I don't know where you can get a new 3rd gen Nano for $150.00. I paid $187.00 for mine a few months ago. They haven't come down that much in price since then.

Try here: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?sf=wHF2F2PHCCCX72KDY&nclm=Certified

And Apple has Free Shipping AND 1 year warranty AND you know it will work and won't be in poor shape. Really a poor woot for to catch the uninformed.

errhhh... people aren't that happy with today's woot but i'll keep the excitement to myself. (psss... it's my first mp3)

Well you should have saved up another $15 and got it from Apple IMHO. You would have got a 1 year warranty and assurance it wouldn't be screwed up. (scratched, cable not work, etc).

Meizu makes a VERY good MP3 player and has received rave reviews on a number of sites including CNET.

I'd get a Meizu over an ipod any day.

FM tuner
plug and play ability (acts like a USB drive)

ahhhh the infamous bouncing "i want one" sign......Quickly everyone buy an over priced, over rated ipod before its to late......Or else........

I guess you could always just go buy a zune and be a much happier person, looking so much cooler with your black headphones instead of those weird white woot headphones

I agree since my last iPod broke a couple weeks after it's warranty (hard drive crashed) and the Mac Book I bought fell apart on me and apple sucked with helping me with it.

I agree with the iPod thing, but new headphones (black or any other color) cost all of $10 on woot and they are better than any headphones than come with a MP3 player.

Hey RRC2000,

You call these rave reviews. If you want a real alternative to an Ipod Nano, go to Creative and try the Creative Zen. Bigger screen than the NANO, better reliability, SD card expansion, and better ratings from CNET. Heck, you can buy a respiffied 8 gb Creative Zen from CreativeLabs for $83.00. Check out the Savings Center on their site.

What kind of insult is that to all their customers who bought them only two weeks ago? I'm going to request a $10.00 refund and if I don't get it I'll be A LOT less likely to EVER make a purchase at Woot again!

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

UM, no. You don't have to have a contract to own a used iPhone - which is in essence, an iPod Touch.

Creative makes a good player also. I'd take a Meizu or Creative over a POS ipod any day.

Just pointing out to the previous poster that Meizu is a decent player and not some generic knockoff.

RTL44 wrote:The apple-bashers amuse me. In part, because they just don't get it, but even with that, the nay-sayers don't seem to realize that apple has been at the forefront of computing, operating systems, mp3 players, etc. for years. Because of apple, the stuff that NON-apple users own has improved and is - in some cases - almost as good/cool as the original (apple) product. Every year, apple will come out with something new, raise the bar, and then watch all the wannabe's try to catch up with them. They never do, but you'll frequently hear people say, it's as good as an iPod. Even independent reviews will always use the ipod as the benchmark - the standard to which all others try to compare themselves.

Then why dont ipods include basic things like an FM tuner (or apple tries to screw you out of 20 bucks to get it as an add on). Multi-format capability would be nice too.

I personally own a Cowon Iaudio player, the X5L which had DivX/video playback and came out a year before the first Video Ipod made its debut. It also had twice the battery life (30 hours) compared to the ipod at the time. It also had support for formats like WMA, OGG, FLAC etc.

I just dont understand how apple can continue to make products with obvious drawbacks, ones that their competitors improved upon a long time ago. To make matters worse, they have the orbs to charge more for their inferior product. It has brand name loyalty written all over it. The only thing apple really has a corner on tech-wise is with the Ipod touch. There is no other flash-based video player with wifi on the market right now. Other than that, there are plenty of competitors to apple products, many of whom produce a better product IMO.

a 7.3 vs. 8.0 is splitting hairs IMO. The Creative Labs Zen actually got an 8.3 and beat the Ipod nano if you really think apple is that great.

For people who are scared of lesser known brand names like Meizu (even though they make a great player), I'd get a creativs labs player ---- it would run circles around an ipod any day.

Bought two: one for my GF and one for her dad. If they look good when I get them, then they'll be nice mid-summer presents, making me a summertime champ.

Yeah, a Zune or Zen might have been cheaper, but then they're like giving gifts from K-Mart instead of Macy's. Nothing wrong with buying at K-Mart ( I do) but when people get presents, they like to see the Macy's bag more than the K-Mart bag.

So, they'll get genuine iPods instead of icky Zunes or second tier Zens or some of those no-name, never-heard-of brands people are listing here. Who gives a carp? about that. Gifts should feel like you made an effort, not like you were pinching pennies on bargain bin merchandise.

That's your opinion. If you like overpaying for apple, no one can help you with that. I def dont consider a Meizu or a Creative "K mart" quality. The versatility of these players are unsurpassed.

A Meizu would take effort to research. If you did the research, you would't be scared away by the name instead of copping out and overpaying for a refurbbed ipod on woot. I'd rather buy a brand new Meizu and Creative Labs Zen for less.

Just got my green one... some REALLY minor scuffs on the back (only saw it cause I looked for it) and a little grunge on the cable and around the on/off switch, but other than that looks new... Oh, and had to reformat it to mac. No biggie.

Can't wait to get it home and load it up! :D

Got ours today. Condition looks good. Few scuffs on the back, front and screen look great. The headphones and cable are cheap knockoffs, of course. They're probably purchased from DealExtreme.com for < $1.

I just got back from the beach hoping to have a nice pretty ipod to play with, when i opened the box and got it out it was broken in the charger port, all i can say is, my faith in WOOT has gone down a little bit.

filecat13

quality posts: 0 Private Messages filecat13

Both of mine arrived safely. They were packaged in similar boxes, but the contents were not the same. One had Apple accessories and the other had generic. Both were Windows formatted, and an easy restore later they were Mac formatted and ready to go.

My GF loves her new blue Nano, and we just got back from Target where she spent more on accessories than I did on the iPod. While we were there, we looked at the Zunes and other players they had on display. She thanked me more than once for getting her the Nano (and in more than one way).

For those who got bad refurbs, sorry to hear that. I'm sure Woot! will make it right, but it vacuums nonetheless. Still, I've been playing the respiffied game a long time, and an occasional lemon is to be expected. However, I've also had brand new products break down immediately, so for the thousands I've saved over the years, the few times when a respiffied hasn't worked, it's still money in the bank.

Good luck to all.

Also got mine and doesn't work, although it did come with all the right Apple cables and stuff.... E-mailed Woot, no response, but I know someone who tried to return another product that wasn't what Woot said it was (didn't have a Blu-ray drive) and when Woot didn't respond, e-mailed them and told them he was going to call his credit card company and have the transaction reversed and keep the computer too. Then they e-mailed back, ha. Woot then said he could return it but he'd have to pay for shipping. The latest I'd heard is that he e-mailed them back basically saying that they e-mailed him the wrong item and shouldn't have to pay extra (shipping) to get his money back, but hadn't heard back from Woot.

Basically, I guess I'm saying it's probably a good idea to make an effort to go about the return amicably, but if that doesn't work out, then call your credit card company and they'll sort you out. I love Woot, but I think they should probably stand behind the stuff they sell and it doesn't always seem like they do.
