There is, but just like any clearance outlet, you have to wade thru tons of Manos, the Hands of Fate until you find the one worthy gem.

I'm sure it works by proximity. On my first cell, an old nokia, I had a transparent case and a battery that lit up when a call was being received or dialed... Some kind of tech to detect the radio signal.

This was no doubt an impulse buy. I am ashamed of myself.

I don't think it really works. Just got mine; put in two of my aaa's; push the lens to turn the white light off.
I put my celphone in the cradle and called it. No red light.
Later, with the celphone in the cradle, the red light is blinking, but for no reason.

Mine arrived today. I haven't tried it with my cellphone... since it's an iPhone and won't fit in the cradle. I did put batteries in it, though but left it sitting on the kitchen counter. Later on I was heating something up in the microwave and the red light started flashing. When I turned the microwave off, it stopped flashing.

Maybe it would work as a poor-man's geiger counter. Sell 'em to Homeland Security!

I just got mine, and it is a piece of garbage. No on or off button, the light does not light up when a phone call comes in, and the cradle is too small to fit anything except those small little cheap phones that you get for free when you sign up--instinct will not fit it, blackberry will not fit it, iphone will not fit it. And it does light up when you get within about 5 feet of the microwave though... sad. I'm sending this pice of carp back.

Thought it was a good idea, but it goes off all hours of the night, without any incoming calls!!!!!

Just got mine today.

My Samsung U900 (FlipShot) fits really well in the cradle. I did a few preliminary tests:

It lights up when:
1.) Receiving a call
2.) Receiving a txt
3.) Sending a txt

Works really well for me...sounds like it's not working as well for some other people...

I have the same phone, and I was going to defend that it actually does fit more than cheap phones unlike what some are saying. Just because we don't carry monsters in our pockets doesn't mean our phones are cheap.

However, it won't work with me phone. S2BMe.

My white light on this thing is even flakey. Sometimes it won't stay on or gets really dim.Oh well, i got caught up in the woot off. NO REGRETS BABY!
