Correct, just plug into the HDMI and go.

I do not have cable, or any other pay TV service, right now I'm using the ole rabbit ears and a new "digital converter" box that will be required in 09...Does anyone know if this TV will work with that set up? The digi conv. box hooked into this monster?

anyone?

also, does it come with the stand? the pic looks like it does, but the "in the box" section doesn't mention it...

If I wanted to get standard TV to work on this thing could I just use an old VCR recorder (with s-video out) and plug the S-Video output into this TV, right?

Also, same question again, except this time with a DVD recorder with a NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuner and using the HDMI output in to this TV?

Is this actually a good deal?? Vizio just released a 32" 1080p that looks quite nice with a tuner for $600, so doesnt seem like this is such a great deal. Im just wondering, I have really no clue when it comes to these things and Im really interested in getting one, but dont want to overpay.

Yeah if it has a tuner that'll work, a VCR or DVD recorder as long as it's got the tuner. You'll just have to use those to change channels.

Yes. It will work, but your box will need HDMI connection to get 1080p signal and a cheap box isn't likely to have that output. Component (3 cables) would look pretty good though. Composite (one, usually yellow) would look fair to poor. Cheap box limitations would likely show up on this monitor. The westy panels are pretty good.

I bougth one of these from buy.com for $600.00 last month. Lowest priced 1080P you can find. Very attactive but only one HDMI connector. You will need a cable box to use as a TV.Not having a tuner is no big deal. Nice picture with no problems. Very happy with my purchase.

Buy a $5 DVI to HDMI adaptor and you'll have two HDMI ports. Use the component inputs for HD too, HDMI isnt your only option.

How will this look for non-HD content? Ive got dish network but not the high defintion box. Would this still look alright with standard definition? I plan on eventually getting the HD service, just not right away.

I have this TV and I Love it! picture is great and the built in speakers sound really good! Auto source feature is real cool too. This means if you are watching tv from your cable box and you turn on your nintendo wii, it will sense the wii and switch to that input automatically!

Is there a downside to using component inputs over HDMI? I just clicked BUY IT on this as I was in the market for a 32-37" 1080p of some sort (since... oh I dunno.. yesterday) and woot reads 27% of wooters' minds.

you will need a cable box for this to work as a TV. Straight cable feed will not work without a tuner.

i'm, gonna wait a while before buying a hdtv,
i bet tv's will be really cheap on black friday. I wouldn't be surprised to see this tv for under 500. With the econmy in the pits, big ticket items will be discounted a lot.
I wouldn't get a tv without a tuner, i have a DVR and often record stuff on it and watch local over the air tv at the same time. OTA HDTV has the best resolution, too

nothing to see here, move along

I've had this monitor for about a year and a half and love it. It works amazing as a computer monitor and 1080p ps3 action. It is annoying that this does not have a tuner, but you can pick one up for cheap. Get a converter box coupon and it will tune in OTA. I believe some converter boxes will pass analog through as well, allowing you to tune basic cable. Most older VCR's have a tuner. Digital cable boxes are tuners. Tivo boxes have a tuner too.

You will need a tuner of some sore to watch cable or over the air television.

Wow, this is a toughy...I 'm in the market for a TV anyway, and this seems like quite a bargain.

There are only two on ebay: http://tinyurl.com/3v5jvc
and both are more expensive.

It's also more on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/4l6jvk

So it's obviously a good deal, but my question is quality. Has anyone read any reviews yet? I was actually getting ready to buy a Samsung 32" A450 which has great color and darks. This has my interest peaked, but I don't really want to sacrifice picture quality for size...
