronograph with date). The minute indicator on the chronograph started zeroing at the 5 minute mark early this year, otherwise it works fine. The parts of the band that come into contact with my desk are peening.

I bought the last Invicta Diver. It cost me 5 bucks to have 2 links removed, and I am a big guy. The must make these things for wrestlers. If it is like the Diver, be prepared for a very heavy watch. The last one was white face on white, nice until you tried to tell time. This one looks much better

I think "Invicta" is Esperanto for "whittled from a hunk of iron."

I think only the Russians make watches that are thicker than they are wide lilke most Invicta models. I like big watches, I like complicated watches, but many Invicta models are like strapping a manhole cover to your wrist.

So - let me get this straight - someone with no car, no computer, no cell phone, and no wall clock or clock radio is going to pay $95 for a clock to wear on his wrist?

Also lowly Swatch currently owns Rado, the originator of the sapphire crystal. Have 2 of those in my collection. Don't have any TAGs but do have a couple of Breitlings which I consider slightly better than the TAGs. Invictas are decent watches just not expensive. I wear good chronos as jewelry. I wear a plain jane Timex Ironman Triathalon as an everyday watch, but I generally wear them out before I ever get to change the battery. The current one I own I have actually replaced 2 batteries in and worn for 4 years.

Invicta are very good watches, very high quality.
I have one, yes, they are a bit on the big side, and if you look at the sizes of most high quality swiss movement watches, they are also a bit on the big side. I have gotten very use to wearing mine, and I don't notice the weight.
went to a local store, the salesman recognized my watch, he had one on very similar, got a better price.
Those that want Timex, just not the same quality as an Invicat, both tell time, and both work, and I will wear my Timex when I'm working in the yard and etc, and my Invicta is for better times.

Digital watch is good for the gymn and the yard. Some wristwatches combine the exterior of stainless steel body with electronic display.

What people say and do is not always consistent so take it with a grain of salt.

BTW, watchopia has the Seiko kinetic today. I bought from watchopia in the past, and they delivered in the timeframe they said they would. I already owned a Seiko kinetic similar to this [all stainless steel model] which I purchased from Kohl's.
